Do it while you are already out like after school at the library. waking up and having to study while you are in a distracting environment like your home can be hard for a lot of people to focus. I have tried it and I have been able to produce much higher quality results because I can put all my focus into studying.

INFJs and INFPs often have trouble deciding which one they are. If you are a Perceiver, you show the world your perceiving function, or your intuition, and if you are a Judger, you show the world your judging function, or your feeling. So what do you think people see first about you: your ability to see patterns and the big picture or your warmth and friendliness? Another way to look at it is that Feeling for INFJs is about other people's feelings: the need for harmony in the moment and staying on good terms with others. Feeling for INFPs is more about their own feelings: an internal sense of values and right & wrong. While both types value harmony and have a strong sense of values, which one do you think drives you more?

I can tell you. Do you go to the bed at roughly the same time 5 or more nights a week? If you say yes you can pretty much stop because you are a J. Or if you have any specific thing you do at a specific time each day, everyday, you are a J. Or If you at any point wrote down a lists of your J & P characteristics to try and figure it out, you are a J. Of course the tried and tried test, on determining your true mbti type, is to Google negative/sarcastic mbti memes and find the one that cuts you deepest. That's the most accurate test there is... (Also, personally I'm ENTP, so if we end up having a conversation about everything and nothing for 12 replies in this comment thread you are definately an INFJ)

Personality type refers to the psychological classification of different types of people.People with a judging personality tend to like more order and schedule in their life. They are more likely to belief in a correct way to approach something. Whereas, Perceiving personality tend to like flexibility and options in their life. They are more likely to believe that there are many ways to approach something. Perceivers are capable of keeping to a schedule and Judgers are capable of exploring options. Neither type is stuck into a world of constant disorder or rigid steadfastness. However, each type will tend to be more comfortable in one type of situation over the other. The better personality depends on the environment or situation they're in. You can have a combination of the judging and perceiving that balance out perfectly for you.

Are you an intuitive? We have found that intuitive judgers tend to be torn on the Judging/Perceiving dichotomy because for intuitives, everything tends to be kind of -ish (for instance we might say meet at noon-ish rather than 12 p.m. exactly). I'm an INFJ, and I feel open and flexible internally, but like you, I prefer to get decisions made quickly, and I try to stay organized (ish!).

I'm a J and so desperately wish I could be more of a P. I always put my work first and feel as if I can't have any fun until it's finished. So, if the work (studying in college 24/7) never ends, I NEVER have any relax time. There's constantly something to do. It's so draining. J sucks the fun right out of life.
@zain4019
@zain4019 5 жыл бұрын
Lisney M You CAN make that batter. Having a J doesn’t doom you to a life of no fun- it does only if you let it. The first step is accepting that there are things you can do that can help make you relaxed. The second, is to list some things that help you have fun and relax, then prioritize things do within the next few hours, and as soon as this block of time is up, let yourself go and have fun! After the allotted time is over, go back and finish working. Take breaks as often as scheduled. It may take some practice letting yourself loose and carefree in those moments where all your work isn’t done yet, but with relative, it will get easier. Plus you have amazing time management and work ethic skills, so that’s a great bonus :)

I have to study for several government certification exams over the next few months and I'm also a judger, so I think I'm in the same boat as you. I'm not going to tell you to study less, but just be sure to schedule in some fun time as well. Remember we're more productive when we're refreshed. I recommend the book "How Did I Get So Busy?: The 28-day Plan to Free Your Time, Reclaim Your Schedule, and Reconnect with What Matters Most" by Valorie Burton. Reading that made me understand that being busy isn't always as productive as we think.

You have a problem i wished i had. I am probably perceiver. I often write to do list (it's not very detailed, just written things that need to be done until some deadlines), I look at this list every day but i literally never act according to it. It brings frustration because you want soo much useful things to do but instead you just kinda chill and do nothing. Looking at this list every day and saying "ok, i have 30 days to do it" -> "Ok i have 10 days to do it, its 1 thing per day" -> "Ok if i do 2 things per day, i will be done by deadline" -> "Ok, 5 things and 2 days, difficult but doable" -> "I guess i am not sleeping tonight". Next day "i am tired but at least i did it in time, next time i will definitely work regularly (we know it's not true)". Quality of work definitely suffer too

I do like to have deadlines to work to, otherwise I can easily keep putting tasks off til later. I am a perfectionist aswell, so I feel like I need to spend a fair amount of time going over things and looking for any mistakes that jump out at me. I'm a crappy self-starter at work too. I'm a J and so is my wife, whereas my best friends are P. I notice two main things about my perceiving friends. First they cannot manage their time to save their life - they will be late for every appointment despite their best intentions. Second is that they have all these aspirations but the work that needs to be done is always delayed indefinitely. I feel like I really lucked out by having a preference for J - at the same time I'm wondering, what can I learn from my perceiving friends that would help me to improve myself and be more understanding?
@willowtreetraining
@willowtreetraining 6 жыл бұрын
What a great question! I love that you want to know what you can learn from Perceivers - and trust me, as a fellow Judger, I would tell you that there is a LOT we can learn from Perceivers. Like you, many of my best friends (and two of my three children) are Perceivers, and I feel fortunate to have them all in my life to help teach me how to take a breath, relax, and just enjoy life, which can be challenging as a Judger who lives in her head and always wants to be in control. :-) And while your description of Perceivers can be spot on - many of them do struggle to manage their time and have difficulty taking action on their aspirations - it's not always true. Perceivers are able to manage time and make decisions just as Judgers are able to be flexible, spontaneous, and open to new ideas - it just takes a little more effort for all of us to act outside our natural preferences. And although I'm glad you like being a Judger, I suspect that if you ask many Perceivers, they would say that they think they lucked out to be a Perceiver so they aren't uptight, stressed out, control freaks. ;-) Our perception of the differences that Type describes is so linked with our own natural preferences that it's easy to think that our preferences are somehow naturally "better" than the opposite preferences, but as you already seem to understand, this isn't true. All Types have strengths and all have blindspots - and this is true for Judgers and Perceivers too. So let's answer your question about what you can learn from your Perceiving friends: First, Perceivers tend to be more flexible, laid back, spontaneous, and open to change than Judgers are. Judgers are usually trying to either overtly or subtly be in control - in control of their lives, their decisions, their surroundings, etc. This means that Judgers have more difficulty with change (unless they instigate it) and can sometimes come across as rigid and inflexible. So one thing you can learn from your Perceiving friends is how to be a little less uptight and a little more able to go with the flow and know that things will work out even if they don't go exactly the way you planned. This will help you be more understanding - not only of other people who don't always do exactly what we would like them to do, but also of situations that don't always go the way we expect or hope. Also, Perceivers have an innate ability to just "be" in the moment. I think this may be what I envy most about Perceivers! Judgers tend to live in their heads and are always trying to "do" so they can remain in control. Judgers usually have to do lists that they use to track what they need to accomplish each day, and they can have difficulty relaxing or having fun until they complete all (or at least "enough") of the things on their lists. Perceivers, on the other hand, are much more comfortable with ambiguity and are also a lot more focused on experiencing life than on controlling it. This means that they're able to relax, have down time, forget about what they "should" be doing and just enjoy whatever is happening in the moment. And this often means that Perceivers have less daily stress and worry because they trust in their own ability to handle whatever comes their way. I continue to work daily to emulate my Perceiving friends and children who are able to get out of their heads and just enjoy their lives! (This doesn't mean that Perceivers never have problems, troubles, or worries - just that they don't typically hyper-focus on them as many Judgers do.) Finally, because Perceivers are more flexible and open to change than Judgers, they often see opportunities that Judgers miss. Judgers are usually so focused on the plan they've prepared that they can miss new information or options that could improve the plan or might mean that a whole new plan would be better. But Perceivers, who rarely have a detailed plan and usually just trust that they'll figure the steps out as they go, are able to quickly change direction and alter their plans to fit their experience in the moment. This means that they are extremely adept at managing crises, chaos, and change because they don't have to mourn their original plan as most Judgers do - Perceivers just say, "ok, things have changed so now we have to change too!" So whether you're talking about a work plan that just blew up in your face or a travel problem that just arose like your flight being cancelled, Perceivers are the people you want with you to help figure out what to do next without panicking that the original plan isn't going to work! There are a lot of other great things we Judgers could learn from Perceivers, but for me, these are some of the most valuable skills we could pick up from Perceivers. And remember, like all things in Type, we're all able to do both Judging and Perceiving actions - some are just more comfortable and natural than others for us depending on our preferences. So good luck adopting some more Perceiving characteristics - I hope your quest helps you find more calm, less stress, and a relaxed joy for life that so many Perceivers naturally have! I hope this helps! If you have any questions or if anything I said isn't clear, feel free to post again. :-)

In my experience. Perceivers are much more efficient. The judgers I’ve met often stick to rigid rules of “how it’s supposed to be” And end up sticking to incredibly inefficient systems. Some of the judgers I know do a process and I can see all the flaws with it but they will not change because it’s the way it’s supposed to be 😑 I always end up finding all the flaws and do it the absolute most efficient way.

Now, I'm just a lot more confused as both J and P applies just fine to me in varrying scenarios. It's like I'd set a task on a schedule which must be followed but I also take into consideration that it can change in a moments notice. I'd like to finish a task as quickly and efficiently as possible with due regards to quality, but don't mind taking a break to play if I feel like I needed to ease up and freshen myself a bit.
@willowtreetraining
@willowtreetraining 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, we all exhibit both behaviors depending on the situation, but we have a general preference for one or the other. Think about what you feel most comfortable with in most situations: would you rather get a task done early when possible, or do you tend to wait until the last minute most of the time? Do you do your best work close to the deadline or do you dislike last-minute rushing around? Do you feel better when a decision is made or do you feel uncomfortable making a final decision until you absolutely have to? Remember that this is what you show the outside world, so would most people say you are generally organized and planful or would most people say you are spontaneous and flexible? You may be a more laid back judger or a more organized perceiver. Take a look at our videos on temperament and see which one of those fits you - that might help with this last letter. Intuitives who are judgers tend to be a bit more laid back than sensors who are judgers.

I feel torn between Judging and Perceiving, because I think in the work culture you are expected to be more of a Judger. Besides that, i do think its better to finish your work first and then you can relax, I might even rush to finish everything and tick it off my list, but then when I have free time I feel bored. Yet outside of work I can be either decisive or indecisive. What gives? i find this last letter too hard to pinpoint.

The confusing part I learned is, if you're an introverted type, you're always considered a judger if your type ends in P.. likewise, you're always considered a perceiver if your type ends in J. It's because of your dominant function. If you're dominant function is Ti or Fi, (ie IP's) you're a judger since thinking and feeling are judging functions.. If your dominant function is Si or Ni, (ie IJ's), then you're a perceiver since sensing and intuition are perceiving functions. It can be confusing when you're an ISTP like me and you know you're not chill (kinda ill tempered), you definitely like deadlines, closure, being on time, finishing the task at hand, and can be very hard on yourself, and can be seen as quite aggressive.. ISFJ/ INFJ for example.. are considered perceivers and are a lot more friendly and chill about basically everything. ❤

I thought I was an INTP, but I just noticed that sometimes I'm irritated of this kind of characters. And this is because of their laziness and aimlessness. I was like: they're just like me, isn't it? They're really cool, comfort, calm, smart, but... NAH! it's not me! I don't understand them, how can they don't pay attention to their image, room, what and how much do they eat and the like. I don't hate INTP, but I can't associate myself with them. And you know what? I'm an INTJ. I'm an absolute fan af this kind of characters, cuz I understand them completely. But p.s. I'm not so much organized, I procrastinate a lot sometimes, but I do a lot to do it less.

It's possible to be 50/50 or anywhere between 100 and 50 with J or P. I'm not impulsive or spontaneous. I love having a plan making lists and detail instructions for myself on how to accomplish my plans and I love meeting my goals. However, I'm not good with deadlines other people make for me and often I believe the made deadlines are impractical because they are made by people who don't possess the demanded skill. I think it's odd for a P to be considered indecisive when they are considered to love collecting information.

What J really means, is that you prefer to live your life more with decision making functions T or F. Perceivers are more into gathering information (n or s). So being p means, that your 1. Or second function is either se or ne. Next thing you should decide is if you are extrovert or introvert. I think this is where many people go wrong. This means if you prefer to decide /gather info as what outside world tells you you are e. Like i'm quite quiet and like alone time, but I have no capability to make logical decisions by myself. I need the info I get from other people, like statistics or advice from more knowing than me to make decisions. I simply don't know if the thing I have in my head is reliable. It's still hard to understand, but after I got this I am on my way to find out the real me 😬

Yeah, even Judgers procrastinate! The difference is that Judgers typically procrastinate on things they don't like, don't want to do, or don't think they're good at. Perceivers, on the other hand, put off (or procrastinate) making decisions on a lot of things - even things they like or want to do. But they put them off because they need more time to make a decision because making decisions is often uncomfortable for them. Judgers love making decisions - they just don't always like doing things that aren't fun so they procrastinate! 😂

God, do I have an dilemma now. People of the Internet, I want your opinion. I'm like heavy on the judging, like 70-80%. But the thing is I tried to let go of it, be more on the Perceiving part of the track. The thing is, the judger mentality obviously comes very natural to me. Does trying to become a little bit more of a perceiver makes any sense? Will it even work or is it just a waste of time and should focus on being what I'm best at, being a judger to the max? Becoming a judger to the max is more possible for me and more practical than becoming more of a perceiver?

Makes sense. Seems to me that the major difference is judging types place a large emphasis on completing goals or milestones in life, and doing so creates a sense of accomplishment or self-actualization. Whereas we perceiving types don’t structure our lives around objectives because we enjoy our time in between the objectives more than the contentment we feel when finishing them.

That's pretty common! NFJ's tend to be the least J of the Judgers because the N makes them ok with ambiguity and the F means that they don't see decisions as black and white. And both of those things - accepting ambiguity and not seeing the world as black and white - are true of Perceivers too! So you may not be a Perceiver - just a Judger who is a little more flexible and open to ambiguity than a lot of other Judgers are! You could also check out this video specifically about ENFJ's and see if it resonates with you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWq7eIlsgLOsmKc I hope this helps!
