This week we look at the new dicast SD70Ace in Ho scale from Broadway Limited along with a new T1a Berkshire loaded with details. Mike shares a new auto rack project. Daniel shares a wonderful railroad group he visited. James shows us a new 3d printed building he is designing. Ken takes us on a tour of the work needed to bring the outdoor railroad back to running condition. lots of great photo and video eye candy in this #273 What's Neat!

I always love to see what Mike Budde brings over. I would love to see his collection of auto racks running around Ken's layout on a future show.

Thanks, David. I’d like to do that, too! There is one video of some of my racks on KZbin. “Mike Budde’s Auto Rack Train”.

I'm a member of the OMRA club in Springfield Missouri they are a great group of guys and refreshing to see a good amount of the members are relatively young for model railroad clubs. There future is bright and I have no problem making the 2 hour drive from Jeff City and back.

Right? Only question is how to replicate that failed print. I overwrote the failed slicer file with a corrected one with many more supports, but even if I had kept the original, there's no guarantee that the supports would fail in the same way again.

In the opening, why is the video of engine 41 backwards? I notice it every week, but I get watching the show and forget to ask. p.s. I'd still like to see Mr. Budde show the chrome pen he's talked about using on his excellent HO vehicles!

3D design has much in common with scratch building, really. It's all about taking raw shapes, tweaking them, and putting them together to look like something. The major difference, of course, is that in the case of 3D printing, the "building" takes place on a screen, so you can work out many of the kinks before engaging with physical materials. Also, when you have finished your 3D build, you can replicate it and share it far more easily.

Many of the auto racks I’ve shown were scratchbuilt by myself, Amy!😉
