They're not owned by Fender. There _is_ an association but it's not ownership, it's distribution.

I asked him about a Superchet many years ago in Nashville. He made it sound like Gretsch was working on it but obviously he was just trying to shut me up. :-)

The pickups are made in America for the Americans musicians they're called the "Trumpetron", when you strum the strings, Xy Jing Pin collapses...

I'd take Japanese workmanship over American workmanship every day of the year.

***** Yeah, and check out all of the crap but expensive guitars US companies like Gibson put out. US guitars are a lottery because they put profit before all else. Shit thinking, so shit outcomes.
@edgerat7 жыл бұрын
Gibson doesn't build many guitars I want anymore. If anyone ever gets bored, go take a look at what Gibson employees have to say about the work environment they deal with. I am done buying Gibson stuff.

I think I'm the only one who thinks that the Japanese Gretsch's DO lack a certain quality. They look amazing but they all sound kind of stale to me, like they just lack a certain tonal quality compared to some of the old American Gretsch's.
@edgerat7 жыл бұрын
Put some TVJ's in there and they come to life, I will definitely take the Japanese build quality over the American ones, the friggin necks coming unscrewed and what not. Still gotta find what does it for you though :)
@mindwarp6667 жыл бұрын
Joey is being a little bit economical with the truth at the beginning. The Fender/Gretsch lawsuit was over the name Fender Broadcaster vs Gretsch Broadkaster but the latter wasn't a guitar but was the name of one of their drum kits. The new Broadkaster guitar isn't anything to do with the 1950's lawsuit which Fender lost, it gave birth to the 'NoCaster' and later the Telecaster. I guess Leo Fender had the last laugh as the Tele is one of the best selling guitars of all time. Those Gretsches sure do look tasty though, all hail the White Falcon!
@JackTheSkunk6 жыл бұрын
Duane Eddy is one of only 3 people that could make a Gretsch sound great....the other 2 being Chet Atkins of course and legendary jazz guitarist George Van Eps. How can you tell one guitar from another with the distortion cranked up? They all sound the same....crummy. Don't get mad, it's just my opinion.
