Getting production-ready Firebase support on Windows is something that will take some time, but we have a good relationship with their team, and I'm hopeful that we'll see them expanding their platform support in the future.

It is sad that Google chose to use snaps as there packaging for Linux apps. Snaps are hated. We are waiting for Flatpak as the packaging frame for binaries. Target Flatpak and the app will work on all Linux distributions.

Snap is from Canonical and Canonical invests into flutter Linux so it was to be expected

It is sad, but either way Flatpak wins in the end. Once the market realizes that it may be trivial to convert a snap to a Flatpak ,things will standardize and snaps with continue declining. Once IBM starts to flex muscle and standardizes on Flatpak for their desktop app development tools, then the sky's the limit for Flatpak.

Like any web application, one built with Flutter will need to download a good bit of JavaScript before it starts working. Flutter's a little different in that it needs nearly all its JS downloaded before it begins rendering. There's a bit in this video about some things being built to mitigate this, though, including a new API for displaying a progress bar or other UI during the downloads, as well as a way to pre-cache the app.

Depends on what you mean. AR/VR apps typically involve 3D rendering, which is something Flutter isn't specifically designed for. You can certainly use Flutter to develop the non-3D parts of an XR app, though, and use native activities/ViewControllers for the XR parts of the experience.

There are a couple that have been around for a while, but haven't been as actively maintained as some of the other plugins. If you (or anyone else reading this!) are interested in becoming a contributor to Flutter's ecosystem, this could be a good opportunity.

Revolutionizer is correct. If you run `flutter upgrade`, it will grab the correct binaries for Apple Silicon as it upgrades you to 3.0.0.

I have never seen that before and I wouldn't use any other pronouns when talking with or about you. I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss some subtle message.

​@@theorushinjr9023 Nope, you didn't miss anything. It looks a little weird for me to specify my pronouns, since I'm a large, furry dude with a beard and most people would naturally just use he/him. There are other speakers at I/O, though, that don't obviously fit one mold or another, and it can be really helpful for those folks to have them clearly displayed. Hopefully, having my pronouns listed on my video makes it look less weird for someone else to list theirs as well. It's a somewhat new practice, though, so I can totally understand how it might have looked odd and unnecessary if you hadn't seen someone do it before. :)
