I don't think I even knew that's how Steam press accounts work. That's crazy to me, like you can add ANY game? I figured you'd have to coordinate with every publisher for every game to provide that service. I'm guessing Steam has some clause buried in their agreement that everyone has to click agree to before they can publish their game on the platform.

In most cases they are tied to publication so it's rather strange Patrick still has his. Unless Valve decided he's important enough (he still could use his after leaving Giantbomb). Also publishers could control if they allow such accounts access. Probably most of devs don't bother default settings though.

@@Reptil3 It started as tied to individuals, then became tied to publications as Steam continued to grow in popularity. I got access much, much earlier in the process. It used to be the case that publishers could opt out of participation in the Steam press account-or delay it turning on-and eventually Steam forced everyone over.
