It’s good to know that Google hasn’t forgotten about the Home line of products, but I wish they’d fix the plethora of bugs and issues it already has before adding new ones. Like, if I could listen to a podcast on multi-room audio without getting put on a “might be a psychopath” list from the amount of swear words I use towards Google out of frustration, that’d be great! 😂😞

Listen, I've been meaning to talk to you about the lists you're on. "Might be a psychopath" is probably the least of your worries. I think you'll want to watch out for "Probably not great to sign up for activities with children within 1000 ft". Something about the language they'll hear?

This is a good set of updates. They looked aimed at actually making the smart displays actually smarter rather than just junk features for the sake of a feature. Kudos to Google for this. I am always open to seeing full reviews of cameras and new product, but if they work the same as the other products then I would say not needed. But if there are new features, then definitely interested in seeing this. In Australia we have a company called Amber Electric who sells electricity at the current wholesale prices to retail users. They also have an API that sends current price, forecast price and amount of renewables in the grid. I have started using this with home assistant automations to control big energy usage devices like electric hot water and HVAC to use more green energy. Anything to encourage this is a really good idea.

Love these updates! I haven't seen it so I may have missed it have you made a video on how smarthings/hubitat/home assistant hubs will blend with matter, moving on the next month and wondering if I leave my existing smart home to the new owners and start from scratch! I'm currently on google home, hence why this video is so awesome for me!

SmartThings will fully support Matter, and that has been stated by them multiple times since that video, so you're good there! Also, there's a bit of Home Assistant news in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYCal3uXg6aHbZY (towards the end) As for Hubitat, I've really not heard anything there. I'm assuming they'll have some support but for now, this is really the sum of information available on it.

I wonder if these updates are the reason why my nest hub has been randomly(very annoying) restarting lately.

That could be some power issues. I'd maybe try making sure the power cord is in there good. If you're having brownouts on your power grid that could cause this too. It's usually not updates like this!

That button in the browser top right corner that you could not click looks like the translate button. If you asked it to display a webpage in a language other than the one you have your account set to I suspect that that button may allow you to use Google translate to display the page in the language your account is set to.

Hi Brian! I have a problem and unfortunately I don't know how solve it. My Home app does not appears the "routine" option. I use Nest Mini, Nest Hub and smart lights with philips hue. I want organise/create routine. I would be interested only 2-3 consecutive instructions. Can it be related to the place of residence?

It can but it should be available...try changing the first language to English United States and then put the second language to whatever you want. Then restart the phone and app and see

Brian that button which you weren't able to open was a button which becomes available on certain sites its a button which would enable the google assistant which will read you the content written on that page , in my nest hub max its working

Hey Brian!! Been super busy 😪 thinking about hiring someone lol real quick YES YES YES please do one on the nest camera if you can. I use your videos as reference when I'm trying to sell people stuff.... I noticed Amazon is more prevalent in the homes I work with in the Philadelphia area. In my observations I find Google is easier to use for the elderly . Plus it's less invasive. Older people are easily influenced to shop and all the shopping suggestions of Amazon are defaulted to on. It really does control behavior of older people . Back on subject , I'm thinking of buying 2 nest indoor outdoor cameras to replace my arlo ultras . The platform on arlo is damn near unusable if you don't want subscriptions . So now , I'd rather pay the 7 bucks for 3 camers that recognize my family .....

I had the Nest wifi and found it made my network slower and less reliable than before I got it, felt like it was a waste of money, and also had issues working with Microsoft teams

I tried changing the network of my Google home but it didn’t work. I deleted the home and then tried reinstalling Google Nest, no luck. I did a factory reset of Google Nest. I did the install but the nest device won’t pick up a network. I’ve tried all three networks and same problem, a non installed factory reset nest. I’ve even tried a manual install of the nest, but no luck. Any ideas???

Why you have 3 networks is my first question...but if you've got a lot on wifi I would drop a bunch off the network and try then. If that works, then you're going to likely have wifi problems. If not, talk to support.google.com

No, the new Google "Nestless" Nest Doorbell and "Nestless" Nest Cams are total crap. I returned them all for my mother's house and purchased the older Google Nest cameras and wired Doorbell. Hell I had one time our food was left from a delivery and we didn't know for almost 5 minutes before the new Google Nest doorbell alerted us .. that was it I was done. My house I have a Google Nest Doorbell, Nest Yale X, 4x Nest Hubs and a Hub Max, etc .. I have my house wired for PoE cameras and I'm going 100% UniFi. Google can't make up their mind for nothing and cancels stuff in a snap of a finger.

If it's taking 5 minutes to notify you, that's mayyyyyyyyybe blaming the wrong thing. This can be related to network issues, ISP issues, or just plain old WiFi issues. If you're good with the new, old cameras then you're good but I've experienced none of that. Not saying you're wrong...just trying to help!

@@AutomateYourLife .. Interesting my reply disappeared; I put an image link to my account proving these purchases. Her house has fiber to the house, 500/500 Mbps, the Wi-Fi is Google Nest with a single satellite by the front door, but the actual router is 50 ft or less from the front door. Not to mention her house is a cracker box and under 2,000 SqFt. After the DoorDash issue her nurse and I conducted a test and the delay was over a minute long between pressing the doorbell and receiving any notification. At the release date apparently there were some issues that others were having in Google was aware of it. I couldn't have that for my mother. Her house is loaded with Google Nest hardware. My only issue with the older stuff in particular the indoor black cameras are that apparently they can overheat, daily I get a notice that one of them is offline for 10 minutes. The other issue with Nest versus Home is the Google Yale lock gets buried and impossible to access simply. Keep in mind there's an 84-year-old elderly woman who can barely answer her cell phone. Quite honestly if I don't put a UniFi system in her house as a $2,000 plus write off I may be interested in what Amazon's doing for elderly people including that new robot and other similar notification and camera options. You may want to look into it...

FYI the new Google update on Google Nest Hub (display), will only roll out if you have enabled "beta program updates" in the Google home app, and set your language to English! (in your assistant) If you change your assistent language back to eg. Swedish og Danish, the Google software will be rolled back from your device. Only if you have both your native language AND English, your will be updated with the new software on your Google nest hub display device. I have just tested it right now. Sad but true :( (It could be a Google bug - its seen before) So even though you have the right software version installed on the nest hub, it will not show the new features if the user account AND the language is not set correct.

Glad to hear about the Google updates. I have one of those 7 inch Lenovo screens too. It fits in the spot I had for it. The only thing is that I don't like the sound quality that much. Looking forward the the Google announcements coming up. In other news, It has been 5 months since my GH devices have said the F word. It is still saying the C word and I like it that way, now that I'm used to it. This morning my weather frog says it is 19C.
