What's Next: Faculty Research, Ruigang Yang

Dr. Ruigang Yang is an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science. Dr. Yang's research is in 3D reconstruction, 3D modeling and 3D visualization. His focus is to develop ways to capture the world around us in three dimensions. While we can now easily capture two dimensions, just as black and white photography developed into color photography, Dr. Yang is creating systems to capture three dimensions as well as understand the content inside of the data. This type of research has many applications, for example, creating a three dimensional version of Google Street View or creating your own avatar with your cellphone.
