The decision to call for a vote of confidence, allowing parliament to express either trust or distrust, lies solely with the Chancellor. He has announced that he intends to take this step in January, and will govern with a minority government in the meantime. It is suspected that his reason for delaying until January is to allow himself and his party time to prepare for new elections, and possibly to mitigate or partially rectify his own mistakes and those of the current government. If he faces a vote of no confidence in January, an orderly process will begin, which will then provide for relatively prompt new elections. However, there is a delay until March as candidate lists and other preparations must be made within this timeframe.

This coalition was, from the beginning, an aberration. The FDP has a "classical" (old-school), austerity-crazy neoliberal stance regarding economic policy. They're out of touch with our post-2008, post-pandemic world - almost nowhere else, besides maybe Argentina, are people seriously defending those ideas and policies nowadays. This couldn't be further away from how the other two parties of the coalition see the role of economic policy, which with all their mistakes is more reasonable, especially in a recession. It is bound to self-sabotage and self-implode, and that's what we've got for the last few years. I'm scared of what may come in its place, but this kind of had to happen.

@XzibitfreekАй бұрын
Many western nations put a lot of money into the Ukraine war, including the US Germany only has 85 million citizens and is the 3rd largest economy in the world. Many companies are setup for more success than they currently have but they simply lack qualified workers, On top of that Germany is facing an aging population, so it naturally makes sense to create incentives to attract qualified immigrants such as from India. Many foreigners already come to Germany to study due to a high quality of education for a relatively little price. Attracting qualified immigrants has nothing to do with the immigrant issue people complain about. The job market is still attractive for qualified workers and cost of living is actually fairly low compared to other western nations. Rents arent super high due to Germany not being very centralized, Germany doesnt have one huge central city that everything evolves around like England with London or France with Paris, instead its split. Of course a flat in Hamburg or Munich will be super expensive but its easy to find affordable housing near big cities, its not nearly as bad as in other countries.
