The U.S. would never allow peace in the Mideast until everyone that is in influence that holds some seat of say in these war moves to perpetuate the plan some 1992. Signed in 1997. Peace in the Mideast means Russia and Iran can cool off and that war mongers in America are dead and no longer in power. All of them. But what takes control after is always worse than what was.

All Syrian governments came via the CIA to power. All of them had to turn against the US policy as this policy was directed against the people of the area. So to survive every government has to turn against the puppetmaster. Israel's hunger for Land and the core belive of the inhabitants of that area will force the new government to change sides later

This country in fact has a long ancient history of diversity that is extremely unique compared to its neighbors. This fact has zero to do with any “ Western talking points.” It really is long overdue that all of the rest of us study these issues in the context of Middle Eastern, Northern African and Indo-European historiography. These areas have entirely different histories: religious, ethnic, linguistic, military and political. Our inability to differentiate them well has been due to our refusal to study them well enough to differentiate them sufficiently to formulate intelligent nuanced policy/ies.

Now that he’s gone, IMO and I agree with your POV that it will become Libya 2.0. I’m from Iran and I’ve said it- no one cares about people of any of these nations. "The Arab Spring is not over". She is correct. Tomorrow is a very dangerous time. If Syria truly wants multi religious freedom and real democracy, to avoid ISIS and other radical entities, the various leaders must unite in one constitutional democratic government that will guarantee assurances of Christian, Kurdish, Jewish, Muslim et al human rights whilst holding accountable those who aligned with Assad's brutes.
@Deez80085
@Deez80085 3 күн бұрын
So I take it from your brain-dead prescription for "freedom and real democracy' that you forget the Arab Spring was a Western operation that successfully destroyed a number of Arab nations for the benefit of Israeli/US domination in the region. Also, pretty tone deaf that you focus on "holding accountable...Assad's brutes" while completely leaving out the fact that the child beheading takfiris I'm sure you praise for "liberating" Syria are currently running the country. No mention of accountability for them. Do we have to wait for another Western proxy to overthrow them through brutality in order to hold them accountable? The West's patronizing cover for imperialism has destroyed any basis for "human rights" as anyone on the victimization side of the "rules based order" can transparently see that it is just the same victor's justice that has defined the West since Nuremburg. Your blatant exemption of HTS while decrying "Assad's brutes" is just another piece of Western propaganda no one wants to hear.

Tell me more about the totally candid survey of Syrian people these days that you've had. It's always refreshing to have an absolutely not curated roll of propagandic images on repeat which conveys the totality of the situation, like AJE provides. I'm sure you must have other anecdotes to provide color to this reaction among a country of totally not diverse and distinct groups across various geographical regions and communities. It also is very encouraging from your embedded report that we can conclude the happiness of all Syrians is as a result of the "freedom" they now have. There certainly is no chance of fear or duress which has compelled people to smile when the bearded foreigner takfiris with guns arrive to their town square. At least we can be certain of all of this now. Thank you, sir.

Not much… but I suppose it depends on your definition of “good”. We can expect the brutal hunt for Kurds by Turks. We can expect Sharia Law. We can expect land devision between Turkey and Israel. We can expect another influx of migrants in Europe and America from that region. We can expect a lot of money laundering through “humanitarian aid”. To someone those things might be good…

I'm hoping that the factions can put down their weapons and debate their ideas in the halls of government civilly. We'll see though. 13 years of war, 55 years of an Assad ruler, and 0 years of a constitutional democracy tells me otherwise. Who even has any experience right now governing an entire country? This could go very bad. Syria could go the way of Libya with constant warring factions, or the way of Egypt with the military taking over But again, they all may just be tired of fighting.

When Said Barre of Somalia fell, the people celebrated hoping that would bring a new era of prosperity. Then the country sunk into a junk failed state. That looks very likely for Syria.

Syria is not Somalia . Syria is a country that have known democracy in the 1940s 1950s and 1960s when countries such as Spain portugal Poland etc still under dictatorship. I pray and hope Syria can become better, and you should to instead of wishing such ending for a nation which has suffered under 12 years of wars and 1 (2011-2012) of uprising being repressed by a criminal dictator
