I enjoyed that, especially as I used to live and work in Essex, and the The Barge and Battlesbridge was a regular outing. Come and ride some hills and trails in Hertfordshire when you can.

Hi How about trying the Wahoo Systm 4DP fitness test? They do a 14 day free trial so you can do it for nothing. One hour long including two sprints, 5 min max power, 20 minute FTP and 1 min max power one after the other!. It's tough but will give you a lot better idea of your fitness and rider type than just an FTP test. I have done it at 69 years old and if you give it your all you will know about it. The problem with that is… everyone’s perception of “entry level” is different! Obviously it’s massively dependant on how much cash you’re willing to part with… I would just say get the best bike you can afford, and don’t worry too much about it… just focus on getting out, having fun and being consistent! 😁👍
