@@SarahKeane-mw6uu I am sorry, but I don't think you have a right to say that! Have you even looked at the Sanctuary? It looks gorgeous. Lester did not do that...LE AND MEGAN DID. I usually keep to myself but you shouldn't be talking about LE like that. It's not nice at all. He is a kind and caring person and has been working very hard at that property. He has even made improvements to it. Lester nor Jami deserve your negativity. Imagine if someone was talking about your son (or family member) like you do about LE. In my opinion donkeys have more of a sense of self preservation than horses. They generally will avoid hazards, don't waste their energy in the heat and are much smarter than people give them credit for. Your plans sound good for the horses for winter as well as the pastures.

Morning Jami - If only the world could greet every morning or even just like say even, 4 days a week, with the energy and sheer happiness Christmas seems to, it would transform this world into a much happier place - maybe a little more rambunctious and high speed, lol, but in a happy way. 😊 I think the extra work from the storms of this year, plus the droughts you went through last 2 years, have been non-stop gut punches to your workloads, your systems and your psyches. You had to work harder to be able to provide to all the babies what Mother Nature was taking away because the lands were taking a beating and could no longer produce, due to lack of water and the Texan heat and then *wham* you have now been hit with savage storms and wash off flooding, that you have to somewhere find the stamina to keep working through and the land has yet to recoup from the feast or famine, from the weather that it has been dealt, as well. It’s no wonder you feel overwhelmed with all the extra’s that face you, the extra’s that are above and beyond the time needed for the regular work and chores. Who wouldn’t feel that way? I know I would!! All I can offer is, for you to remind yourself, it’s one step and one day at a time. You will get all you need and want done, but don’t be harsh with yourself that it takes a lengthy amount of time - because it will. It has taken a good 3 years of truly disastrous weather, to get you to where you stand now, and it’s going to be *work in progress* for everyone, even those we hold most special and dear, such as yourself and Lester, and the lands to heal and recoup. You are honestly doing a great job and much more than others would ever aspire to do! Hope you and all visiting your page today, have an marvelous Monday! 💕☺️ (apologies for the length!!)

Heavily suggest, before you do the barn upgrades, see if the current Dam guy can help you divert the water that is coming down the hill and flooding the barn. It might involve a small retaining wall to elevate the ground enough to make a stone lined sluce to keep the water higher on the hill until it passes the barn. Or possibly your neighbor would allow work to send it over the back side of the hill towards the river? Just an idea to explore before next fall, so grass can establish before spring.

Completely agree with angelnolan2840! Donkeys or mules in a sticky situation will tend to stay calm and wait for help. Horses tend to panic and fight to get away from whatever is causing them to panic, doing themselves harm in the process.

Hopefully in the erosion control plans yall Remember to put gutters up on the LHL horse barn roof with a connected down spout into a French drain system that's encircling in the whole outside walls of the horse barn so that a pipe can be run out from the barns french drain system to a pipe that leads out to the pond..its the only way we can prevent erosion here in Oregon around barns an rural homes

There is a lot of work like you said, the best approach is what Lester said in his Video at ISS ,pick an area or fence line and make that your project for that day. Don’t look at all of it because it will overwhelm you. Just a suggestion add clover to your grass seed around the pond,it has a good root system and will help against erosion. You two are such hard workers, people don’t realise you have a full time job and we only get to see five minutes of what Lester does all day. Thanks for sharing.
