Klopp or not Southgate would be a terrible move. Marsh would be a poor choice, too. Southgate poorly used much greater talent... he would be utterly terrible with the USMNT. Marsh, like GGG, is too stubborn about his system. We need someone who can adapt to the national level and adapt to each opponent (including time intra-game adaptations).

That's the question alright. Who should take over? I'll say this - I won't be any more satisfied with some Berhalter analog. For me, it only became personal later when it felt to me that Berhalter became a blame deflecting machine. His pressers were painful. But my point really is that we need a manager of true stature. An experienced battle hardened tactician. A manager who's specialty has been knockout tournaments. There are coaches who do well in long seasons of attrition, and there are the tactical giants who know how to win knockout matches. That is the profile we need and deserve. So my response to a, say Cherundalo, wouldn't be much different than if they had kept Gregggy. I do like the language used in characterizing the search though. I approve 😁

U.S. Soccer faces more issues than just the mediocrity of Gregg Berhalter. As a fan for over 30 years, I believe that the USMNT is being influenced by Don Garber and the MLS. Additionally, the consecutive poor decisions by Matt Betty Crocker have only made things worse. The frustrating part is the lack of media and pundit criticism of Gregg for his poor tactics, playing players out of position, and inability to change the game with tactics or substitutions. It's disappointing that pundits have not called out Gregg until now. The media is part of the problem in U.S. Soccer, and it's disheartening. My faith in U.S. Soccer, MLS, Don Garber, and the media has been shaken.

The New Coach will need to be Very Ambitious, to the point of fearing no opponent. His mentality and the way of looking at things in general, must represent the American mentality to a very large extent. He must be from a nation that's a friend of America, must have excellent communications skill, and extremely realistic, and achieve excellent Results immediately. Of course you have to give the Coach some level of control of scheduling matches and choosing venues based on what's best for the USMNT (kinda like Bruce Arena) Through Soccer you have to represent the Nation. Bora Milonitovich was a good coach, though he didn't speak good English. You can also bring a good Coach from England..! As long as there are good results from the get go, that would be considered a good choice. Success comes with many many many good results, never without them.

The necessity of speaking English is about having a good level of communication with the Players and the Media and also the US FANs, of course is critical. I would get the team captain in this conversation during the hiring, but to a certain limit, and also the Media behind closed doors. Once you present your new Coach the Players and the Media must be onboard as far as the Question about the Language. But soccer is not played in English or any other Language, it's played on the field. As long as there is a great understanding between the staff and the players and the results are there, then what ever language or however weird the accent, the Coach should be acceptable. It's about the Results, lock stock and barrel. Italy has 4 World Cups Germany 4 World Cups Brazil 5 World Cups France 2 World Cups Uruguay 2 World Cups Argentina 3 World Cups None of the above nations have for 1st language English England speaks English and they have 1 World Cup Trust me, when you win the world cup, you will be too happy to speak Afrikaans or Japanese, that Coach will be your best friend without ever meeting him, in any language.
