Thank you for all your videos. I started to make music on my own this year and your videos really helped me grasp new tools and plugins in garageband. You really helped me take a rough song and make it sound waaaay better with mixing! You are appreciated. 🥹

I believe you have the "Auto" section engaged on your stock Logic compressor. That means the auto-release is functioning and any changes you make to the release won't make any difference. It's the button right beside release, and it looks lit up to me.

It turns out that's not true, actually! That was always my thought too, but someone pointed out to me after I said that in a video a while back that if you deep dive into the Logic manual it actually works in conjunction with the release timing knob. Here's the excerpt from the Logic Pro Effect User Manual: "Auto Release button: Make the release time dynamically adjust to the audio material. The behavior of the auto release function (and compression results) change when different Release knob values are used."

Even though its set to auto it is still set around the time you manually set it to. More like a fast, medium, slow type setting.

Colin, very helpful as ever. Does Logic offer appropriate alternatives to the two Waves plug-ins that you use? If so, what are they? Thank you.

The new ChromaGlow plugin could definitely replace the Kramer Tape! I've yet to find anything quite like Vitamin, though.

Thanks for this video Colin. In case of GarageBand, do I add all these plugins to the master track under step 2 of the Static mix? And, Colin, I need to ask you this: does the latest version of GarageBand provide for bus tracks? In a recent project, when I was automating the tape delay and reverb of Space designer plugins, I had found two bus tracks appear spontaneously. Can you please enlighten me regarding these bus tracks in GarageBand? I have sent you the screenshots to you in an email also. Regards. Have a great day.

Hi Dr. Somanna! Yes- under step 2. The main processing is the most important- everything else is just a bonus
@TheBandGuide2 ай бұрын
In terms of bus tracks in GarageBand- I'm not aware of them making this change. It's the "master echo" and "master reverb" that you're seeing as busses. I think it might just be a glitch that you're seeing it- but pretty cool!
@garudasomanna2 ай бұрын
@@TheBandGuide Thank you Colin. In retrospect, the master track of a GB project in effect serves as a bus that sends it effects upon all the tracks...right?
@DJWICCA2 ай бұрын
Hi 👋, how did you create bus on GarageBand ?? 😲
@terrykennedy-lares88402 ай бұрын
I think I need this. Can you do this in GarageBand?
@TheBandGuide2 ай бұрын
You can! it's step 2 of my mixing process. The only thing you can't do is the "preamp" emulation- you would need to get something like the Waves API 560 EQ to emulate that.
@MariJu1ce2 ай бұрын
Mix sounded better without the processing, I think its misleading to say mixbus processing is the most important part of your mix. Sorry just my opinion. you can definitely make a killer mix without anything on the mixbus.
@hoopscentral18282 ай бұрын
Mix did not sound better before lmao… i do agree with your last sentence but your first sentence makes me think you have no clue what your doing.
