I know this video is a few years old but I just bought the switch Jan 2020 because of its portability and being a full time firefighter. It's nice to be able to play videogames at work while everyone else is watching TV at night during are downtime but even at home I find myself playing it without a tv. I think I have only used the tv with it twice. I don't have a good controller for it yet.

Personally I didn't factor in the Wii U at all when thinking if the Switch would succeed. To me that doesn't make much sense, unless they had multiple systems fail in a row. Looking at the Switch on its own and ignoring the Wii U made it obvious to me the Switch would take off.

I play 99% of the time docked, using the pro-controller. I got LEGO City Undercover on WiiU and never really played it because of the loading times...what are they like on Switch? One thing I love about the Switch is it being region free. I like to get a physical game over digital, and games like Binding of Issac didn’t hit Australia for quite a while after US...and I don’t think it had all the extras...but I got my copy sent from the US, as well as Cave Story. I also got a physical copy of I Am Setsuna from Japan (you can play in English), and also Monster Hunter XX from Japan (this one is all in Japanese, but with google translate it’s playable).

First of all, love your channel, seattle represent, I've seen every video since I've subscribed about a year ago. Second of all, handheld mode is cool but I always play my switch on my 4k tv with the joycons! I don't have a pro controller yet but I must be one of the few people that genuinely loves using the joycons. Thirdly, Mario Odyssey and Zelda breath of the wild are incredible games and two of the best games I have ever played in my life. Nintendo is KILLING IT right now. And I am dying for the new Shin Megami Tensei 5 to be localized here, huge fan. Theyre hardcore dungeon crawlers that take place after the apocalypse where you, the 'hero', shape the new world. It's not like Persona, its much darker and more hardcore. Unfortunately you mentioned all the games I own, but I recommend everyone to play arguably the best 3d Mario ever because seriously, it is pure joy to play. Pure. Joy.

I play portably 90% of the time. Laying bed before I go to sleep, waiting at the doctor's office, at work when it's slow and you're kind of baby sitting other processes. Sometimes I drive up to Starbucks just to have a cup of coffee and play the Switch for a few hours when I'm off. For the most part, the only time I use the tv is when I'm doing multiplayer with family friends.

Suggestions: Golf Story, Cat Quest, and definitely if you played it on the NES get Blaster Master Zero, the nostalgia is real and it controls wonderfully. Disgaea 5 does take a bit of getting used to if you hadn't played the previous titles. It's 40-50hrs for the main story, hundreds to do everything, and the humor is great! I play Switch mostly portably with a pro controller, some Golf Story was handheld, but I do hook it up to a 92" projector screen and that made BotW a ton of fun!

fastRMX is a great racing game on the eshop, cheap to not the easiest game ever but fun is what matters also Axiom Verge for the switch, but chances are you might have played on another console already also all your physical games with the extra goodies were limited runs, if I recall right just preorder only/very early buyers people who buy later on just get the game this is how preorders should be done, give some day one extras but nothing in game

I keep it docked and use a 27" Acer monitor. For the first 10 days, I strictly used handheld mode. Once going to the "big" screen, I could never go back to handheld. The only game you don't have I'd recommend is ARMS.

Give Mario+Rabbids a go. Its actually pretty interesting intro to tactical games (ala x-com) Stardew Valley is a favorate for many, and ive heard Golf Story is pretty fun. Snipper clips is a fun co-op game.

As a huge Metroidvania fan I thank you for setting my eyes into The Mummy Demastered, wouldn't have noticed the game for years if it wasn't for you. I'm also a big shmup fan and having the option to play new shmups on the go is cool. Binding of isaac is perfect for portable gaming, every playthrough is different and it is incredibly fun. Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart are a given if you own the console. I haven't played Splatoon yet so I can't say anything about it. I mostly play it as a handheld, but every once in a while I might dock it to lay on the TV. What's that Metal Slug clone at 13:10? Nice to see you added a small Jamestown clip, I love that game as well.

I bought a lot of couch co op games for my Switch, I think the console is well suited for it, so here are some of my favorites. Death Squared is essentially like Portal 2's co-op mode, but in top down and without a portal gun. The entire game is played with just one stick per player and is deliberately desiged to get you yelling at your friends for being reckless. Great pickup for $13, can even be played with 4 players with just two pro controllers! Overcooked is one of the most stressful yet fun games I've played in a long while. While alone it becomes a slow, methodical game about figuring out when to switch chefs and when to do what tasks, it immediately becomes a hectic race against the clock when playing in co-op. 2v2 versus mode is a blast too; The game is a tad pricy for what its worth though, sitting at $20, but its a great game to play with people who dont play many games to begin with. Octodad Dadliest Catch has been around for a while, but I believe its better than ever on Switch. Putting each player in charge of an individual limb leads to incredibly funny situations and lots of slapstick visuals. Especially fun with kids.

Way forward is one of my favorite game making studios! One of my favorites from them is surprisingly a Regular Show game for the 3DS. It's like a classic platformer with it's own twist.

I usually play my switch portable, it's perfect when I'm on lunch breaks at work. When I'm home, I usually play it while I'm laying down. I don't play it on my TV because I have the dock setup by my bed and use it to not only charge my Switch but my phone and 3DS via dock USB ports. HEHE!

I wholeheartedly recommend VOEZ from the eShop! Great rhythm game, vast selection of songs that offer something for basically everyone, multiple difficulty levels for each song. But, as a heads up: at the end of January a physical version will release in Japan, which will have support for controllers as well. (As of right now, VOEZ is touchscreen only.)

When my wife is using the TV it's great to use it portable. One thing I do notice when playing portable, especially when playing special stages in Sonic Mania, is that my thumb falls asleep from lack of circulation. Might be a personal problem, but other than that I can go either way but always prefer the large HD screen.

You should get Has Been Heroes. It's for both the PS4 and the Switch so you can get it for the console of choice. It's got a retail release, but it's a Gamestop exclusive. Has Been Heroes is a lane defense game where you have three different characters each in their own lane. Each of the three characters have different statistics and each one attacks one, two, or three times. Each attack will reduce stamina by one to three depending on the character, and when at 0 stamina the enemy will start taking damage. To get the most use out of your attacks though is to swap characters between lanes after attacks, and attack enemies in a way to make them get 0 stamina first, which will stun them and allow you to do full damage against them. You'll be able to purchase items at the shops that will increase your stats and be able to purchase new spells. While on the map, you can only cross each area one time, if you cross it a second time, it'll use a candle and using all of your candles will give you a game over(which will start you back at the very beginning.) So you'll want to look at the map and determine your best course of action before you start moving, this way you can hit as many places as you can to make your characters as powerful as you can as the game gets harder and harder during the later levels. The game starts off with two levels, each one will randomly have you play one of two areas, meaning you'll fight one of two bosses which each take a different strategy to beat. After finishing the game though, the level extends to a third level(also has two different areas) and the difficulty gets even harder. Continue the game again, it adds a fourth area, and again makes the game harder. So far I've only finished the game five times, the sixth time each run takes around two hours if you make it to the end, and if I even make it to the last area, I still end up dying. Amazing game though, one that I've put over 100 hours in with as many attempts as I've put into it. Whether you complete the difficulty or not, as you collect souls you'll unlock new items and spells to acquire in future runs.
