To be honest, I'm rather conflicted about Braid. It's undeniably a great game, and the final sequence right before the ending is some of the best uses of video game mechanics as storytelling I've seen in a video game, not to mention the games time-flow mechanics in general are a lot of fun. The game just strikes me as a wee bit overly pretentious, which isn't helped by the fact that Johnathan Blow made a "walkthrough" for the game that wound up being a bait-and-switch telling people not to use a walkthrough. This is despite the fact that there are a number of puzzle pieces and weird things to find in the game that I think the vast majority of players would not be able to find without a walkthrough, not to mention Jonathan Blow kept getting into arguments online about the intended message and the "correct" way to play and interpret the game, which just really rubbed me the wrong way. This is probably why I've dragged my feet on checking out The Witness even though I heard it's also great, though that's another topic. Regardless, Braid is definitely worth playing, and you're probably better of playing it without listening to what Johnathan Blow has to say about how you should play it.
