Depends on how old the car is, or the last time you changed trans fluid. The torque converter will shutter and not lock up properly. You need to change trans fluid and maybe add a friction modifier to the trans and it will go away. I had checked everything she talked about here and couldn’t figure it out until a tech told me to change the trans fluid and it stopped. It felt like you were running over rumble strips.

Got a vibration sound more of a humming noise near the driver foot area when lightly acclerating. The humming vibration is strongest with light accleration, less with higher speed of 40+. Of course the cold start are really strong. 220k miles Sienna 2009
@BOC4ALL17 күн бұрын
Have an 88 sentra. Mine seems more idle related. Usually when first started it's ok, although sometimes idle is rough. After a few minutes of driving(warm or cold), it'll start to randomly shake, like it's sputtering, but it's worse when excelerating from a stop. On the highway around 50 it isn't bad. If it sits for a while, after you start driving, it's ok for a mile or so, then starts shaking again.

Ahh! Thanks! I finally have something to look into!! I ruled out the cv shafts, as I'm used to the joints getting noisy and eventually tugging the steering wheel. When I got my 2010 mazda3, the engine was nearly falling out, all of the mounts were shot. I bet the axle pulled out and damaged or lost the clip. I'll be back with my findings!

I replaced both the struts AND half-shafts on my 03' Grand Am GT; But I have a metalic, grating, grinding noise coming from the driver's side. I believe it's the strut-mount. It's possible I didn't tighten that middle securing nut when I installed the spring over the new strut.

What would happen if clip was in Transmission? I was sideswiped and had to have repairs--strut, wheel, body work on passenger side. Vehicle ran great for 6 months then the axle dislodged (I believe from transmission); they said it must have been knocked slightly loose by the accident and then missed by mechanics and insurance adjuster. Anyways, there has been a slight vibration on both pedals and floor board every since the made the axle repairs. Took it back later and they replaced tie rods and steering column, but it barely helped with the vibration...

Hi Sue. Is there a clip on the front passenger side axle. I replaced it but didn’t see a clip and now when I go over bumps I hear a popping noise and when I go on sharp turns. ‘03 Honda Element. I checked and it seems there about 3mm play between the transmission and axle. I pushed it back in but keeps coming out slightly. I feel a vibration when I go over 80. Thanks for the great videos. You make it seem so easy lol

What's normal play for where the inner axle connects to the transmission? Was the axle toast and that's why the whole thing was replaced and not just the clip?

Holy crap Sue that's awesome! I have never seen this called out before. I have an observation... at 3:52 you can see a harmonic ballast mounted mid-shaft on that axle. In all my years (30+) of owning Mazdas, the newer ones have had these on the axles from the factory. As the miles pile on I eventually need new axles, yet they seem to never come with that harmonic ballast. Any thoughts on this? I just wonder if the foreign reman factories are tossing the ballast during axle rebuilds instead of repurposing them. I have an odd warble in my Mazda 6 in 1st gear (V6 manual) acceleration and I've always wondered if this is the cause. The axle is not pulling from the transaxle as you've shown here. Again, thanks for the great video!!
