Wagwan, American mandem ere, I didn’t know a ting about London until I started listening to grime around 2009. I learned so much about the culture without reading a book. I even went from listening to grime to listening to UK garage, D&B, Jungle, Bassline, and other genres because of pirate radio recordings standing the test of time. As much as I’m happy to see the grime mandem see success, I miss grime before the money. Straight bars on pirate sets. Those old eski, Danny weed, Jon e cash beats. I always just go back on KZbin and listen to the old grime and I pretend I’m experiencing for the first time on radio. Much love to the uk mandem!

I know that London has social depravation- but they have it a lot easier than other parts of the UK. For example, ex-mining towns have a lot of depravation and unemployment, and also very poor transport which makes it very difficult to travel to work. Many of these estates are totally isolated. Londoners in deprived areas at least have access to good transport which helps with getting a job. Plus, culture from London is marketable.
