While I was rooting for Ant, I'm still happy for Johnny winning. But concerning this, since Johnny won anyways despite incorrect counting, we got to see the video run a little longer. He won fair and square plus showing off a little more. So all's well that ends well. Also, I noticed Ant didn't get a point for '2001' at the end of the video, so it evens out.

I'm surprised that the evil laughter that naturally left my mouth as Ant thought Puyo Puyo was Mean Bean Machine didn't disturb my neighbors. It feels like revenge for every time i've seen someone mistake *anything* Puyo Puyo for DrRMBM. For the record, the Puyo Puyo stage 1 theme does appear in the credits for Mean Bean, but it's so heavily mixed for some reason that I don't still don't think the point is warranted.

Another version of the theme that's even more faithful to the original Puyo Puyo theme was actually made for Mean Bean Machine, but when unused. The only difference I can tell between the two is the percussion.

Johnny's good content! He admits he started as one of those cynic reviewers like AVGN so his older content might be a bit hit-or-miss these days but he's since mellowed out to give more level-headed reviews about stuff he loves looking back on and sometimes newer games that just came out as well as patreon-requested games. I'd give his Metroid retrospective a look, he recently went through the mainline games and ended with Metroid Dread, he's a big fan of the series so hearing him gush about it is always great to watch. He's also on another channel called Brainscratch Commentaries which is like a let's play channel but instead of playing it live he and three of his friends (Ryan, Lewis, and Ted, and sometimes guests) all comment on the recording one of them did playing the game.

Fun fact: the Theme of Puyo Puyo is actually present in Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine in two forms. The first is used at the ending, which changed some of the original's melody for some reason but it's pretty similar to the original song to a point it's difficult to not add the removed bits into your head or when humming it. The other is the original song completely unused, likely leftover data from when they changed it from Puyo Puyo. So, technically, AntDude was right with the game, but I wouldn't have counted it either for the factors that one isn't one you can listen to normally and the other is too different to be the same exact song.

Recognized that the art was the same as Dragon's Crown, which I never got to play cause I had sold my PS3 before it came out. Lucky me that they ported it to PS4 too :D. Never fell in love with a game so quick. Movement felt great, combat felt great and the second the victory fanfare played I realized it was the same composer as Final Fantasy XII which I adore. His company does the music for all Vanillaware games. And the first character you play is a Valkyrie with a spear and a move that is 100% a reference to Nibelung Valesti from Valkyrie Profile, so Odin Sphere instantly got bonus points for that too.

just my 2 cents regarding the Mean Bean Machine answer the answer is indeed Puyo Puyo, more specifically the track is called " Theme of Puyo Puyo". Puyo Puyo was originally an arcade game that was later ported to the Mega Drive in Japan and was later brought over to North America and Europe with a new coat of paint. Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine was not just a simple reskin as the music in this version is also completely different. The vast majority of the music was replaced with original tunes with exceptions of a few arranged ones from Puyo Puyo. Heck even the unused Theme of Puyo Puyo in Mean Bean Machine sounds different compared to what you hear in Puyo Puyo.

How to end a mens whole career with a mean bean machine? That one point made the difference^^' Also about the final round: One last track is weirdly balanced. It's very short. If player A has 10 points it doesn't seem to matter if player B has 11 or 12 points. Depending on how much points the last track is worth it doesn't seem to matter how big a lead is and that can devalue questions in round 4 entirely which I don't think should be the case. My approach would be something like this: 10 tracks cut down to a couple of seconds and then played in one go without replay. Both players write down their answers and for each correct track they get 1 point. The player who is behind could make up to 10 points in theory which should make most final rounds matter and if the player is more than 10 points behind I think it's fair that the other player wins by default(of course I would still play the round just for fun). Steve or whoever gets the answers checks the answers for the final score and once it is determined I would play something like a Mario Party track that plays when announcing the winner to...well...announce the winner and after that talk about the solutions, how the episode was, what went wrong etc. Post show stuff Anyways, great episode with great players and a great host^-^
