Well the vn has three routes so heaven's feel is only 1/3rds the length, for the record the 24 ep ubw was well paced, hf basically needed a 2 cour anime as well (which isn't unreasonable) 3 movies would mean a runtime equivalent to 9-10 anime eps

It's normally the committee, although ufotable has a lot of influence over them so ufotable has a say in the decision as well, but for most other shows, their respective committees decide

I feel KnK is Ufotable most creative work yet especially KnK 5, the directing is superb and somehow I also enjoy it's visual the most, maybe not because it is better looking than HF or DS, it's probably the atmosphere

I wouldn't say heaven's feel is the best looking anime ever, in terms of compositing and art direction maybe, but even then there's violet evergarden and some of the comix wave movies that are just as incredible if not better. If we're talking just about 2D animation, then it's not even in the top ten; there are way too many movies that came even 20+ years ago (spriggan, Akira, ghost in the shell) that have more complex 2D animation than heaven's feel. You should watch redline if you haven't already. The thing that makes heaven's feel incredible is that the production schedule is just normal; around 2 years, with the team juggling between the movies and other projects like demon slayer, So if you compare it to other movies made in about the same conditions, like jjk 0, mugen train, non canon shounen movies etc, then it is indeed the best and nothing comes close.

Again I don't mean it's objectively the best looking show, everything I say is just my opinion, also I'm not just talking about the pure 2d animation, I'm talking about the all around visuals, down to the compositing and even the actual storyboards, hf is essentially everything I like about anime visuals

I’d say overall, Heavens Feel is better than violet evergarden but like you said, certain Co Mix Wave films are probably just as good. It’s kinda hard to compare them because they have such different styles, with Heavens Feel being obviously a lot more action oriented and also the way Ufotable uses their compositing is a lot different than Co mix.

Very good video. I love studio ufotable and it is my most favorite studio for its creativity and the art and animation. Also is the Heavens Feel trilogy my favourite anime and the movies had the best looking animation I have ever seen. Maybe the opening of Ciel Route of Tsukihime Re: was even better. Especially the CGI-landscapes are so great of details. I'm hyped for the mahoutsukai no yoru movie. Also bought the visual novel which I'm excited about. Keep your work up. Love your videos. ;)

I think the next step for ufotable is highly detailed art... That's the next step in their evolution... Something like Tokyo ghoul since it's got highly detailed art Would present ufotable with the biggest challenge which would ultimately lead to them really putting alot of studios to shame... I just wonder how would they would capture the whole mood around something as dark as Tokyo ghoul... (hypothetically) How would ufotable handle psychological horror..? How would they show kaneki's unstable mental condition...?

Normally I'd say Tokyo ghoul won't be their strongest adaptation, but kara no koukai does sort of fit into the psychological horror genre so you never know, I personally think that Tokyo ghoul is best adapted, or re adapted by the psycho pass team

My Manga catalogue is really low tbh, if i had to pick something id pick hakomari (a light novel) and fata morgana (a visual novel) however both those will be extremely tricky adaptations...

While I like the aesthetics of Demon Slayer (especially the representation of the swordsmanship styles), Fate Zero is the one that appeals to me the most. I love Kara no Kyoukai too

Glad someone also think same like me that tengen fight is overuse of effects and lack fight choreography but people will praise it like ufotable's best work to this date when saber vs Medusa was much better Great video again...hope you will cover other studios also specially kyoani or old madhouse

Just about every frame of that fight was carefully choreographed, even though it was moving too fast for people to casually notice. Seriously, just check it frame-by-frame. Or watch @-MankoMan 's review on it, where he basically debunked the' no choreography' claim more clearly. Also explained was how that fight specifically didn't have any more effects than most Heaven's Feel fight. I'd personally say it's at least Ufotable's best TV work so far. The Theatrical Fate and KnK stuff are mostly on another level

This might be a stupid question irrelevant to this video. I have watched kyoani's silent voice, Kobayashi's dragon maid both seasons, clannad, nichijou, hyouka and lucky star. Why are they preferring slice of life over action?

That's just their style I'd imagine, maybe most of their animators probably specialise in character acting (kyoani is one of those few studios that have in house talent)

Ufotable isn’t done with Type-Moon yet…not by a long shot. They are animating Mahoutsukai no Yoru (Mahoyo), which is the best looking visual novel I have ever seen. Ufotable tends to overdo their visuals/elevate it from the source, and with how amazing Mahoyo looks in the visual novel already, I can already see it surpassing the Heaven’s Feel movies in terms of art, animation, and compositing. Add that on with Tsukihime potentially coming in the future by Ufotable as well, I can see the gap widening even more.

depends on how much time they spend on it.if they only spend a year i just dont see that happening.anime studios never seem to have control of how much time they have to spend on something thats why some end up having no choice but tu cut corners

​@@animoments8969 That's true, but in Ufotable's case, they do. They almost always are a part of the production comittee for the shows they make, so they can negotiate to get better schedules for their works.

I feel like ufotable deliberately chosen to make step down in demon Slayer not too much but as average animation (Even that average standard of their is better then 90% of the TV shows) And after each season, they will step up more and more Like Entertainment district arc>>Mugen train arc>> Season 1 So I definitely think they will increase their standards each arc and will definitely reach their peak in last arc! (Atleast I hope so)

Great video... Except that part where you dismissed the Demon slayer S2 fight as just blades clashing randomly. @-MankoMan analyzed the fight in one of his videos, and he pointed out how every moment of that seemingly random clash was actually very well choreographed frame by frame, even though it was moving too fast for viewers to pick up on (which was kinda the point of the directorial style of that sequence). He also pointed out how one style of fight direction isn't necessarily "superior" to another just because. (in this case, the choreography focused style vs the spectacle focused style). One more thing I want to add personally is that DS was a weekly TV anime, while Heaven's Feel was a top value theatrical project. So of course the latter would end up looking incomparably better than the former. But I still agree that Heaven's feel was Ufotable's best work to date, and it kinda set a new standard for modern anime movies.

For A-1, if I had to list their top 5 best looking anime in terms of visual: (At least in the shows I saw by them.) 1. SAO (Especially Season 3 and the movies, feels like Ufotable animated it at its peak in terms of animation. Ordinal Scale’s city art/background art/cgi looks like a Shinkai film, considering the fact that Ordinal Scale accurately animated REAL places in Tokyo.) 2. Shigatsu Wa Kimi No Uso (Accurate piano/violin animation, beautiful background art, lively character art, beautiful usage of colors.) 3. 86 (Good looking CGI mechs, amazing background art/character expressions, has some of the best scene transitions I’ve seen in anime, final couple episodes are a visual/directorial spectacle.) 4. 7 Deadly Sins (great choreo in the action sequences with very consistent art quality throughout. Keep in mind I am not talking about the seasons that Deen was in charge of, only speaking of the parts when A-1 was in charge of before they handed the show off.) 5. Fate/Apocrypha (Has amazing fights and choreo with excellent animation, but falls short due to inconsistent art throughout its run, mainly due to time constraints.) Solo Leveling might make it in the top 5 in terms of visual for A-1 if they adapt the manhwa correctly and don’t disappoint, seeing how good the manhwa panels looked. Add that on with the Fate/Strange Fake anime special coming out on New Years (and when it does get a full anime it will most likely be A-1) the list could change even more.

If you're going anime only watch fate stay night unlimited blade works first, followed by heaven's feel and then fate zero (don't trust anyone who says you should watch fate zero first) personally I recommend playing the visual novel for fate stay night first but I'd imagine most would not be interested, either way fate ubw, followed by fate hf, and then fate zero

I think Emiya Gohan has the best animation, it draws attention to itself in a good way and rewards you Fate/Zero looks the best because of dramatic contrast and shading, its animation gets overshadowed UBW looks flat in comparison, HF overdoes it instead, KnK is ambitious but thankfully not overblown...

I'm the kind that laments FSF is not done by them, because such a fun LN deserves the best in the business. Also I admit they have flaws as adaptations, but Strange Fake could be hard to butcher (pacing wise it's already fucked, nevermind it looks worse than DEEN). Sorry for the quick answer.

@@ProbablyPretentious If you can and want to and have the time for it you should. Akira I feel like is one of those older animes you have got to see you appreciate how good the 90s where. Holy shit was it too good. It looks like some of the current good looking running modern animes today which is crazy considering back then in the early 2000s no anime has come to hold a candle to Akira unless it's a well made movie by either Madhouse or some other good-looking movie in the early 2000s. Akira influence to animation and anime is absurd and still lingers strongly and used about even to this time. Getting amazing references from it's amazing animation of its time in other shows. Now there are other movies or shows after it or maybe before it (haven't watched too much good looking shows like it before Akira came out yet so maybe my opinion will change) that's way better than it is but considering what it managed to achieve in it's time is absurd and amazing.
