I just tried a piece of foam that you would buy for putting underneath a window air conditioner and works really well. I have the same Bass and just love it. Been thinking about upgrading but not sure I really need to. Thanks for your video!

A fret wrap only mutes open strings (you can hear it in your examples). It’s useful for dampening open strings when playing.

Thank's for adding that. I should have explianed the open string dampening. I just "wing it" when doing the demo part of my videos. Although I "Think" it also sounds dampened when I play fingered note using the fret wrap, my favorite, and the only one I really use is the piece of folded 1/2" foam. In my mind palm muting is a different technique for a different sound - more staccato notes and a tighter sound from playing near the bridge.

The fret wrap serves a whole different purpose as the mutes. It is used to avoid ringing of the strings behind the fretting finger, for example when doing tapping.
