I always felt like Steve Raglan turning out to be William Afton was never supposed to be a twist. It was more like a moment for fans to see just how easily Afton can assume a new identity and manipulate people into doing what he wants by knowing what he knows about them against them. Just like he does with the kids both when they were alive and dead.

I do like how they settled on the idea of making the movie an alternate universe as opposed to making it directly related to the game. It makes it easier to understand for newcomers. And it'll get the fans speculating and theorize what could happen based on the games I think a sequel has been confirmed so I'm very excited for what's to come. My main question is if they're gonna take the same route as the games and make it a prequel or they'll simply continue the story. And if they make it a sequel will they make it about Mike? Jeremy? the "i always come back" thing actually makes sense if you REALLY think about it. he knew that the animatronics came alive because they were possessed by the dead kids, so he knew he would still be somewhat alive. this would also explain why he has the animatronics kill anyone they see and stuff them in a suit, just like the funtimes in the game lore

The main theory currently about the vanessa situation is that they swapped the afton and henry families, since in the training video we see someone who's oddly familiar to mike's dad building the animatronics, so people assumed that's him and in the movie's canon this is how it works. People also think that william killed garrett first out of jealousy (just like charlie in game's canon) and that he's the puppet, but that's another can of worms, basically the movie took some game and book canons and mish-mashed them into one confusing mess, it's gonna be interesting to separate the game canon from book canon to movie canon from now on. poor Matt

I have my own weird theory about Garrett and Mike's family...most kids if kidnapped would scream, drop their toy... something...it looks to me like Garrett got voluntarily in the car because he knew that person. Also, we were never told how Mike's parents died...could be Mike's mom is Afton's ex-wife. He didn't just happen to be in the woods...he knew they were going camping and went there to get and kill Garrett for revenge and then kills Mike's mother too.

@@homespace1268 I wouldn't be surprised if Mike is revealed to actually be William's kid. But I don't think they'll go the same route for Garett. And as Mike didn't recognise William (nor did he recognise Mike until he read the last name), I'd prolly say Mike's mom left William and married Mr. Smith before Mike was 3 years old, which is usually the time most kids start creating lasting memories, and they never officially crossed paths again. This would mean William did prolly stalk his ex (which, who would be surprised tbh. It's William). But it does leave open some questions, like why did he kidnap and kill Garrett, if Mike's right there and would be his actual son? Or why didn't Garrett panic and why did he just go with an assumed stranger? Did William manage to form some bond with the kid through continuously stalking them?

So that kinda makes Afton only having 1 kid kinda make sense idk man

In the books, afton only ever had one kid too, being Elizabeth. Vanessa fits into her character pretty well, actually. It might just be a coincidence, but i also noticed that Vanessa’s actress is Elizabeth Lail. I dont think she’s supposed to be similar to charlie at all.

Here r my ideas to improve the movie & "review" of it: After first dream, Mike wakes up in the first night to see Bonnie gone, later Chica disappears too (He'd wake up in 2 or 3 A.M.) After one of dream things, u could see eyes of spirits turn black & black tears (Like in minigames & that bad movie jumpscare) for a short moment before Mike wakes up confused Well, combining night 3 & 4 would feel too rushed, imagine truly seeing these robots up close only to see them building forts later Also during night 4, Mike could tell Vanessa that animatronics smell bad, it's called - FORESHADOWING (for Night 5 plot twist) It'd be cool if in night 2 of fnaf movie, it'd be simular to classic fnaf 1 stuff, but all 4 animatronics would try to hunt down Mike, it'd be like in Onaf - Each hour is harder than it's previous one It'd make sense for it not to happen in night 5, as the animatronics knew what to expect & while Mike's sleeping, Foxy came from left & put him in that torture mechanism & Mike would need to get out It'd show animatronics as smart, like they don't fall for the same stuff & do things differently or smth Scratch that! Freddy is fast & has no hook as one hand, so he should be the one to make Mike to torture device in night 5 Funny, isn't it? All Freddy related bots are the ones which lead to death of 2 people Abby knew & almost killed her brother I wish fnaf movie was actually scary, i don't really understand how William uses drawings to control. That custody sub plot also ended kinda badly. Nobody acknowledges death of Aunt Jane, Mike doesn't even know that he was betrayed by her Now here's not actual review: I found "It's me" refference when during one scene in office where everything was glitching I don't mind William having little screentime. He's supposed to be mysterious villain anyway. Tbh blood not leaking from Spring bonnie suit is kinda realistic. I like how at the end, Matthew made him sound intentionally worse cuz of the pain William endures. His final speech was cheesy but i liked it. I feel like it'd be better if animatronics shoved Spring Bonnie mask on his face, instead of him doing so. But maybe it's connected to William sort of narcissism. William took his pain like a champ & didn't gave pleasure to his previous victims as seeing him suffer. Ngl, William had some sort of charm in this movie I like how animatronics dragged him. It looked cool He also mentioned some owner, which means that Henry might appear in sequel My take is a hot one: I hate game fnaf lore, Henry was introduced too late in the story & i prefer One Night at Flumpty's trilogy anyway (Flumpty is my fav fnaf related character) I hope in sequel we get the reason to why PG killed those kids, like it'd be explained by Henry, no worries, i don't want Henry to just be exposition dump. Ngl, i like pure evil villains In Puss in Boots 2, i prefer Jack Horner over Death I just think that killing kids is a huge deal & we should know why he did that. Also Vanessa being William's daughter makes me interested in their background Ok, William aside I dunno, it's weird to me that whe these filler villains entered pizzeria after Mike left, and it happend after 6 A.M. but Animatronics were still like hostile. But i guess it was some sort of change too. Which makes things even more dangerous (Or was that a thing that William made them do) Overall, i hate all fnaf games aside from 4, HW, SB DLC was mid & i dunno how to feel abt fnaf 1, i had good mood & expectations before watching it & everything was even better than i expected, refferences were great but the actual reasons why i like this movie were characters, how Mike's plot was connected to main story, i like how everything was answered, this movie made me smile a lot while i was watching (I rarely smile) so i hope i wasn't looking weird near some small girl who was sitting near me & saying some lore related stuff to her parents Wen i heard living tombstone song, i started to quietly sing it to myself Overall this movie was like 7/10 I like how devious Spring Bonnie looked with eyebrows in movie intro Major flaw of this movie that it isn't scary. My fav charactet is either Mike or William Tbh i like these presense William had by adding drawings of yellow rabbit. Imagine being a regular guy, seeing these drawings as smth adorable, like his smile looked weird but kids do mistakes while drawing right? But once u find out the twist, u see this sadistic monster, pure evil, sh1thead with his grin. Ngl, William kinda appears randomly, but i liked it... it was unexpected. I liked how his first action trying to mentally f2ck up Mike & just kill him there This movie made me feel tense for character, i felt worried for Abby cuz i thought that Chica would kill her (That suit in which Chica wanted to put her in was some sort of refference abt fnaf book character i never heard of) I felt tense of guy whom was killed by Bonnie, i just imagined how fcked he basically was... i was too when i played fnaf 1 many times as a kid (Couldn't pass night 2 cuz of rabbit) Didn't recognise Mat till i saw comments on internet. This movie had more villains then i expected (Minor villain, now i remember the word) & i don't mind red eyes I don't understand how William was controlling animatronics too. At least Mike was given reason to not quit his job after night 3 I like Cory's cameos Also i like how William's eyes looked before he put on mask for the final time Tbh i like the sounds William was making during springlock scene, like he was hiding his pain from victims cuz of his pride, he looked like he was abt to cry out of pain, but he put himself back together, said the speech & accepted death like a champ Which is one of the reasons why i like his speech I found these comments on internet which i agree with: "I love how he didn't scream or even panic. He knew that would only make the spring locks activate more, so he kinda just accepted his fate instead of screaming and shouting. I think that's one of my favourite details. Also Matthew lillard absolutely slaughtered this role" (I'm not sure if i agree with the last sentence, Matthew was good but not that good. Maybe i should check more scenes of William in movie. I guess that he works. Overall i like the Movie William) "If you think about it, the fact that it's bloodless is a bit more realistic. If you're stabbed, blood doesent pour out of you unless the thing that stabbed you is removed. While there will be some bleeding (as we saw) it'll be a lot less worse than we saw in the minigame. Also, the suit seems to be going one at a time with the springlocks, which is more horrifying that most off them all at once." I might feel like William is my fav character in movie Ngl, "I always come back" seemed kinda forced. But i like the way William said it & he basically wanted to always HAUNT his victims in any way possible Not sure if i said it or not, but i was shocked wen Springlock scene happend Tbh i was a happy person when i walked out of my movie theature Tbh fnaf movie has main flaws: It's hard to understand if u r not a fnaf fan It's not scary And there was no real explaination to how William controlled animatronics & changed their memories That really isn't major issue for me, but i wish there were more scenes where Mike was all alone with animatronics, that was another creep factor of fnaf 1. Like, Vanessa doesn't seem that busy as a cop Edit: here's a smart thing user flarestriker6870 wrote when he saw my ideas "Like that idea where the animatronics are shown as smart and not fall for the same things again. Also noticed that when Bonnie and Chica were blocking the vent to place The Cupcake in the vent while the thieves were inside the pizzeria, I'm guessing they learned that the Previous Nightguard tried to escape using the vent one time(Foxy still caught him though) and wanted to prevent it from happening again." Main & credits themes of movie are bangers

Who could have thought that FNAF would work better when you are forced to streamline the plot? Like, the series as it stands has always planted it's lore in either absolutely obscure places, in books the people only interested in the game would never read or pushed to the next game because scott was confused how people didnt figure out his very carefully crafted lore from like 2 8-bit minigames and no sense of an actual timeline of events. So yeah. The lore of the different Freddy-verses (Books/Games) has been compelling, so of course it would work when you put it into a format that actually requires it to have plot.

They could’ve fixed the Afton creation issue by having him appear as the technician working on E.N.D.O. 01 and idk smiling at the camera. It’d show he was important at Freddy’s

Dawko made some good points about the picture Abby drew of Afton killing the kids. I watched the movie in a theater with my adult son...a week after it released. So I knew about MatPat's cameo. I still got a few tears in my eyes. And now I've got tears in my eyes again. Because of MatPat & Steph I started watching several KZbinrs, such as yourself, that have become favorites. Before the movie my son knew nothing about FNAF other than the trailers. He didn't think it would be very good because...video games...but he ended up enjoying the movie. I wanted to eat pizza after, but there weren't any good pizza places in the town we went to...so we ate at a burger place named...Freddy's.

10:30 I was worried about this as well after watching it. I have a friend who is a huge movie buff but never heard of FNAF before my friends and I told him to watch the movie. Only thing he knew going into the movie was that it was a wildly successful video game and book franchise that had a movie held up for a while until now. He went to watch it and actually loved it overall but admitted there were a few spots that felt like it was rushed or felt like he missed something (lore understanding). He really wants a sequel though, wished the movie pushed that murder/horror bar just a smidge more and fixed those pacing issues. So I'm hoping that holds true for others without any knowledge of the lore.

Okay, here's my two cents about Aunt Jane. Maybe the money for fostering Abby is a factor for her to want to bring it to court, but honestly she seems the type of person who would have blamed Mike for the original kidnapping. Like, he couldn't keep a close enough eye on Garrett, how and why would anyone expect him to take care of another human being. And Jane likely also blames Mike for everything else that happened after that: if he hadn't let Garrett get taken, their mother wouldn't have died, and their father wouldn't have disappeared. Everyone has that one relative who's a narcissist.

Has ANYONE considered the possibility that Vanessa in the movie wasn't Afton's biological child, but kidnapped and brainwashed (because he wanted a child) since we don't know if he ever even had a wife in the movie-verse.

There was little bit of this video that was talking about the movie’s timeline. And as far as I can tell, there are about 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 different timeline continuities, depending on how you count. The games, the Silver Eyes Trilogy, and the Movie are our definitive timelines. The Fazbear Frights are a bit interesting though. Because the original FF was kinda its own thing but also connected to the SE novels. The Tales from the Pizzaplex, however seem to be much more connected to the games, specifically Security Beach, but also has some weird differences. Not a lot, mind you, but enough to wonder if they are the same continuity. So our final count is about 3 1/2 with all of the Fazbear Frights being connected to the games somehow, or 4 1/2 with one iteration of the Fazbear Frights being entirely disconnected.

6:00 After watching some people talk about the movie, it makes seance why he says that. It's because afton in the movie figured out how does the soul posession works with the robots by this point, so he puts on the mask so he can posess the spring bonie constum after he dies.

My friend Emma (Spookyastronauts here on KZbin) asked some of her friends to look over her script where she broke down the bare bones of FNAF lore. I have never played a FNAF game in my life, but I felt so confident since I've watched every single one of your videos. She did a great job, actually! I even gave her the link to your FNAF playlist, which she linked in her description, for people who wanted a much deeper dive into the lore. Lol. I'm so glad the movie wasn't terrible to you. A lot of people had a ton of negative things to say about it. Lol.

I do want to say I think the idea is that the afton siblings are still there, just currently not related to afton as abby would be elizabeth, mike is still mike, and garrett is crying child. It seems that maybe the children are swapped to where mike mentions that his dad is still alive to vanessa when they're at the river, so maybe henry will be the dad of the siblings instead of william in the next movie as they learn what's going on and vanessa might end up as a stand in for charlie/ the puppet

Why would the movie need to follow the lore that closely? I'm personally glad they kept it simple. I view the movie as a separate universe from the main FnaF lore. Please don't encourage them to complicate it, we get enough of that already. The "I'd be of no help" thing just meant she was scared of her abusive father.

It’s time for Mat Pat’s Fun Fact! Steve Raglan is in fact an anagram for “Everlastang”, a little nod to the “I always come back” quote and an ‘a’ replacing the ‘I’ to troll people who would inevitably figure this out (like MatPat)

A friend of mine knew nothing about FNaF but since she heard me saying I was gonna see it so she watched and loved it! The movie has its own lore, separated from the games, just like the books! I honestly like the change, they make the lore much easier, especially for those who don’t know the games one. The 2 main families swap was in my opinion a smart move, cuz how are you gonna make Josh a purple walking corpse trying to set on fire his father, while dealing with the trauma of *killing* his younger brother. The FNaF lore is confusing as it is, and for a movie this is perfectly simplified, keeping some key elements.

I'm about to give write Scott a reasonable excuse for why vanny could be vannesa. While Vanessa was a kid, William implanted a chip VIA ingestion or just during a surgery, that turns Vanessa into his puppet for a bit. Thus making vanny. Maybe she got into an accident with the spring locks, but managed to get out in time to survive with minimal damages.

Matthew Patrick seems like a nice person as a whole. I am glad he never gets into politics like so many KZbinrs that do things that have nothing to do with politics. It's like...if your channel isn't political, then DON'T TALK ABOUT IT. Don't react to anything political, don't be intentionally obvious what side you take by making side comments about current events, and don't make assumptions about other people based off things they say/do...as it's none of your business. So he seems like a good guy, he seems intentional in his way where he goes out of his way to be neutral by saying nothing at all, concerning the modern world.

I admit I am not a FNAF fan but I do know a little bit about it thanks to watching KZbinrs play it, a movie shouldn't be made just for the fans because the purpose is to make new ones, so from a unbiased point of view, it was a silly movie with poor writing when it came to the horror aspect FNAF was generally known for, and character motivation. Vanessa was definitively the worst part for me.

I can picture a sequel where the younger sister is grown up and is trying to free the spirit possessing the puppet who ends up being her brother then for a third movie Vanessa comes back in a plot that more closely follows a Security Breach storyline.
