Amazing how a little reverb can beautifully transform the sound into a different space.

I really love my carbony standard D its a very well made whistle and the sound is always reliable. I wish I had actually started on this whistle instead of the dozen or so cheaper whistles whose quality matched their price. No seriously I loved playing on the whistles regardless to brand or maker but after awhile I became very discouraged and I thought I wasn't that good but it turns out I was better then I thought my little cheap whistles couldn't keep up with me ( I am only an intermediate player). The Carbon D helped me be a better player. At any rate I later bought a whistle that was made from wood from a very well known maker it cost quite a bit more then the carbony. But when I finally got it the whistle wasn't nearly as good as it should have been. In fact I think I was scammed and he sent me a whistle that had been returned ( packaging was suspicious). My point is cost is not always an indicator and Rob is awesome to work with every single time I spoke to him was pleasant and informative.

Thanks for this comparison! I actually have been looking for a comparison of the Carbony standard, which I have, vs. the quiet model, and here it is! LOL! 😄

Thank you, Stephanie! This came to me at just the right time. I’m due for a big upgrade on my first $11 whistle. I don’t think I’ll go carbony just yet but this is great info and I’ll be checking out your other reviews!

Now that I think about it. There was girl form my younger days who looked very much like you, and she was not a Whistle player, but she played flute and even ecouraged me at the time, as I was learning more and more how to play the Ocarina. I've found that with Whistles, the thickness of the cylinder can effect how shrill or warm the tone is. I just bought an Acorn Brass D Whistle, and it is thicker and has a deeper and warmer tone then my Faedog

Interesting. I prefer the tone of the quiet whistle as it seems the least breathy.

I was wondering if you have heard of whistles from The Whistlesmith in the state of Maine in the USA ? I am interested in their products but am unable to find much in the way of reviews on them. The little that I am able to discover seems positive. I trust your opinion and just thought that I would ask as most of the info that I have is from their website. Thank you.

Aïe ! My poor ears didn't like the "quiet" whistle !! The standard one was more agreable to hear. Will you cover one day the Hush whistle or the Parks in your video ? They seem to be really quiet. Thanks for your videos Stephanie 🙂
