If you are Mon-Fri OTR you would get back home Saturday am. Line haul generally runs at night.

I'm sorry it took me awhile to respond. Since you don't have line-haul I'd suspect you'd be able to get into P&D with no issue and get line-haul experience with a trainer when they get you up to speed in P&D Good luck!!!

Took me 4 days for the background to come back. March 1st -4th 2022. I have orientation tomorrow. I applied and received a call from the recruiter the next day. I told her I was OTR at the moment and was home 1 more day before I go back. She set up an in person interview that very same day, after the interview I went strait down to do physical and drug test. I think it actually took safety longer to approve me to start the background process. Lol. 2 weeks from application to orientation.

Depends on where you are located and how the doctor does them, normal for me, if you are asking about the cup test, it's standard.

The vacation now is 2 weeks (80 hrs) @ hire after I believe 60 days. You do not need to bid on vacation. You take it when you want as long as the availability is there.

Im leaving ODFL also to come to estes.. got the job did drug test and physical just waiting on my background check. Like you od terminal was too far from my house to do solo home everyday the estes terminal in kennesaw, ga is way closer to my house so its the convenience mainly. Odfl is an amazing company this is like a heartbreak its the first trucking company i actually enjoyed one may even say i loved my job and time at odfl.. but you have to team for a year before solo and ive done teaming my whole career with my wife. She doesnt drive anymore so im done driving with a random driver i wanna be free and solo.. i believe this wasn't a coincidence this job opening opened up so i know estes isn't perfect but overall im sure its going to be an amazing experience and the pros will outweigh the cons in the long run..

Yes they will call you from Virginia there Corporate office and then they sent it to the terminal manager and they call you for interview Seems like a lot but I applied 5am and now 2 days later have an interview

Yes, it's all over the place with what's going on with Yellow, if it does go south there are going to be many options for you all. Either company would be a good pick, especially with the in certainty. I switched mainly because I wanted to be a solo driver and all that was available to me was team for a long time at OD. The wages are comparable - OD pays for more things like fueling your truck, drop and hook is different than Estes, but it's good pay either way.

It was urine at the time I worked there. I'm not judging but you have a CDL, why have this concern? It's not my business at all, if it legit prescription, disclose your scripts, don't hide it, if something happens you are at fault if not disclosed, o matter which carrier.

Every background check is different because we are all different 😉 - You can reach out to hireright or whomever we use now and ask for a status update. Not sure what terminal you going to but you can check in with the terminal manager as well. Welcome and be safe

@@hurt1704 Hi, yes I'm still here. I do not know the lanes out of terminals other than mine really. Xtra is not bad and going to a direct linehaul run is all dependent on demand, retirements etc. The TM would be able to tell you what the length of wait would be.

Hi, Per the requirements: 21 years of age required per FMCSA regulations (1 year driving experience required) With that being said, I would reach out to the terminal manager where you are interested and see if there is anything you could do to attain experience with Estes if you really want to join our team. How is the medical benefit at estess?

Hi, I am very happy with the medical offered. My weekly deduction is a little cheaper than what I paid at Old Dominion. We use Cigna for Health, Davis Vision and Delta for Dental. I however do not like the FSA. You pay into your FSA and then pay your deductible or cost of service and then turn the receipt in and be reimbursed. Next open enrollment I'll just put 50.00 or whatever aside, you just lose the before tax benefit by payroll deduction.

Thank you for the question and you will see see below why it took so long to answer. Please know that both companies health insurance offering and extras serve/served me well and whom ever you decide on will provide exceptional coverage in my personal experience. I'll make a video with this information too. OD/Estes So for me personally: Keep in mind this is subject to change as each company is in control of their perspective plans and offerings and your personal/medical needs. Each company has different levels of Health Coverage, but I can only tell you what I had/have. You may be able to obtain more information from other channels such as FreightHauler87 Old Dominion: United Health Care PP0 Myself + Spouse $67.50 Dental - Delta Insurance $7.75 Vision - VSP $2.19 FSA What Ever You elect changes your cost, mine was $50.00 per week which = 2,400 per year and it's just dependent on how much you feel you want to have available for the year ahead, you only know what you want/need. 401K - Day 1 enrollment @ full time: Empower Retirement (OD has a great match and their is a yearly percentage given according to OD's earnings, profit sharing) I used the max of 6% so I would get OD's max match, this also helps with how much you receive in profit sharing. My Total Weekly deduction for Benefits at OD was: $127.59 + FSA $50.00 = $177.59 Estes Current as of 7/1/21: Cigna Health Care PPO: Myself + Spouse $44.97 Dental - Delta Dental PPO plus Premier: $8.65 Vision - Davis Vision: $1.91 Voluntary Coverage: Vol Short Term $ 4.71 Vol Long Term $ 2.41 Vol Life $ 3.46 FSA: $50.00 My Total Weekly Deduction at Estes is = $66.11 + FSA =116.11 I learned a valuable lesson last year. I dropped short term disability because I never used it, and I suffered an injury while off work and had no coverage, so I would suggest some sort of accident insurance, it is cheap and helps ensure you don't have to use vacation if you have to go on FMLA. Estes is a Self Insured company and normally, what I have been used to with an FSA is: You elect how much you want for FSA, let's say $2,400, this would equal $50.00 a week @ $200.00 per month equal to $2,400 and a debit card with the $2,400 is available immediately. Estes does not have a FSA card so you pay $50.00 a week and when you have a medical expense or co-pays, you pay for it then submit a reimbursement form and get a check --- I did not realize this and will just forego FSA at open enrollment and open a savings account on my own for medical, but this means I will pay more tax, because medical like FSA deductions are "pre tax" but I think it is more of a pain to have to cough up 2x's and wait for a check and or someone to decide if it's approved. Even with an FSA card you can be required to send in additional documents to be reimbursed. Estes does has other options such as HSA where you do get a debit card for medical. 401k: 90 Day waiting period from full time hire date. Estes is moving its plan to Fidelity in October of 2021 so at this posting you would be in the fidelity plan, since it's within 90 days of the change. Estes has an employer match but I have not signed up for 401k yet, I want to wait until 2022 to start and will roll out my OD to an IRA. Estes does not have profit sharing and Estes is a private LTL, not a publicly traded company and Estes has "0" debt. This is a lot to digest and I really hope I answered right questions.

It's different for each individual. All of us have Hazmat requirements and more than likely different back round check companies and on boarding processes. My location is on a hiring spree so everything was moving very quickly.
