I work part-time in a McDonald’s to earn some money (I’m in high-school). I’m a pretty small girl and look about 13. I was working night-shift in the drive thou and this customer orders a 6-piece nugget and small fries. As this dude rolls round to the window, the windows shut and we’re preparing the food as we were pretty quiet we were in no particular rush. I open the window and reach out for his money (we have to take the money before giving the food) and he does this three-year-old thing of ‘you give me the food and I’ll give you the money. I stay calm and say, that it’s our rules that we take the money before giving the food so they can’t just take it. He says something along the lines of ‘but I had to wait 1 minute for you to do my food so I get to have the food for free’ I get mad and says the exact same ‘I can’t give you the food’ thing but louder. He then asks to see the manager and I simply explain that I am the manager for the night-shift and the manager of that McDonald’s wasn’t there at that moment and had left me in charge. I was wearing my name badge because I hadn’t bothered to leave it in my school-bag after my afternoon shift. He grabs it and pulls it off my shirt. (Keep in mind that it has a sharp clip at the back to attach it to my shirt).he looks at my name and is just like ‘it doesn’t say manager on here’ he then proceeds to try to pin it back on to my shirt and stabs me in the boob with the needle thing on the back. I get really angry and my co-workers look around at this point and see what’s going on. They call the cops while this guy is just looking at the blood on my shirt with this torn expression on his face. He seemed genuinely sorry about it, but the police weren’t hearing it. Let’s just say he didn’t get his food

Not me, but I was once behind in line to a rude customer who was being served at the counter at McDonalds. She complained why it takes so long to punch her order in-which is totally her fault as she kept changing her order to a more cheaper price and screamed at the cashier for being so slow and kept reminding her that it's a fast food chain. She also threatened that she had enough money to sue her. But then, this guy on a different counter to rude woman's right said loudly, "If you're rich, then why the hell are you in McDonalds? And why do you keep changing your order to a cheaper price?" The person on the other counter to her left was a bald, buff guy saying, "OOH, B*TCH YOU GOT OWNED!" The rude woman was clearly embarassed and walked out. And I've never laughed harder in public.

I work at Wendy’s, at the time I had just became a manager in 2017 at 20 years old. A customer ordered something and I went to check if we had it, it took me a minute because I went to start preparing what he asked for then I came back up. He called me a “fucking weirdo” which I in turn said “fuck you” then he pulled out his phone and started recording me said he’s gonna get me fired then he called me a “nigger” (this was the first and as of now only time in my entire life that someone called me that word) I opened the door to come around and fuck him up, he ran out the door and every customer in the dining room were on my side one went to write down his plate number and the thing that got me through the rest of the day was being a young black male being called that by an older white male and every customer of all colors and backgrounds backing me up with one even writing down his name and phone number saying call me as a witness if anything comes out of this. To this day any time he comes in I always give him 50% off.

Stories like these make me remember why I never want to work retail/customer service again. I don't understand why some people feel entitled to treat cashiers and fast food workers like they are nothing. Retail/fast food jobs are some of the most difficult jobs out there. And if you dare stand up for yourself or defend yourself from one of these rude people, you may get reprimanded or fired. There were many times in my mall job back in the day where I was insulted and made to feel stupid by entitled customers, and my manager had it out for me so she enjoyed me being humiliated. Horrible. How hard is it to act like a polite human being? Geez.

Also, working in food service for years in my teens, WE MAKE YOUR FOOD. dont be rude to us. I would never spit or do anything like that to someones meal, but I have definitely skimped on meat and over seasoned the SHIT out of horrid customers. Same with nice customers, I would hook them up. The worst thing that happened to me was i had a HUGE beef calzone thrown at me, it hit me in the chest. Why? It usually comes with the juice the beef cooks in but she had requested ranch. I was literally walking up to her with the ranch in hand aa she opens the box, throws it at me as I'm HOLDING HER RANCH.

I work at McDonald's. We close at 11 most days, and I regrettably work many of those closing shifts. Someone called at around 11:07. Now, obviously we're closed by noe, but we still had a little bit of food left, so if the order was reasonable and they weren't too far out, we'd serve them. Nope. This guy asks for 15 fucking McChickens and four medium fries. We don't even have that much on standby right before a massive rush. Our fryers were already off for the night, so we tell him that's a no-go. He then goes on a massive rant, screaming at us about how we're just being "fucking lazy" and how he was gonna give a bad review or something. Bitch it's not laziness. If you just closed and were locking down and preparing to leave, and someone then calls, asks you to turn all your cooking equipment back on, which requires like a 20 minute warm up period, then make an assload of food, then RESTART THE WHOLE CLOSING PROCESS, you'd tell them no too. Maybe don't try to curb your weed munchies AFTER the store closes.

Why do people thinking closing times are a suggestion??? When I used to work retail at a craft store we would constantly have people come in within the last five minutes and start browsing fabric n' shit. I once had a woman come to checkout two minutes before we closed with her kart filled to the top with all sorts of crap. It took me like ten minutes just to check her out and my manager had to stop cleaning to help with the other customers stuck behind her. Then partway through her transaction I think she was trying to make things run faster by saying she didn't need this or that which incidentally made things way worse because I had to go put everything away after that. Seriously, just get the fuck out. Stop deciding on a whim that you want to go shopping at 9 at night. Just wait until tomorrow for heaven's sake.

Had a customer call in for a warranty service on her mattress, saying she just got it and already had it replaced once (3 years prior, not recently like she stated). Our tech saw that she had a queen size bed frame purchased somewhere else, and did not have a center support, only 2 slats, for a queen mattress and boxspring. It was noted that the mattress was fine, but the box spring bowed, but that if she had sufficient support, and afterward if the box spring still bowed, we would replace it, but the mattress was perfect. She lost it. I offered to even supply supports from our store for free. Eventually she got the required supports, our tech went back out, and the problem was solved. No need to replace anything because she fixed it. She. Fucking. Lost. It. She assaulted our tech, then kicked him out of her home, keeping his customer log. She called the main customer service line proudly stating she had the log, refused to return it, and said she would call all customers on the log. Well, she called, stating she had their credit card info (she didn't). So while smoothing that over our regional manager is there and tells me to tell her that we will pick up the mattress and issue a refund. I emailed her, left a voicemail. She calls back. She acts normal. Then when I inform her that I cannot issue a refund until we pick up the mattresses but I will issue it same day she loses it again. This cunt could not understand that I would not refund her money until we picked up the merchandise. She scream " how can I trust you to refund it!" I give my word and ask "ma'am, you kept our service log, called and lied to customers, how can I trust that if I refund this now that you won't just deny access to our delivery team". People in the customer service industry (especially fast food) are treated like absolute garbage. Customers come in and insist that they are God’s special gift to Earth, and that you better do what they say because they are above you as human beings. I can’t stand that shit. Hearing these stories trigger me so much, especially when nothing is done about it.. and the “customer” gets what they want just like they said they would.

I once worked for multipurpose events agency where we are hired out to different venues and places to help the workers there. Well one day, I was working at a football stadium at a bar, pulling pints and serving pies. Halfway through the shift, things got super stressful. The whole room was crowded, people were rattling the metal doors and banging on them as the team scored and it was super loud. I had around 10 people try to get my attention all at once while I was serving someone. In the moment, it was the first time I was rude to a customer as I smiled and gave the most patronising look to one of the women shouting and said in the most sarcastic, cute way: "Aww I'm really sorry that I only have 2 hands, you wanna come behind here and stand for 12 hours with no breaks as you serve many dicks for many games?". The woman became livid and a few moments later, her son was next in line to be served. He was in his 20s and he approached me saying " You being disrespectful to my mum you prick?!". I could see he was trying to intimidating but honestly, I really didn't give a shit, my focus was on getting through all the customers and shutting down so I could go home. I calmly explained to him in the same patronising way. "No, I was just simply showing her that if you treat someone like shit, it's best to expect a little shit back. I am actually a human, not a robot". This motherfucker then reach over the counter and thrown his drink all over me and in my face. I couldn't see for a full 10 seconds and no-one batted an eye. Not even the supervisor and every customer still expected me to be serving them immediately after. That was the first time I ever walked out of a shift halfway through. I may be ok working less than ideal jobs for minimum wage, but I won't be paid to be treated like shit.

I used to work at McDonald's too. The worst I had was a customer in drive thru ask how much for an extra big Mac. It was late night and my brain had given up for the day so I put it on the register. Then he changed something. So I said I had to get the manager because too many changes had been made. He proceeded to scream at me about how I was a horrible liar and trying to rip him off blah blah. He wouldn't calm down and had 16yo me in tears. My manager could hear this over the headset and came out to see what was going on. She told him off for making me cry. Glad she had my back. It took me a while to regain my composure though. I still hate people lol.

If there is a news story about fast food or retail employees murdering a rude customer, I don’t care what the context is, I’m bailing them out. Seriously, the amount of drama that can go on these places is worthy of a hidden camera show or something. Maybe it would make people think twice if they saw their face on such a show getting scathed by people for their awful behavior . . . then again, that just might encourage it. Had a similar story to the last one Worked at Wendy's and was about 5-10 minutes from closing the lobby. A truck pulls in and this guy gets out and sorta just stares at me sweeping for a bit before walking and asking if we were open. I explain the lobby was about to close but the drive thru would be open for another hour. He says alright but asks if he can just make an order to go since he's already here. I think no problem So he waves for his kid to get out of the car and they make their order. I bag up their food and as I'm handing it to them he says "oh, we changed our mind we're eating here". I'm taken aback at this as he seemed pretty reasonable when I explained, I asked my manager what to do and they said there wasn't anything we could do and just leave them be I clean up and close all the booths and tables except theirs. They're eating completely alone in a dimly lit lobby as we turned off the lights around them 45 minutes later they finally finish, leave, and I clean their table and clock out. Honestly f*ck that guy

When I worked at a Dairy Queen by the interstate. I had a lady from another state order a treat, she screamed that it wasn't big enough. The owner was there, and said my employee made it as we're supposed to make it, if you want extra, we'll have to charge you. She then threw it at me. Well it happened to be lunch for a police officer, and he was there. She was arrested for assault. She spent the weekend in the county jail, it happened to be memorial day weekend. She couldn't see a judge until Tuesday. She was arrested on a Friday. 😁 I once had a lady throw hot French fries at me because there was a regular fry in her curly fries...🙄 I started running after her, she was escorted out by my father (who came to eat on break) She was permanently banned. He had a guy bumrush the door as this tiny girl on his staff was about to lock it, throwing her to the floor, and forcing himself in. Then he was confused as to why they refused to serve him. Then belligerent. At one point he actually said "Come on, the B____ is faking it". That's when they said the cops are their next course of action if he didn't leave. Worked as a cashier at Canadian tire, we are taught how to work the cash registers, and help deliver propane to your vehicles. Nothing else so it's annoying when they expect cashier's to know the building in and out. I didn't even know where the emergency exits were located. Anyways, this women gets so angry when she receives tax on her item. She claims it was on sale and starts causing a big scene. The cashier beside me turns and asks what the issue was. She yells at him saying "This girl is charging ME three dollars extra in taxes!". She starts to rant and say how dare she and etc. The people in line behind her were getting upset with the women. One man even said in my defense "look, ma'am, she's just trying to do her job." I was in tears but fighting them back, I always try to be positive and helpful to all customers, so it's hard when they get angry over these tiny little things. I kept apologising; I told her I can get someone to check the price and she threw the product back at me and cursed and left. The same person who stood up for me shook his head and said "hey, you are doing a great job, I'm sorry you had to deal with that, nobody should. You guys are all just trying to make a little money, that's all. People like her make me sick" After he left other people in line were being optimistic to me and trying to cheer me up after the incident. That's when I learned there will always be those types of customers who just are plain negative.

They caused quite a bit of trouble and disrupted the customers ( swearing loud, breathing on the windows and drawing phallic Objects, doing wheelies in the car park and though the drive through throwing food, occasionally riding bikes into the store(these where those doors that alternate with a glass panel)and just being rude to staff. They always came on the same day of the week. Their final time they road in on their bikes doing wheelies in front of traffic and into the car park nearly hitting a car exiting the drive through. They parked their bikes up and went into the franchise, during this a white shirted member of staff came out and stood to the left of the tills.as they came to order the man stood in front of them and lectured them on their behaviour and told them that they all where banned (he turned out to be the owner) and if they do not leave within the next 5 minutes the police would be called to forcibly escort them off the property, and not to return for 5 years, on their way out the preset the fire alarm. Luckily the owner was still by the till next to the emergency box on the wall and silenced the alarm. Then over the tannoy came tho voice of the Emergency operator asking if everything is alright. The owner explained to the heavens that it was a false alarm and some discruntled customers hit it on the way out.

I work at McDonald's, a customer threw a burger at my coworker and he caught it and threw it back. I'm really glad he didn't get in trouble cause he always stands up for the rest of us who work there and if a customer is acting aggressive towards us he always makes sure we don't have to interact with them again. Our area has a lot of drug addicts so we get a lot of people who react very aggressively to every little thing

I used to work at applebees in north Carolina. It was a slow night and a party of 5 was seated in my section. I went over to ask what they would like to drink. Turned out to be a NASCAR driver. Not uncommon but I was pretty hyped being I was a fan of his and he chose to take his parents and 2 young sons there as a gesture of thank you for their help in his recovering from a brain injury in a crash that season. Anyways, we get to the order, his father ordered a steak with all the toppings including onions. I brought them all their food and all seemed happy except for the racers father. When I asked him what was wrong he insisted he ordered no onions. I assured him he did and he got more and more upset. The driver and his family tried calming him down but he only got more angry to the point he attempted to assault me. We unfortunately had to group together everyone on staff to physically throw him out into the street. The son/driver ran out after him. It was really sad

I work at McDonald's, mostly graveyard shifts, and while we were completely backed up and understaffed. A guy ordered $120 dollars worth of food, it was a lot, but actually common for orders to go over 80 during graveyard shifts. In general we're used to large orders with not a lot of hands to make them, but he had he audacity to yell at us for taking so long. We have a full drive thru, have to cook over 200 nuggets, 14+ burgers, 20+ drinks, (we do uber eats too) and they're upset we took long than 5 actual minutes and were deafening us with his yelling until we finished his order and he left. These kind of people make me wanna quit my job, its infuriating.

She drove off saying "I'm driving a sports car!" I work at an Audi dealership. Before working here, my thoughts of Audi drivers were that they were rich assholes. In actuality, most of the customers I've had encounters with were actually really nice people! Albeit my exposure to customers is fairly limited because of my specific job. I don't generally work with customers so much as work on the premises helping the sales staff and management, but I ran into this lady didn't really know how to drive an Audi since the setup inside newer Audi's is really un-intuitive and overly complicated. Since I'm in and out of various styles of Audi every day, I took the time to walk her through how everything worked, the infotainment system, the gear selector, the climate controls, etc.. Apparently she owned a large SUV before she bought her new Audi, and was excited about having a "sports car". It was just a regular A5. Not a _slow_ car by any stretch, but calling it a sports car is like calling a VW Arteon, a Toyota Camry, a Honda Accord or a Ford Taurus a "sports car". I suppose if you were coming from a large SUV like a Chevy Suburban to a more nimble sedan like a Subaru Legacy, even if the sedan isn't terribly fast on it's own, I could still see where the excitement may come from. I let her enjoy her new "sports car" and she takes off out of the service bay where her car was parked after it was finished being detailed. As she drove off though, she literally curbed the wheel on the first turn. She wasn't even off dealership property yet. She could turn the car back in and it could still be considered a "brand new" vehicle since it hadn't touched a public road since it's purchase, that's how new it was. It took every fibre of my being not to laugh my ass off at her.

This video made me feel a lot better about my minimum wage job in retail. They only unnecessarily yell at me for following policy. One day it was super busy at the deli where I work, I closed the register as instructed by another worker with the highest seniority, cue 1st angry person who demands to be helped at the deli register, co worker helps him after he wouldn't budge to go to the open self checkout. Cue 2nd angry guy, I'm at the sandwich bar that's right next to the register finishing up with cleaning containers and filling up the veggies so I can cover everything to go home, I was already 40 minutes into overtime and didnt take my last break, when I tell the AC that he has to pay upfront because the register is closed he tells at me saying I helped another customer and that I have to open the register to help him and his 20 items, yelling about how the store has gotten so much worse in the past year and how it's so annoying how people are afraid to do their job. I snapped at him telling him everything I stated prior. Told him straight up that I'm not a cashier, in overtime without my last break and had about 5 other things to get done still. Fuck him.

Not me but my co worker. I work at a beauty supply store and a young girl with her grandmother walked in. The girl needed help with hair color so she asked my co worker and her grandmother said “why would you ask a black girl for help?” My co worker didn’t say anything but apparently she left the store for a bit and was crying. The girl looked mortified.

I currently work at a decently known fast food restraunt that has many bacon focused items and meals. I'm still really new to this place, but whenever I have an early shift, I am the one cooking the bacon for the first part of the day. A few weeks ago, I had just finished cooking all of my bacon so I was washing the trays. I was still very new, so I didn't know where I was going to be stationed and all the managers were busy getting ready for opening. One manager comes up to me and tells me that I will be on front register and that I have to hurry up and go count my till since someone was coming in. Okay great. I go up front and greet this older man, I inform him that I just have to quickly count the money in my register and that I would be with him in just a few minutes. He says that's fine, and so I quickly start counting my till. Halfway through, he calls my name and asks me how much longer it's going to be (keep in mind it hasn't even been a full minute yet since I told him I would start counting) I told him it would just be a little longer because I was only about halfway through. He says "I thought the customer always comes first?" I inform him that while yes the customer comes first, by our policy I cannot take any orders until my till is counted and I am logged on to the register. He says "so? I don't see how that should affect me. Besides I have to start heading back to work soon. You should have counted it earlier if it was that important." While he is right about that. I was busy cooking bacon, and I didn't even know I was going to be the front person until he had already walked in. I tell him that and he starts yelling at me saying "I don't care. That is your problem and you need to take my order right now." At this point, I just want to cry because I don't know what to do and one of my coworkers who is working drive thru overhears and comes over asking what's wrong. The older man says I am taking my sweet time doing nothing and that I refuse to take his order. I tell my coworker that my till was still not counted but this man wanted his order done now, so my coworker says that he will take the dude's order through drive thru. That way I can give him his food and keep working on my till. Okay fine. We get the dude's order and food and he starts walking out. My coworker reminds me that I did nothing wrong and he goes back to drive thru. I go back to counting my till while also trying not to cry. Meanwhile, the dude from earlier comes up behind me and puts his hand on my shoulder before saying "looks like you actually can do something right. Have a good day" and walks out. That jerk ruined what would have otherwise been a great work day.

I know this is pretty wrong, but I was waiting in the lobby at McDonald's (my job), just relaxing until I would do my workshift. An Asian Man and his child were asking for a specific toy in their happy meal. It's a small rural town so they (unfortunately) only have 1 or 2 kinds of toys at first. The man kept asking for specific toy, and the manager said they didn't have the one he wanted. The man was almost yelling, where half of the lobby was looking his way while his kid just stood there silently. It didn't help that his Asian accent was kicking in and he became even harder to understand and calm down. He eventually left, but sadly without the certain toy. Ironically, his kid had no problem with it. So he freaked out like a child over a toy, while his kid was unphased.

I work at a Taco Bell. This one elderly couple came in through the Drive thru and asked what came in the cheesy bean and rice burritos. I wanted so badly to sarcastically say, “Cheese, beans, and rice, idiot.” But I told them that and also what sauce it had. So they order 3 of them: 1 add lettuce, 1 without cheese, and 1 just how it comes. They also order 2 tacos and drinks. After that, I say, “Alright is your order correct on your screen?” They say no it’s all wrong let’s just start over. So they repeat it and it’s exactly the same. At this point I’m getting irritated and after another try and it again being the same they rudely say that they’ll just come up to the window. So they do so and again repeat and again it’s the same, but now they don’t want the tacos. So I take off the tacos and repeat their order back... they say it’s wrong. So I’m about to lose my mind so I ask my manager if he can help them because I was trying to deal with another car through the speaker. So he helps them and it’s the same but now all of a sudden it’s right. I’m like whatever I’m done with people. They get their food and leave. I thought it was over. But a few minutes later I’m dealing with another customer in their car when I hear a pounding on the window and it’s the woman yelling that she can’t eat cheese and this has cheese. Like she literally stood in front of the car that I was dealing with instead of coming inside! So I’m dealing with someone on my headset, a car, and this psycho woman. Most of the cooks only speak Spanish so they were having trouble explaining to her that each of them were labeled and one of them has no cheese like she asked. But she’s not having it so they make her another burrito. I’m literally having to deal with the car at the same time because she refused to move away from the window and she’s talking crap about how we’re the worst customer service and get this! She said she couldn’t eat cheese and yet was freaking eating it in the middle of the window, asking for sauce and being in the middle of the way for other customers. Rudest people I’ve ever dealt with. Oh, and then they came back because I didn’t give them a senior discount.

I once was the only cashier available during a work shift at a Dollar General, while it was the first of the month. The line is literally to the back of the store and the manager is in the office on a six hour conference call, which means I am unable to properly tend to each customer's needs. While helping a lady get a box, another customer says something as I walk by, but I didn't realize it was to me. Yeah, I should have pauaed, but I literally didn't get even a bathroom break that shift. 20 minutes later he's in my line telling me "if you can't do you job, maybe you should quit so they can hire someone who can." I'm in tears, in physical pain and had no idea what I had done, until I could think about it later.

Okay something that haunts me to this day is that one time I was shopping at Canadian tire with my mom and we thought they closed at 10 but it closed at 9. And there was no like over head speakers saying that the store closed in 15 minutes or any indication that they were closing (like most stores do over the speakers) and we didn’t know and didn’t realize until like 10:15 that it was supposed to be closed. Honestly I just felt bad because I hate staying at work longer and we are the kind of people that had we known the store was supposed to be closing we would have left immediately. Sorry to those employees man they probably hated us

I worked at McDonalds and a man screamed at me because i accidentally put a pickle on his burger that he wanted to feed his pug. He slammed it on the counter and demanded a refund. I was 16 or so and very shy so i started crying and he yelled at me for crying saying i should suck it up , and that the pickle could have killed his dog and im a terrible person. My manager got him a new burger and i started taking orders from the backed up line this guy had caused. The next costumer i served was this really nice guy who gave me a $20 tip for not being rude to "even the world's worst people". Made my day better.

I'm working at a pizza place, and have only been there about two months keep in mind.. I had a Karen the other day (the haircut n everything) she and her family of 7 (3 are young kids around 3-6) and not one of them are wearing masks. I inform them of our mask policy and she says she can just pull her shirt over her nose. There was more problems about the masks but nothing to bad. The kids however. The ran around EVERYWHERE, touching everything, licked a couple tables, screaming their head off enough that I couldn't hear phone orders. They also dumped any food that they didn't eat under their table. The other one was a woman who complained about the 40 min wait (it was a Saturday night, our busiest time) and came in 10 mins after their food was done and the time I had told them. She and her son were not wearing masks. Ignored me when I told them our mask policy and said maybe 3 words total. She was pissed that she had to wait for me to count out the 33cent change. Usually people will leave that kind of change as tip. Not her. Also had a guy who put on a mask that said "fuck you" when I told him he needed a mask
