For me, so long as the noise was daytime noise, it wouldn't bother me that much. I can deal with daytime noise. If it was late-night noise, that would keep me from staying there.

I lived at "The View Cosy Beach" condo for a year on a high floor facing the hill. From where I was I could hear it but it was not totally obtrusive. But people on the first soi next to the hill were bombarded by the noise. I mentioned it to a KZbinr who was about to move into a bargain priced unit there and he had visited twice without hearing the noise. Once I mentioned it he went back and no way was he going to move in. Many of the people lighting the bricks of firecrackers in those echo chambers are dressed in suits and very nice clothes. Someone told me they were sending off a dead relative but I had no idea until you provided insught Phil. That place and the nearby scenic view spot more above the Pattaya sign are the best places to see Pattaya that I've ever seen. Highly recommended for people to take a look. Hiking up the hill is a good workout as well. It's also the one area in all of Pattaya where in the evening there is a cool breeze on occasion.

Interesting video Phil and that is my favorite viewpoint by far (in the morning). I wondered about the firecrackers as it seemed and odd disturbance for such a serene atmosphere. I didn’t even consider how that noise would carry to the housings! I would still live there as I really like the location for reasons stated in your video

First few trips I thought it looked like it was on the downward slide but after exploring when Tara and I were there the last time we fell in love with the area. Was looking at the Sands maybe. Of course a Guinness at Le Pub is just down the other hill.

I worked and lived in China for a few tears. The firewors go off all the time. Working in one town and staying at the top hotel. Almost every night there would be a wedding reception in the ballroom. And evrytime there was a wedding reception there was a fireworks display outside the hotel. You are right, after awhile you just ignore them.

If the firecrackers are only going off during the day - which I assume is the case since that is when the tour groups would go there - it wouldn't be a problem. If this is happening at night, then it would be a problem.

Soi 5 : busses leaving their engines running for hours . Smoke,pollution,noise. In a few years the area will be no longer a calm place. The only safe area will be close to the royal property.

Pratumnak is not on a baht bus route, for any tourist I would not recommend. It has a couple of HiSo restaurants, but that's it. Pattaya or Jomtien. And Phil is telling a fib, it is a 10/15 minute walk along Dongtan Beach to Jomtien and the baht bus. And yes the walk up Pratumnak Soi 5 is seriously uphill, allow 15/20 minutes
@Spock10513 сағат бұрын
For tourists indeed , take a hotel very close to the baht bus route . Others like myself who stay a few months : rent an electric bicycle or motorbike if you want to dive into mayhem town. Personally , I think that in a few years the soi 5 area will be full of new buildings and no longer be a soi suitable for people who like it very calm.

I literally live next to the viewpoint and it can get disruptive if you keep the windows open and want to watch a movie but not a reason for me to move.
