This is one of those spell-gone-wrong episodes where the cast just has genuine fun with the circumstances. The reason why the Spike/Buffy thing works so well is that Spike's character and personality are very well defined at this point.

I always felt that since day 1, Buffy and Spike had this "thing" with each other but didn't know what "it" was exactly and I've noticed how very flirty they were with each other in the very beginning. They have great chemistry with their quick, witty banters. The way he stalked her in the beginning with a big ol' smile on his face, the constant back and forth bickering like school children do, and then now with him being annoyed by her and then her teasing him with her neck as he's tied up in the bathtub....it just felt like there was something there. And I think she likes it too lol. She was telling Willow that Riley seems like a nice catch but feels something is "missing" and Willow pointed it out that it's because Buffy isn't being miserable like she felt at times with Angel. Ever heard that song by Taylor Swift called "The Way I Loved You"? If you listen to the lyrics, I feel it's that spark in the relationship that Buffy misses. The passion of it all. And honestly, bullshit aside, Buffy and Spike understand each other. Especially when it comes to life and death and little things in a relationship. They have always been honest with each other since day 1 even if it's brutal feedback. Like that time when Buffy called Drusilla a ho? "I lost a friend tonight and I may lose more. The whole Earth may be sucked into hell and you want my help cuz your girlfriend's a big ho? Well let me take this opportunity to NOT care." Lol! LOVED IT! Yeah it's a huge surprise to see these two this way but I liked it lol. Let's throw a little spice into this relationship. Yeah he's a vampire with no soul BUT I've noticed that when it comes to matters of the heart, he actually does care. He was with Dru for MANY years and he had his own way of showing her how much he loved her and cared about her. He knew her, what she liked and didn't like and what made her happy and sad. He did care for her. And that was interesting for me to see a vampire acting this way. And now, in this episode, we see how he is with Buffy here. VERY interesting. I don't mind if they hooked up and had a thing with each other. But It would be totally and completely left field if they had actual feelings for each other, the kind that is the lovey-dovey kind. Cuz then THAT would be very interesting to see how that works with a vampire with no soul. If that's even possible.

The episode known as the fanfiction episode, which sparked Spuffy as a wish-fulfillment couple (no play on words) -- although official in terms of the in-universe spell -- in the fanbase. SoFie is proof that it still happens. As much as I find all the jokes and one-liners funny, I find Spike calling Buffy out on the song choice for the first dance the most amusing because of her reaction, the group's reaction, and the fact that it was so obviously true and not "just the spell."

The higher beings literally told angel that's his fate so therefore that is in fact his fate. Had his own prophesy scrolls and everything.

Although S4 wasn't great overall, it did contain some brilliant stand out episodes of which Something Blue was one. The comedy here is achingly funny, and this episode contains so much foreshadowing for later episodes, you can see in S4 Willow becoming more reliant of magic each time she has a crisis, and that the potential Spuffy relationship is shown but in a comedic way. Overall a great episode to look back on.

1) Yes, it's very hard to see Buffy in love with Riley after watching "I will remember you".... we will always remember Bangel...... luckily Riley is a good guy and after what he did to the asshole (Parker) he deserves a chance with Buffy, too bad there is the unknown of the Initiative, which could become the Main villain of the season, and at that point that will happen in between him and our heroine? 2) Why Spike is the only one who see Willow's pain? Well, he is over 100 years old and he has a lot more experience, he doesn't have other tought or distraction (Buffy has her mission, Riley, the College, the Iniative; Giles her new girlfriend, Buffy'life, the Initiative....) he is in the best position for understand Willow, also because he always has this amazing sensitivity for a vampire. 3) Willow has a problem, when she suffers she tends to become vindictive and self-centered, obviously you can feel bad for her but it must be said that the magic is having negative effects on her, the hope is that she learns not to be dominated by anger and pain, because she would also risk doing damage to people she loves (D'offryn is a well be-haved demon). 4) Spuffy LOL. Buffy and Spike are both amazing, her an perfect heroine and him an amazing villain /anti-villain, they are hilarious in their mutual hatred and now we discover how they are adorable (and cringe) as a couple! A perfect couple chemistry, perfect and absurd in the same time, 2 mortal enemies in love as in a fanfiction! The best moment is however in the end when Willow interrupts the spell and Buffy & Spike understand what happened LOL (Buffy was incredibly sweet when she asked Giles to accompany her to the altar ..... super sweet and cringe XD, but she really loves her ex-Observer like a father). I LOVE THIS EPISODE!

This is the episode that made Buffy tired of bad boys. At the beginning she was worried that she wouldn't be content with a good guy like Riley but after she and spike were forced together because of a spell, she was turned off bad boys because being with spike was hell for her. She even said, towards the end, that she was over the bad boy thing, that good guys appealed her now and she definitely meant it.

Yess the way I’ve been waiting for you to react to this episode since the beginning. Truly one of my fav episodes of the series, I can rewatch it over and over. This was also the beginning of my spuffy shipping! It’s like this episode makes you realize how well they go together. But honestly I’ve always felt like there was a undercurrent of sexual tension or something between them. “I’d rather be fighting you anyways” “Likewise” The chemistry between them is 🔥 (lol especially in comparison to her and Riley, which I’m sorry but he’s so boring to me)
