Okay, that's actually not that difficult to understand. English is categorized as a Germanic Language, in that a lot of the grammatical structures are similar going back to when "English" was "Anglo-Saxon". English is something of a hodge-podge of vocabulary imported from a DOZEN different languages at least so it's a freakin' mess, but there's enough similarity of sounds with German that someone who didn't grow up with either of them, or even a Romance language might not be able to tell the difference if they're just not paying full attention. Like, how often do native English speakers not hear the difference between Japanese, Chinese, or Korean?

The first student-teacher story. Good on the teacher to point out that directly communicating needs is more effective. And good on the student for seeking positive influences.

@@chiaracarlotta3884 Say you learn french, then you have at least 20% of the whole spanish language because they are from the same tree, just different ramifications. But english and spanish are not from the same tree so you cannot learn easier with one language learned. Pretty much like ability trees in games.

i was a teaching assistant in a second year history class (so, 12 and 13 year olds) in my senior year of high school. there was a kid who was a huge distraction to everyone else, always taking the piss. but every so often, he would put his hand up, and say “did you know..?” and he would be full of interesting and insightful facts about the topics we studied. it made me kind of sad, because in most of his other classes, teachers quit trying to engage him in the lessons, and to my knowledge this history teacher was the only one that hadn’t written him off as a slacker that it was better to ignore. she encouraged him to learn and take part. by the end of the year history was his favourite class and to my knowledge she was the only teacher that he respected.

I was the disruptive student in all my classes, in english we were reading, lord of the flies, and i asked my teacher was piggy gay ? I asked cause the narrative is from his perspective in the beginning and he kept noticing and remarking on the other naked boys. She got mad at me cause how dare i boil it down like that. A week after my teacher remarked how another English teacher had a student ask the same thing and how she could c my point of view now

First one reminds me of a student I had for a year. He didn't have a father at home (someone told me). Often he'd talk to me about whatever and surprisingly enough, we knew the same things to some extent so we had stuff to talk about. Sometimes he'd start talking about something and I knew exactly which youtube video he got that from for example. I hope he's alright.

I used to get detention on purpose all the time in primary school. No one ever asked me why I never did my homework in the colder months except on Thursdays. I am from Canada and hated the cold. had a good enough winter jacket, just hated the cold and the teachers always made us go outside at lunch. I tried eating slower but some teacher would rush me out. Tried hiding in the bathrooms or tucking behind lockers but someone always found me. Finally figured out if I just got detention I got to stay inside during usual lunch and then have lunch when I'd normally be ushered out. Why Thursdays? Friday was poutine day. If you got detention, there would be none left by the time you got out. So night before my homeworkd was never 'accidentally' left at school. I honestly think they all thought I was dumb as a brick to keep doing it by 'accident' because no one ever seemed to catch on.

My wife has a LOT of single mother frienda, and its INSANE to see how much they cling to me whenever they visit, they are absolutely STARVED of any sort of fatherly figure, and they just eat up any and all male attention they get. Its so depressing to watch. Especially since most of the boys are age 8-10 now and is really acting out at school, and none of the mothers or teachers kbow why... and to me its just so insanely obvious. Those kids are SCREAMING for some boundaries and someone who can teach them how to be a man. They just grow up trying to be boys and men, but only know how to be a woman.
