Make sure to include monarchy, initiative, attractions, the day/night cycle, older versions of werewolves. Stax pieces and land destruction are optional. At this rate, it sounds a bit like judge's tower.

I REALLY hope that we get more dungeons at some point. They don’t even need to be D&D themed. I think that commander is probably the most likely place to get them from but seeing dungeons again in a standard set would be super sweet.

There's going to be an event in May. If your LGS is doing it. There will be a new dungeon. Though the dungeon is just for the event. So if you want to keep playing with the specific dungeon, you'll have to ask your play group.

I love venture and always thought it would be cool to have dungeons that could only be entered by certain cards, like initiative only doing one but more limited. Could be more focused dungeons tied to a specific legend and their theme, or more powerful dungeons harder to enter, etc

@violetlazuli3998 I would think either could make a commander deck that could go into the specific dungeon or a couple cards, like an enchantment, that gives you the choice of the new dungeon when venturing into a dungeon.

So if I play a game against my friends and I am the only one with Bounty cards (only three because I only own Grand Larceny). Does that mean I cannot use my bounty cards?

I still have some questions on this mechanically that weren't covered in the comprehensive rules update for OTJ (nothing mentioned at all about bounties) or in the initial mechanics article (and not in this video either) are these legal in eternal formats? how to resolve different stacks of bounties (player a brings a different 6 than player b, neither wants to just make a stack of everything) is this an "opt in" mechanic such as planechase, or is it something anyone can bring to the table without other players being able to say anything about it like stickers?

Totally opt-in, not tournament legal anywhere. Just like Planechase.

I really like them. I do think they need tweaking. Personally, I would like to see different rewards on the backs. It is like a fixed/funner version of monarch. This has knobs and a lot of potential. I do agree with not having too powerful rewards. Planechase can be fun, but it sometimes takes too much Agency from the players. Thanks Gavin.

I'm always interested in new ways to play commander. I like the bounty variant, and if more of them are made in the future, I can put more into the deck of bounties and create more variance in play. Also, it's fun to combine variant game modes. Now we can do a planes chase blind eternities, bounty, archenemy, dog house treasure pile, clue game.

Do you know why the Comprehensive Rules don't cover bounties? It feels like a strange thing to leave out, particularly considering other similar casual modes (like Planechase or Vanguard) are fully covered there.

This is what i was also thinking, they should do this mechanic for Final Fantasy universe beyond as quest and completing it would have multiple extra cool function like get to planewalk with planechase would be a great additional function that expand another collaboration maybe monster Hunter for magic 😊

Thoughts from the last video still stand. If your gonna include a new or extra mechanic for commander in a precon. You should include the bare minimum PER deck in order for players to be able to use your new mechanic. Requiring 6 Bounties and only giving each precon 3 is scummy practice. Hoping players will shill out for a 2nd deck or try to talk people into spending there money to acquire all 12 just to use your new labor is love. What will more then likely is said players no longer caring and throw them away, cues its not worth the extra money or effort. Same with Planescase and any other new inclusion you guys come up with. Precons are already more expensive then they ever were, I dont think including 3 extra pieces of cardboard is gonna bankrupt Daddy Hasbro. Also Don't cut the amount of tokens per deck just to add more of these extra inclusions.

These seem really neat but definitely unfortunate the decks only have 3 each but require 6. With so many commander releases every year now theres just less people locally buying each set so less chance of getting enough. Its such a shame planechase is tied to those oversized cards as cool as they are i really wish it was easier to just include one or two every now and then at card size

I didn't like that they replaced 3 of each double sided tokens, it already feels like we get too few with how many tokens commander decks make Also, you need at least 6 bounty cards but buying a OTJ precon you only get 3? So if i'm the only one at the table with the new precon then it can't even really be introduced

My biggest problem with the bounties is that instead of ten tokens and three bounties, the precons now come with 7 tokens and 3 bounties. No minigame is worth losing important tokens to me and it’s already a big enough pain to have the right tokens for decks

As someone that is hard to impress with new mechanics, the bounty system is great, just for a start, using them is a table choice, not just one player that wants to break rad counters with proliferate or some such, additionally the entire board sees the bounty and a little competition across the board can happen of whos taking that bounty and what they will do with it vs once again that guy bringing the energy counter deck most the table would rather not play against. The less reasons a new thing has to be rule zeroed out of a play group the longer it will stay relevant, tempting me with possible gains i could acquire in my game is motivating me to allow some bounty hunting to go on instead of allowing a new thing that is probably only going to help one person. PS give desert decks more love.. pretty please

This bounty minigame feels like WotC trying to change the structure of a fan created format (Commander). Thankfully it is an off by default optional variant, but Gavin Verhey wanting to add Bounty to Commander is different from my playgroup choosing to add Planechase to some of our Commander games. Please Gavin, be careful. Err on the side of caution rather than on the side of meddling with the structure of our format.

As much fun as it would be to have oversized versions of the cards, from the practical standpoint of packaging, storing (once they are opened) and safely transporting back forth from your friend's house, I can appreciate why they kept them card-sized. Planechase card while nice to look at are a pain to store and transport.

@@B__C__ Yes, larger cards come with a cost, but let's remember that this mechanic is a multiplayer mechanic; you want them in the middle of the table and large enough for people to actually see. Note: I haven't had an opportunity to play with these cards; I like the idea but I am a bit worried that the execution falls flat. (For example, I don't understand the flavor. If these are bounties, shouldn't I get credit for destroying and/or playing the bounty creature? But given MTG naming conventions, that's going to get confusing fast) Contrast this with, say, a "Big Score" deck, a sideboard of N cards from "the vault" which players could draft from once they've cooperated to open "the vault" (whatever that means mechanically, and starting with the person who satisfies the final criteria).

WotC and Hasbro make money from selling products, so put GOOD CARDS in SETS and in COMMANDER DECKS, so they’ll sell. Do not let the secondary market hold you back from putting good reprint cards in sets and commanders decks. Putting multiple rare cards in all booster packs does help sell the packs also. If players feel that they’re getting a good deal, then they’ll buy and WotC and Hasbro make money. The recent commander decks are bad deals in players’ eyes and given inflation, everyone is now frugal with their money.

Just an optional addition to the game. Besides you need at least 6 of them and you only get 3 in a single precon because Hasbro is cheap with their cardboard.
