A US territory 3 hours from Japan, Korea, Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam and China. The Mariana Island of Saipan is 150 miles to the North. Strategic gold mine is an understatement IMO.

If it wasn’t America, it would be China or Japan or the Philippines running the show in Guam. It’s too strategic for military powers to ignore. They got the best possible master if you like to see it in those terms

@johnfaris5376....So true and most likely Guam would be part of Japan today if the U.S didn't liberate the island during World War 2. When I lived in Guam,I didn't know anyone that had any issues with the U.S Military Presence there,and many of the older folks were very grateful for the U.S to liberate the island from Japan,because many had a lot of horror stories being under Japanese Occupation.
