This is somehow both the last and best kind of video I could have expected from you. I love this concept! Great work, Stanky!

Strange and random but enjoyed it quite a lot. Before I didn't even think about this question before, the surgeon sleeve makes the most sense to me personally, something is broken/fix injury but you don't wanna get your suit dirty then (besides taking the jacket off) you roll your sleeves up. Side note: It feels like it would take a while to roll them up if you gotta take care of something like an emergency to get your hands dirty, but I dunno. I enjoyed the editing, but it also felt like who ever did, likely has ADD, felt all over the place in almost every other sentence.

Remember fellas, all this started because he saw buttons on sleeve in a video game. Yes.

Id imagine that the reason that there are buttons on early military uniforms but not fancy jackets is because the buttons were made to allow a soldier to roll up his sleeves to keep his uniform clean, and the upper class didn't need to do that because they wouldn't have been doing any messy work (rolled up sleeves also would have looked a bit worse and looks are/were important). So yeah the doctor sleeves were probably the realization that they can wear their fancy jacket and roll up the sleeves so they don't get them dirty. This was also a great video and I look forward to seeing more of them.

This is amazing! We started this journey because you were annoyed that the articles had no credible sources, and the answer we got was your opinion with nothing to back it up. Now I'm going to be up all night figuring this out!

GREAT VIDEO. My dumbass always assumed those buttons were spares for the actual jacket buttons lmao.
@jasonbonefas42012 жыл бұрын
I once asked a suit maker this question and his answer was that it used to be rude/indecent to remove your jacket as such it became necessary to roll up your jacket sleeves sometimes and that is the purpose of the buttons

This seems like something lindybeige would do an hour long video on. Also good work, very relateable experience with ADHD. Edit: I would also recommend taking a look at the American M41 field jacket for an example of modern utilitarianism. It resembles a lot of early suits. It also explains why some suits have a buttonhole in the folded flap on the front of the jacket.

Y'know, this isn't what I was expecting when you said you had something in the works. I can't really say I'm surprised this is something you would do. But damn if it isn't entertaining because this has some sort of energy that just works.

my takeaway: photo crackly particles are spirits of the dead got it real talk tho this is exactly how my brain just works sometimes with topics, going on rabbit hole wiki page while jamming to P4 music so this was a very relatable and easy to follow brainworm. now i'm gonna always think about goddamn buttons, thanks????
@Xurnalea3 жыл бұрын
my first thought before even watching this was just "so you can roll it up" bc if you work with your hands at ALL you want the option to roll your sleeves up. at certain angles it can squeeze your wrist/damage the fabric so i just assumed it was something that just was. functional like on dress shirts but that being said why the Fuck would there be four now im upset about this.
