I remember Schalke making the Champions league semi finals in 2011 against Manchester United. Schalke winning the German cup that same year with players like Neuer, Raul, Rakitić and Holtby. Bringing up new players like Draxler, Sane, Goretzka, Meyer and Özil any many more. Since 2016 onwards, Schalke are poorly ran and signing poor players like Bentaleb, Konoplyanka and Uth. With the corona virus pandemic, they are in big trouble financially and on the pitch with diabolical performance. Can't score for shit and unable to defend is borderline relegation form. Lack of club identity and poor decisions can turn any great club to shit. Look at Hamburg, Manchester United and Barcelona. It's like Valencia in Germany but far worse and the fans don't need this nightmare situation. I hope Schalke make the right decision to get back were they used to be. For now, it's bleak.

Schalke Fan here. Thank you for this video and the work you put in! The last few months have been really dreadful. When it comes to what's happening on the pitch, I have hope that there will be a bit of a turnaround quite soon, because the matches are looking better and better under Baum. Today against Mainz was the best performance so far. Bit of shame that VAR wasn't really on our side or otherwise this could have been the first win. The financial situation however is absolutely terrible and there isn't really much trust for the people at work. Meaning: even if we outsorced and got some money, how to be sure that its not been thrown out of the window again? There is also no real communication about this topic coming from the club, with no fans in the stands many of us have the feeling, that there are plans being made behind closed doors and that our opinion on this isn't wanted until it comes to polling. Which is bad, because there are different ways to go about outsourcing and the one solution that would be completely new in german football - founding a cooperative - would help financially while still keeping members voices heard and important. But I'm not sure if that's what the club is going for at the moment. Alexander Jobst keeps teasing that they are working on a concept for months now - without delivering so much as the outline of said concept. So I guess things will stay "exciting" for a while.... Cheers, Annika
@paulie-g4 жыл бұрын
How would a cooperative work? I mean, if there is 200m+ of debt, the money to a) service that debt and b) to invest in players has to come from somewhere. Domestic TV rights, at their highest point, gave Schalke about 80m euro per season. This is going to be lower now given bad performance in the league. Nowhere near enough. Are the club members going to be willing *and* able to stump up the money needed to invest in the club to buy some players and pay their wages, for example?
@Musive994 жыл бұрын
@@paulie-g In a cooperative you can still bring money in. I'll try to explain. So let's say you set the minimum amount at something like 500€. The members as they are right now youf do that. They don't even have to pay everything upfront, they can pay over time. That way it becomes affordable. People who can/want to give more can totally do that. But nevertheless, everybody gets only one "share" or voice. As it is now. So you could have something like "premium members" who give more, like a company. But they still wouldn't ever take over, because they only have one share. There was a German fanpodcast recently with an expert on the matter who explained it way better than me. If you understand the language you can find it here: blauer.salon/49/
@paulie-g4 жыл бұрын
@@Musive99 I'll give it a listen. Even the Bavarian guy is speaking Hochdeutsch, so that's nice (in my experience, they speak Bayrisch to foreigners just to f-ck with us). Thing is, Schalke needs what, 200 million euro at least to cover the debt? That would need 400k people @ 500 euro. Schalke is big, no doubt, but Gelsenkirchen is what, ~250k people? Some are going to be Bayern fans, surely. Yes, there are more fans than live in the city, but you're also asking people to part with 500 euro in the middle of a pandemic. As a Liverpool supporter, I'm more partial to Dortmund because of the Klopp connection, but I sincerely hope things work out well for your historic club and by extension the excellent German 50+1 system. Incidentally, I'm Russian and the last thing Gazprom needs is to be associated with a catastrof-ck when your gov't is trying to dig a big hole to burn the 10 billion $ of Russian taxpayers' money spent on Nordstream in ;) Btw, even if the money is raised, is there any confidence that the club hierarchy can run the club properly? They haven't up til now. The fans might be willing to put money in, but surely not until they can be sure it won't be mismanaged, no?

I have waited so long for a Rabona video on Schalke. I have been a lifelong fan and really enjoyed the take on. To be honest, I still don't understand how a team can fall apart that quick after such a dominating victory against Gladbach in january. We kicked them out of the stadium besides ONLY winning 2:0. There are too many small and big problems like mismanagement, wrong tactics, losing great talents for free (Matip, Kolasinac, Goretzka, Nübel), poor transfers (only 30mil for the best keeper at the time Neuer? Or 47 for Sané? as well as burning money on poor choices such as Rudy 20mil, Embolo 25 etc.) BUT STILL, how do you forget to play football in a span of 10 days between Gladbach and the Bayern game in fixture 19? There have been slight improvements with Baum but at this rate... I fear it will be the last season in the 1. Bundesliga for us. And after relegating in League 2? Well, a comeback could be hard and risky. I'm really afraid as a supporter.

Well Bayern "helped" Dortmund with just 2 Million € in 2004 or 2005 and they wanted that money back + interest. The new boss (Watzke) had to deal with that deal what his precedessor made right after he started to work for BVB and paid Bayern everything back (Dortmund was still in dept). So technically Bayern didn't helped Dortmund out in their situation. Schalke getting helped by the federal state now (+30 mil. €) same as Dortmund in 2005.

@@Exodon2020 Completely wrong. Dortmund was 200 million (!) in dept. Bayern gave them 2 million (that's 1%) The federal state (NRW) gave them +40 Million (that's 20%, but of course dortmund had to pay it back over the years) Florian Homm (investment banker and billionaire) bought around 25% or even more of BVB shares and traded with those. Homm(!) saved Borussia Dortmunds bundesliga licence with his renovation package. After all that BVB hired Watzke in 2005 and he saved them with his excellent economical skills. Bayerns money was for player salary in EARLY(!) 2004 and it had nothing to do with "mission save borussia dortmund in AUTUMN(!) 2004" because BVB paid Bayern everything back in SUMMER(!) 2004. So: Bayern money early 2004 -> BVB paid it back summer 2004 -> BVB licence problem autumn 2004 (saved by Homm)! Of course it was nice from Bayern, but wasn't helpful in Dortmunds situation at all. Hoeneß talked about it EIGHT years later, cause he was jealous of Dortmunds sudden success and packed it up like Bayern were their big savior...

Still remeber from a podcast in norway that focuses on german football, talking about a kindergarden in Bochum who was going to the museum of Schalke 04 and could not go because of Covid. They did not get the 100€ worth of tickets refunded.

So. I am a bit late, but if you are reading this.I also apologise for my not so perfect english. Please like, so that the others have a chance to read the opinion of a Schalke Fan from the direct area. And the problems now, were created way back in the past. In 2005 Ralf Rangnick took over Schalke and gave them a very good DNA for the future. Mirko Slomka took over and Schalke were a really, really strong side only missing the title by 2 points. Then Felix Magath took over. Magath destroyed the club financially by buying a massive amout of mediocre players. But Schalke recovered because they had this golden generation of talent and Rangnick again took over for half a year. Even winning them the DFB Pokal. But after that it was good, but not as succesful as under Slomka back then. So one coach came after the other and after some time director of football Horst Heldt was replaces with Christian Heidel. Heidel brought in manager Weinzierl and they were not really good to be honest. Even worse than before. So after that he brought Domenico Tedesco and things turned really sour. If you look at the statistics you wont notice it but you can ask every Schalke Fan. Schalke finished second in the first year of Tedesco. But not because they played good. They were second because they were unbelievable lucky. The bigger problem was, that Tedesco was sorting out any kind of leader the Squad had. In his first season he loaned out world cup winner Höwedes, because he was "not good" enough. FYI he was loaned out to Juventus. Then Schalke lost key players with Leon Goretzka and Max Meyer. Also Tedesco forced out Ralf Fährmann, the other big leader in the dressing room. He then brought in his wish players and they all had very questionable mentalities and things went bad on the training ground and offside the pitch. So in conclusion: The Schalke of the last seasons was not always good. But they were a team with superb mentality and fighting will. In his second year, Tedesco extracted that mentality and fighting will. 5 Losses at the start of his second season. Danger of relegation. After the first half of the season, Christian Heidel retires, and Tedesco is sacked a few weeks later. And if you think it cant get worse. It gets worse. They bring in as managing director, Jochen Schneider, who before that was with Stuttgart (the video says it all. Went for selling the chairs got relegated and was forced out), Michael Reschke, who was very bad at Bayern Munich and since today 25.11.2020 is fired, because he tried to sell a player without even talking to the board the coach or even the player, and they brought in David Wagner, who to be honest, had a bad squad to work with, but had no tactical clue at all. His tactic was. Playing a long ball behind the oppositions defence. And that worked in the beginning quite well, because in germany the teams tend to press very much. But after like 3-4 months, the oppositions were just playing with a low block against Schalke and Wagner didnt find a solution. So Schalke was not scoring at all. Now Baum took over. And to be honest. He has a quad without mentality. No fans that can support, due to covid. No money to buy new players. And a squad that did not play possesion or creative football for the last 3 years. Off the pitch: Since Clemens Tönnies was forced out due to him being a racist ****. Alexander Jobst took over as a interim solution. And besides 85% of Schalke Members being against a "Ausgliederung" (sources from a member survey made by the club) he is already making plans for it. Due to covid the yearly main assembly of the members didnt take place so the members right now cant interfere with that.

My club. My poor club. I've been a fan since 2012 and I'm fearful of what's happening to my club Edit: at this point in time I've already accepted relegation, just waiting on it to become official...😓😢😭

Also if when purchasing the season ticket they were informed that no refunds will be issued and all sales are final, club asking for proof before issuing a refund isn't that outrageous

The commercialisation of football is ruining this model and many historic German clubs like Hamburg, Kaiserslautern, Stuttgart, Bremen are all bottom feeders now

Unfortunately i´m very sure, that the Fans would rather go unter by beeing proud of there Roots, then saving the Club by outsourcing and restart with fresh Money and fresh Players.

Started watching Schalke not so long ago, it makes me so sad. Sometimes I debate if it is best to let the Royal Blues go down to the 2. Bundesliga like Hamburg and give them time to restructure but still, so sad and dramatic the fall.

Problem is that if they get relegated there is a possibility that they wouldn't get a licence for the 2nd division so they could drop directly to the third division

Not a word about Tönnies? Certainly it was not about players nor coaches or even manangers, but investement and interest. Okay in 14:50, but since he was in the centre of power of schalke, why don't start with him?

You forgot how many players left schalke on a free. Goretzka, Matip, Nubel, Rakitic, eric chopou moting and many others. They could have got over 130 million if they sold those players and not let them leave on a free.

Schalke's Ruckrunde was so dismal that I was really surprised they weren't among the teams fighting to save relegation.
