What's 'WRONG' with GOLDENDOODLES / GROODLES / DOODLE DOGS… (& other Stories)

A wile after me and my wife moved in together her sister was giving up her (at the time) 8 year old goldendoodle up because he was "too much". My wife immediately snatched him up as she was already in love with him knowing him from puppyhood. I was kinda salty about it TBH, But he grew on me so quickly. Despite me only meeting him a handful of times prior he would snuggle up to me and was so friendly. He clearly cherished every ounce of attention and affection given to him he was so eager to please doing whatever was asked of him without hesitation, it seemed all he wanted to do was make people happy and I'm not to sure what was "to much" about him he was always calm and well behaved. He passed away recently due to some heart problems from being an older dog (13) and the house felt so empty without him. Me and my wife decided to get another puppy (we were actually looking into it prior to our dog passing away to take some pressure off) this is our second golden doodle and he's brought back some light into this home. I don't think we'll ever get another breed were absolutely hooked on them they are truly "next level" dogs.

How good that you and your wife gave the goldendoodle a great home for the remainder of his life. Sounds as though it was the perfect match. And it's wonderful you've embarked on a brand new dog, a brand new personality to join you now he is gone. Enjoy your new fur baby, the shining light of your home x

I agree with everything you have said. When we take Willow any place, everyone stops to love her up. Most people in our neighborhood all know Willow! In fact when people walk by the yard and Willow is not out, they always ask, "Where is Willow". My husband is the daily dog walker, however, when I have taken her on walks, people I don't know come up to me and say Hi to Willow. These are the greatest dogs!

I have the same reactions with my labradoodle. When walking him the people driving in the neighborhood all get big smiles when they see him.

I could not agree more with everything you said. There’s definitely an ease when meeting new people while out with them. Everyone has a smile on their face and happens all so natural. Love it!!

My 4-yr old F1B goldendoodle boy Chester is by far the most affectionate dog we've ever had. Got him as a puppy. We've always had 1 boy and 1 girl dog for most of the 33-yrs we've been married. Chester makes friends everywhere he goes. Home Depot, Lowe's, Joann's, The Painted Tree, etc. are all stores that allow dogs. Those employees know him by name, and get all excited when he comes in. We have neighbors down the street that have 2 young girls, and both are completely in love with Chester, and he with them. He has no aggression in him at all. Prior to Chester, I was always cautious about my dogs, "just in case". But Chester simply does not have aggression. He's lovable with all people, all strange dogs, cats, etc.

My 5 month old Golden doodle Gema is just such a joy in my life. The kitty would disagree with this. She attracts attention every where I go. She’s the smartest dog I have ever had.
