VIDEO INTRODUCTION:
On 11th of July 2022, the Reserve Bank of India a made very very bold announcement whereby domestic traders could settle their imports and exports with Indian Rupees!! This was a very very big deal because India could trade directly with Russia without depending on the American banks!! So in spite of the rising oil prices, we could buy discounted oil from Russia in Indian Rupees. and as citizens of India, we were delighted to see this because we saw this as a gesture of India bravely standing against the West and a giant leap to take the Indian Ruppe Global!!! But exactly 1 year later, there is something unpleasant that came to our notice!! Turns out this strategy has failed to an extent where Now Indian traders are buying Russian oil not just with dollars and dhiram but even with the Chinese Yuan!! Yes, you heard that right, Indian Oil Corp which is India’s biggest buyer of Russian crude oil, became the first state refiner to pay for some Russian purchases in yuan. and At least two of India’s three private refiners are also paying for Russian imports in yuan.
and as much as it is important to appreciate and celebrate the good moves by India, it is equally important to follow up on them and see if there is a tangible output coming out it!!!
Think School is a Digital School that we all deserved, but never had

China is in a whole different planet than India. India needs to stop obsessing over China and needs to get rid of jealousy of Chinese progress. It would do great justice to India if it learned something from China. China calls the 100 years when its population was drugged with opium by European colonizers as "century of humiliation" and wants to put that behind. Whereas India still considers speaking English, acting like Europeans, bowing down to the western masters, a great achievement. If not from China, hey India and Indians, learn something from Africans and how they are standing up to their colonizers today.

That won't happen any time soon. Both SCO and BRICS are heavily divided. We are also moving closer and closer to the West by the day thanks to China. As of right now and near future, it is far more beneficial for us if USD continues being the world's currency. Maybe it would be more useful in future when China's growth slows down significantly as their population ages and ours would be mostly in the working age but right now, we'd be digging our own graves if we go ahead with it.

@@somerandomguy9125you are missing the point. without BRICS curreny, India end up using RMB to pay China, that's the reality. going closer to the West will not change that, it will make it worst. at least with BRICS, you will be using a currency that is 40% influence by China, not 100% influence by China as with the RMB. those are really the only 3 choices India has: USD, RMB, or BRICS. with India force to attempt restriction dictated by US if it use USD, and I don't need to explain why India wouldn't want to use RMB, so BRICS is the best choice. if the west cares about India, India would be invited into G7. Indian need to wake up, the west will never treat India has one of them because Indian interest such as in Iran, Middleeast and Asia are more inline with BRICS than G7. for India to join G7 would require India to abandon it independent policies on Iran and Russia. can it? so think slowly...
@lagrangewei
@lagrangewei Жыл бұрын
@@sreenathgopinathan5415 people are confusing the India that BRICS currency will be like Euro, it will not. it a payment currency, not a domstic currency. all BRICS countries will continue to use their domestic currencies, but they will set a peg with the BRICS currency and put their currency into BRICS bank in exchange for BRICS money which they will use to pay other countries. and those countries will also put their money in the BRICS banks to trade. so the BRICS bank will have currency of all countries and it will cash them out in the other currency to make payment. the point of the system is to get rid of using USD to exchange. it does not replace national currency of any country. the problem right now is if you trade directly which each other currency, you need a balance of trade or one side will have more currency then they need and so has no reason to accept more of that currency. like the example of Russia having too much Rupee and so refuse to accept any more Rupee. if you have a BRICS currency. Russia will be holding BRICS currency instead and so India can continue to buy using Rupee by selling Rupee to BRICS bank for BRICS note that Russia will accept. so BRICS bank will end up like a "reserve bank" that hold everyone's currency. that's the point.

Don’t need to hate, am a Singaporean Chinese here. India has so many talents that’s holding the post of CEO/COO/CFO all over the world, it doesn’t lack in talent, india has smart and wise people. The 2 main problems I see that are holding india back enormously are it’s pride and bureaucracy. Pride makes one irrational when making decision, this is where the Chinese side scores better, they are doers of things, not just bragging day in and out. How does this affects Indian society you might ask? Well, the very simple fact that when one boasted that they are so good but in reality they aren’t. Then the public will be mislead into thinking they have reached the endpoint and falsely believe that no further works need to be done. This is exactly what is happening for the past many decades since india independence and up till present. The second is crazy amount of bureaucracy. India has adopted democracy and all of its ills along with it. Do y’all really think democracy is all good without flaws? Just have a look at the western parliament if that will give you a good glimpse how unproductive it gets the society into. Instead executing good public policies for the collective good for the society and people, each opposing party in parliament are just fighting with one another even if it’s not at the benefit of its people, these are the ills of being a so called “democracy” and of cuz I’m not saying autocratic is good too, both have their pros and cons, yall just need to find a system that fits your country and society, and keep trying, make changes if the situation calls for it. Last but not least is the caste system, I think I don’t have to elaborate on what societal ills this brings to India’s society as a whole. I’m sincerely hoping that the younger generation of Indians will see the real truth, and not be blinded by pride and emotions and make rational and good decisions for india for the future to come. Jai hind 😊

India should agree on BRICS commodities pegged currency for the interim. It won't harm India, rather it will prevent the meteoric rise of China economic might and also help fend India any possible sanctions in the future ( it is not 100% certain India can remain in USA's good book for ever).

@@Mira-pm3niits obvious adversaries can start a new chaos or gaslight the ongoing chaos among various ethic groups or religion or regions with in the country's boundaries whether you have democracy or plutocracy or autocracy or dictatorship, rather than nature of government or political systems chaos just require internal division or differences among common man or ambitions/ego/arrogance among powerful man which can be exploited to disstabilize a nation. If there is internal division within the country, adversaries don't even have to try that hard, they can exploit the differences easily supporting the opposing views or sentiments. What I see from outside is, India is far more divided internally whether it be in religion(hindu/muslim/Christian) or in economic capabilities (poor/rich) or in ethnicity(higher/lower cast) or be in Language(hindi/native) or region(north/south/north east). And the gap in differences has been increasing since BJP formed its government in 2013. What BJP have been doing is seriously hampering India social, political and economic strata, the effects will be more pronounced in the future. (I neither support nor oppose BJP) If India is aiming to be Biswaguru in Economy, Innovative Technology and Military sphere, it needs people with strong willpower to push their country forward, motivated to work together and hard resolving all difference and as a coherent country. What BJP is doing is exactly opposite of that. If this will continue forget beating China, you can't even compete with Vietnam and Brasil (Right now in economic aspects India is in drect competition with Vietnam and Brasil rather than China). Everybody loves their country and their sovereignty. Many country around the world have border issue and still are living peacefully with their neighbour. The border issue between china and india is not unsolvable, but you should have right mindset to identify what is better for country's development. A country cannot develop freely if there is fear of military clashes with their neighbors. And India is constantly living in that situationsince its inception whether it be Pakistan or China. India is in desperate need of technology transfer which the Global North will never share its secrets because it they do so they believe it will undermine their influence and power around the world. And observing all the ups and downs in the geopolitical and geoeconomic scenarios they are 100% not willing to share their abilities with other, rather they want to milk their abilities via neocolonism throughout the world. Russia and China can help India in technological transfer what india needs. If India and China resolves their differences it will help both the country. How much agony you guys are with each other, you still need one another for the betterment of each other. So help each other.

I don't think there is any problem if we pay in yaun because buying of russian oil is very important for india right now not just because of so called Discount ( Even there are some reports that the discount on russian oil has narrowed to 4$ ) but for the foreign relation and security. India at any cost would not want Russia to be that weak that it slips to the Chinese orbit. This is one of the reason of buying of russian oil from india at thia huge amount dispite negligible discount.

if russia has rupee struck in their bank accounts, they can pay the indian labourer in indian rupee partially ( partially because they would need rouble to live in russia and pay for their daily expenditure ) because anyway those people send money back home. so instead of sending roubles and then getting them converted to rupee, they can just simply send those indian rupees back home. in this way russians can get that struck money to some use. JUST A SHORT TERM WAY. IN LONG RUN OF COURSE WE SHOULD FOCUS ON MANUFACTURING AND INFRASTRUCTURE. OR DEVELOP A BRICS CURRENCY.

The problem with buying oil with rupees is that India exports little that Russia needs. The Rupee that an oil seller like Russia accumulates has nothing much it can use the Rupee to buy. China on the other hand, manufactures much that Russia now needs that it can no longer buy from the US or Europe due to sanctions.

1. Rupee is piled up in india, means inflation. 2.Paying in yuan, means decrease in reserves. 3.Discounted russian oil, Only been profitting oil exporters and Govt. Is burning peoples pocket by increased taxes. 4. Rupee value is decreasing, How can we expect Foreign investers to invest in depreciating asset ?? 5.Manufacturing requires skill and infrastructure, Skill comes from education, And Infrastructure comes from govt. investment, With politics in education and corruption in investment ( Pune collapse + bihar freefall.. etc) What can we expect ?? Only rag picking of chinese wastes ..!

Hi, Think School I have a doubt. If the exchange rate between both parties has been fixed so why Russian bank would keep the Indian rupee with him or it needs to buy something from India to settle the transaction? As both countries agree on a fixed exchange system so why need to worry?

Our country wants Ruppe to go global and to be used as trading currency in trade with other countries... But we see here that India has only 18 countries with which we can trade in Rupee .... It means when we trade with other 160 countries....we need to pay out of our Forex reserves... But import of Russia fron india is way lesser than what Russia export us .... It means when we pay for imports from Russia,,,we pay Russia in Rupee... But due to lack in global acceptance of Rupee it doesn't worth it for Russia to hold ₹140 billion Rupee.... Instead it can convert it into Rubel to strengthen it's own economy... For that... india must buy ₹140-150 billions of items to convert those Billions rupee in Russian bank...

The real problem is India not allowing rupee transaction (in economics, it's called convertibility of currency on capital account). If a country want others to use it's currency it must follow its usage in market.

@vikasrai338

@@pragasanarchary2980 Partly true. But not fully. Even Chinese can't have convertibility in full inspite of huge trade surplus for ages. On the other hand USA has almost full convertibility. So full convertibility is essential requirement for being a currency. US probably never had trade surplus. Convertibility of currency is almost a different game of leadership. Probably bigger driver will be leadership in technology, will to interfere in others matter and lead the world. A vision backed by everything which makes world have confidence that you will be leader in long foreseeable future. USA is rule maker of world. It has strong backing of west and it has technology ethical superiority. I know it's it may not be best response, slightly unclear, but that's what I really see it.

Actual irony is , even if India purchased cheap oil from Russia, the benifit wasn't given to Indians. No price dropped in India. Although oil businessmen sold the same to EU at a higher profit, no benifit is passed on to indians

One of the primary concern of India is the trade deficit it has. All the global schemes that India is implementing is very less effective unless we have Indian companies exporting. Very few indian companies gets to global level and its time we change that. China may have a lot of internal problems and is not trusted much but its strong financial hold outweighs all.

Increasing the export is only possible by making our MSMEs cost-effective product manufacturers. I think it's not happening because most of the MSMEs are owned by owners above 45 and they are still relying on manpower and resisting automation. As it's an unglamorous place to work most young educated Indians are not really interested in starting an MSME unit. If more young educated youths are driven to product manufacturing via MSMEs it could make a big difference. We have to give equal attention to MSMEs as we give to startups..

The international acceptance of India's currency will not increase because India must do whatever the United States wants according to its requirements, and there is no comparability between India's rupee and the US dollar. Why do other countries not accept the US dollar but the rupee?? If one day the United States wants to sanction them, then all the rupees in their hands will be waste paper.. Why not keep dollars instead of rupees?? It is destined that the rupee will not leave the international market.. And China's currency is different. No matter which country the United States sanctions, they are free to use the yuan for trading and can purchase anything they need from China, a super manufacturing market.. Why do they choose rupees instead of Chinese yuan?
