Regarding the first story, the thing that shocked my friend the most was that hamburgers are not made with ham, they are made with beef. She was also Hindu.

Similar story about a former coworker who was Hindu and mistakenly believed cheeseburgers to be made of cheese and not beef. Another coworker corrected him, to his utter dismay, and he lamented "But they taste so good!"

Just adding to that story about the almost blind people wanting to do all sorts of seeing jobs. I have 8% sight (which is enough to read normal letters, but I need to keep it close to my face. In my country, all men are required to enter a draw to enter the military, it is optional for women, so when I was 18 years old, I got a letter informing me that I had the option to enter the military and I could even get a career and become an officer, a pilot or a third thing which I don't remember. Really, I only remember the pilot part because I thought it would be fun to contact the people who sent that letter and let them know that I thought it was a brilliant idea to become a military pilot and completely ignore the fact that I'm roughly 92% short of meeting the sight requirement. Yes, you should not let people tell you what you can and can't do because of your disability. Most often, people don't know what they're talking about as they are not you. However, you also need to be realistic. A person who is wheelchair bound should probablly not aim to be on the front lines, a deaf person would definitely not be able to work in a call center, and a blind person can not hope to be a doctor, probably for the next 100 years or more. When I was in elementary school, I briefly wanted to become a vet, but even then I knew it was impossible. Now I'm aiming to become a high school teacher. I can travel the world, even by myself if I want, and I've done it a few times too. So, it is true that you shouldn't let your disability limit your options, no matter what it is, but maybe consider whether what you want to do has a hindrance that you cannot overcome on your own and think of a solution, and if there is none, then maybe then consider your dream unrealistic.

This is true. I'm currently avoiding the optometrist because I know i will be declared "legally blind," with the paperwork. However, my eyes have been failing for a long time, so I've started to depend on other senses. Especially my hearing. So I can hear things that a lot of people can't because I have to pay more attention. I remember this one guy who was totally blind from a very young age, who would stunt bike on busy streets using echo location. It's insane what the human body can ajust to when you live with a disablity for most of your life.
@BlindZubat
@BlindZubat Ай бұрын
@@XCaptianXChaosX I would highly advise you to go to the eye doctor. You can get a lot of help after you get the ok from your doctor that you are legally blind. I knoe here in America you can get hooked up with your states local comission for the blind and they can help you out a lot. The will also help you with getting accessable tech you may need. Or a cane. I bought a nice Ambutech No Jab cane. Now I don't need to hold on to anyones are to walk. Also, I can accidentally wack my dads ankles and he will get the hint to walk a little faster. Seriously, canes are freaking life savers!

Story 5 really resonates with me. I had a friend and housemate just like that. He had depression admittedly, but more than that he was ALSO just lazy and slack. I tried to help him for his depression but his laziness and personal desire to be useless always got in the way. Even when I arranged things for him and all he had to do was show up on time he still couldn't even do that. He stopped taking his antidepressants, preferring to self medicate with illegal drugs and became an insufferable, lazy, liar - (I found out years later he wasn't ever paying his fair share of the house bills). My "Hate to break it to you" moment was telling him I was sick of his crap and moving out. Last time I saw him he was homeless and clearly still on the drugs. I heard through the grape vine that he eventually got taken pity upon by family and moved back in with them but never managed to get another job as he's burned all his bridges.

@Arkayjiya
@Arkayjiya Ай бұрын
He didn't know in advance what he needed. Some people get into depression and becomes genuinely incapable of working any further. It's literally a medical condition and sometimes there is no actual solution, no helping it. So if you're treating it like laziness, you're essentially playing a game of russian roulette, that's one of the reason people kill themselves. That doesn't mean it's his friends' job to take care of him of course, social security should be the one determining if it's a medical issue or not, not his pals from college, but it does mean that by giving someone a "kick in the butt" you can cause more harm than good and push them to suicide. In that situation, I'd recommend not making assumptions on their own situation or "laziness" and just talking about your own: The fact that you can't support him further, it's too heavy for you. It's a fact that it's not a sustainable thing for his friend and it's not demeaning to people who have heavy and irreparable mental issues to point it out and want to take care of your own mental health first.

@@Arkayjiya I had a similar friend ,helped him so much over years (I was not only one doing it) but as everyone saw how he isn't doing any progress or improvement over many years ,most of us just gave up because he always became too dependent which created a big burden for anyone as dealing with my own problems and his was destroing me and when someone just tried to push him to do at least something ,he bacame overly defensive and said haw he can't because of his condition etc. ..... his condition caused by something that happened 10+ years ago ,the more time I spent by this ,the more I believe he just used it to get atention from people and when everyone got enough of it, he just find new people and circle repeated

Mine has not happened yet. I have three sisters. Two are decent hard working women, the other is entitled. I am a man of means. I have shared my will to my two decent sisters, who will get a substantial amount of money when I pass, along with my wife and children. My entitled sister will get $12.57. No one knows what this specific amount refers to apart from my entitled sister and me. I have made it explicit in my will that this is not a mistake, it cannot be challenged in court (my lawyer is very good at making ironclad contracts and wills). When I die, and my sisters, wife and children go to the lawyer's office, I know entitled sister will have a grin on her face, thinking this is pay day. That is when my wife will have her... 'Hate to break it to you.....' moment. She hates my sister, and so do the rest of us.

My coworker said she had given up chocolate for Lent, so she had switched to peanut M&Ms. I told here there was still chocolate in them. She insisted there wasn't. I told her to bite one in half and she would see the little ring of chocolate around the peanut. She was not happy.

I have one from when i was a child that is totally mind-blowing. At summer camp, a girl in my cabin had no idea how to use a tampon. We were about 12 years old. Bunkee got her first period. Two of us kept trying to explain it, and she just wasn't grasping it. Eventually, the poor girl screamed, "JUST TELL ME IF IT GOES IN MY PEE HOLE OR MY BUTT HOLE!" Which caused utter silence and shocked faces all around. So i asked, "How many holes do you think you have?" Camp bunkee- "Two?" Me- dreading this "No, honey. You have three. You pee from one. Then you have your vagina. Which is where the tampon goes (i wasn't going to explain sex. Not my place,) and then your butt hole. You dont want to stick the tampon up your ass and it won't fit up where you pee. So go with the third option." After that, it only took her two tries to insert. However, I've been in total shock over that and trying to figure out how that girl went 12yrs thinking she has "two holes" for almost 3 decades.

I mean thats pretty reasonable in my opinion, at 12yrs old she had "no need" for the third hole and depending on sex ed she may not have even known what sex was so I dont find it that odd that she thought she only had 2 holesy the third one doesnt do anything until u get your period or are sexually active. @@XCaptianXChaosX
