Thank you for sharing! I'm new to carnivore after going Keto in Feb '22 at age 56 to reverse my T2Diabetes and high BP - off 5 prescription meds this year and down 30 lbs so far. Naturally have gone carnivore just as a matter of life style and health improvements this year. I never liked a lot of veggies and just don't want them. I find I have better gut health overall on a mostly carnivore way of eating. I am having to learn how to cook meats and having a better variety of spices will really help me enjoy the food more. I love listening to Cutting Against the Grain and your honest, straight forward, no nonsense style. The first few months of dietary changes had me thinking I had to avoid every little gram of so many things but like you I have quickly realized that while I need to stay away from sweets that I still want to enjoy my life and not worry about a tiny amount of this or that. I've got to find my way to make this sustainable for life. I've lost 4 close family members to complications of diabetes. I didn't want to be next. I really had to change my life style to save my own life. Now, I'm working to learn how to make that life more fulfilling every day. It's a work in progress. Your one non-negotiable of carnivore only really helped me. I don't feel hungry anymore BUT I still deal with the emotional eating. I have made it my non-negotiable that if I eat when I probably shouldn't that it will be carnivore. I haven't had sweets since I first started in February which is a HUGE win for me. I avoid Keto foods and eat mostly whole foods now. I feel better than I have in decades and my mental health is also so much better! I have added QUALITY years to my life! I'm staying vigilant while working to not be completely rigid. Please keep posting and sharing! You are truly making a difference! Thank you again and blessings to you!

I feel your story. I am 45 and in Feb'22 started keto at 315lbs and diabetic. As of Sept '22 I've lost 50lbs, my a1c is 5.5 and I only take 1 medication for my BP which is lower than when I started. My my. Is a 40 yr diabetic I've had many family members with diabetes who have hard sick lives and then pass away too early. When my friend 1 yr older than me passed in Feb I knew I had to do something or I would follow her soon. Congrats to you. I am a mostly carnivore about 80 percent of my diet is animal based. I can run up and down the stairs now when in Feb I had to painfully do 2 feet each step like a toddler. This really is a life giving not just changing diet. I have done many diets including vegan and never had such success and mental clarity and health benefits. Be well

That’s when you throw it out. Then move on. You HAVE TO HAVE VARIETY in the foods you eat! That’s what makes any eating plan sustainable!

We make our own spice blends. Taco, Cajun, Montreal, and ranch. We were pretty strict for the first 6mo, only salt. Then slowly started adding onion and garlic powder on occasion. My family Czech so giving up paprika forever was scary. But it's been a few months now adding spices back and no detectable health issues. We were never big fans of black pepper even before but do use some white pepper in blends. It's still 50/50 using only salt or spice blend. Sometimes the steak so good only needs salt.

Great video! I keep it fairly simple, but like some basic seasonings. I recently added Redmond's Real salt, but have used Gator Sprinkle (from Gator Sauce Co., Felda FL) for several years, and my sister sent me some Slap Ya Mama Cajun seasoning (from LA). Both are fairly simple and I think they're fairly clean. I mainly use the Redmond's salt and accent with the other two.
@toomuch2do470 Жыл бұрын
You may not see this- BUT is Redmond worth the money? Is it better tasting than my regular kosher salt?
@christopherthompson3313 Жыл бұрын
@Toomuch2do From what I've read and heard, it should be free of microplastics that other forms of salt may contain. Granted, it comes in a plastic container, but everything else does, too. It also has a unique flavor, which might be worth trying. It is my belief that others suggest it for carnivore, since we are adding back in a noticeable amount of salt, after removing it with all of the processed food which contains salt. It hasn't hurt my budget yet, since I usually mix it with Gator Sprinkle, which is predominantly salt, but some other spices, too. They do offer larger refill bags that are more economical than the shaker bottle.
