Nothing that is said in the conversation moves the needle in either direction, and I can't comprehend why. I am pro-Israel, and my wife is pro-Palestinian. A few weeks ago, I pulled a trump card in our discussion on the topic, which we mostly avoid because it goes nowhere and emotions run high. I showed her a New York Times article from 2009 called Fighter Sees His Paradise In Gaza's Pain. It features an interview with a jihadist where he is asked about the dying children in the conflict, and his answer is the answer no one on the left wants to acknowledge. My wife quickly dismissed the article as biased. They don't want to see that for them, it is glorious when a child dies for Allah. I think the Pro-Palestinian stance is anti-Palestinian if you reason out the stance. It gives Hamas permission to continue to push children, women, and the weak forward to the frontlines of this conflict. I think it is an act of pure evil to try and maximize the civilian deaths of your own people in a war. It's an act of pure evil to build your tunnel under apartment buildings, schools, and hospitals, knowing that when Israel launches a defensive strike, it can't help but inflict civilian casualties. The pro-Palestinan will never, through sheer will, come to the realization that Hamas and those fighters do not share our values, and no matter how hard we project Western values onto them, it doesn't transform the reality of the conflict. Those numbers of civilian dead we hear are because the Jihadists believe they are sending those people to paradise in the name of Allah's glory on earth.

At least it was 1964 when plo was founded... I've tried to find the very first mention of Palestine in the modern sense, it's probably in the 60s. Which I shorten up with the sentence "the Palestinians are younger than the Beatles" (b. 1960). Maybe one day I'll find an older mention and have to replace them with the Platters (b 1953)😏

@@nefaristo "The only Arab domination since the Conquest in 635 c.e. hardly lasted, as such, 22 years". The preceding declarations by Arab politicians have been done before 1967, as they had not the slightest knowledge of the existence of any Palestinian people. How and when did they change their mind and decided that such people existed? When the State of Israel was reborn in 1948 c.e., the "Palestinians" did not exist yet, the Arabs had still not discovered that "ancient" people. They were too busy with the purpose of annihilating the new Sovereign State and did not intend to create any Palestinian entity, but only to distribute the land among the already existing Arab states. They were defeated. They attempted again to destroy Israel in 1967, and were humiliated in only six days, in which they lost the lands that they had usurped in 1948. In those 19 years of Arab occupation of Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip, neither Jordan nor Egypt suggested to create a "Palestinian" state, since the still non-existing Palestinians would have never claimed their alleged right to have their own state... Paradoxically, during the British Mandate, it was not any Arab group but the Jews that were known as "Palestinians"! What other Arabs declared after the Six-Day War: "There are no differences between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. We are all part of one nation. It is only for political reasons that we carefully underline our Palestinian identity... yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity serves only tactical purposes. The founding of a Palestinian state is a new tool in the continuing battle against Israel". - Zuhair Muhsin, military commander of the PLO and member of the PLO Executive Council -

It's a death cult. Speaking as someone who used to take his Catholicism very seriously (wait for it...), I don't think many of my Jewish friends ("moderate" Judaism, bless its heart, and perhaps in fact almost all Judaism, is about debating beliefs, not unquestioningly accepting them) understand (at least to the extent I do) what it's like to even possess unquestionable beliefs. So as I learned about Islam, and then realized that these folks take their faith even more seriously than I used to take Catholicism, I must tell you: Just like the early Christians in Rome, they WILL DIE for these beliefs. And it is critical to extract as many as you can, somehow, from the death cults of the world. Love is the way.

Khaled Meshaal, a leader of Hamas, has emphasized resistance against what he views as occupation rather than explicitly targeting civilians based on ethnicity. His statements often support armed resistance but have also included openness to truces under certain conditions. While Hamas’s original charter was widely seen as anti-Semitic, their 2017 update reframed their stance as opposition to the Israeli state rather than to Jews as a people. Interpretations of Meshaal's views vary, with his rhetoric often reflecting complex political and ideological positions within the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

There's a tendency for religious apologists to forget that all religions are like this. Shin Bet intercepted a plot by religious ultrazionists to blow up the dome of the rock, in the hope of triggering the third world war, ushering in the messiah. During the Troubles the PIRA's hunger strikers knew that for the underdog, they could win by dying, as it would help unify public opinion against the British. Lane Craig's sort of Christian apologetics says that if a child dies, because they are innocent they go to heaven (doesn't say this anywhere in the bible but okay), and thus the command to commit genocide in the old testament wronged ONLY the Israeli [sic] soldiers ordered to kill all Caananites. During the Middle Ages they would submerge alleged witches, and say oh if she drowns she's innocent and goes to heaven! During the Albigensian crusade, the priest leading the army said they put 20,000 men women and children to the sword, and "Kill them all; God will know His own". So yeah, Christians, Muslims, Jews, have been literally praying for the end of the world for thousands of years and killing innocent people because of a sincere belief that innocent people go to heaven. Don't pretend otherwise! It's not just Muslims!
