@@littlebilly8747They definitely did. His Int% was 3.4%, Josh Allen was 3.1%, Mahomes was 2.3%. He can definitely improve his % and with less attempts this last years total Ints will be an obviously inflated number.

Yep, I am definitely excited about getting this young man to Seattle. I reaply feel like Grubb can tap into his full repertoire of skills and really help Sam reach the best version of himself. It was definitely a low cost low risk, high reward trade. John was playing 4D chess with this move, which in this particular draft and year was big time for us. Bravo to John for getting him and I look forward to watching him grow into the player he's going to be. A year behind Geno will do wonders for him.

Two seconds or less is all the man had on almost all passing plays! Give the man the same amount of time as all his opponents had to throw along with a running game and he will tear the league up! His abilities to go through the read progression is a lot better than you gave him in your critique but I will give you credit for showing the bonehead play with four receivers running the same route. That was what he was up against the whole season ! As soon as the other defenses got to see EB's offense with no running game they just laid back their ears and came after him on every play. I will never forgive EB or Ron Rivera for what they did to Sam. Seattle will learn soon enough what they have in Sam, He will know the entire playbook before training camp starts and will back it up with stellar performances! Seattle fans will be in for a treat! Somehow us east coast fans are going to have to figure out how to get Seattle games out here cause we believe in Sam and want to see him rise through the turmoil that he has had to endure! I think his style of play is a comp to something like a mix of Baker Mayfield & Josh Allen. He definitely needs development, but he has some positive traits to work with.

If you really want to know how good Sam Howell is get on U-Tube and pull up all his games from last year. It won't take long for you to figure out what went wrong. He beat the crap out of Dallas in his first NFL start the year before with another OC. He is a hell of a lot better than most people think he is and if he can recover from from the beating he took last year he will be better than Geno ever was. Count on it! Can't wait to see him in preseason! He will know the entire playbook before training camp starts and will only get better as he gets to know his new receivers. I hope the receivers like the ball in their chest because that is where he will put it! He is very accurate and can make every throw there is! He is an excellent scrambler and will lead by example. There is no quit in him! POMO

As a Washington fan, I attribute a lot of Sam Howell's struggles to Eric Bieniemy (aka extra buns). Way too many to list here, but let's just say that this past season proved why EB has never received a HC offer, and is now not even coaching in the NFL. If you guys can have patience and develop Sam well, then I think he can be your franchise QB for years to come.

JS has drafted 2 QBs since he's been in Seattle. I think this approach--acquiring QBs with upside that offer acceptable production while remaining cheap--is a smart approach, although it doesn't lead to finding an elite QB. If Howell can develop into at least 80% of what Geno can produce, his contract makes it a no-brainer that he should get a crack at starting in 2025. Big if, but IF Howell develops, he saves almost $38M against the cap. Sam had similar bad team play as Seattle--a bottom 5 pass pro OLine and bottom 5 defense, plus playcalling that seemed to ignore the running game. Geno was able to be much more efficient under similar circumstances because he's been in the league for a decade and doesn't make the same mistakes Howell made (65 sacks and 21 INTs is pretty damn bad). Howell also padded his stats playing from behind and passing in a lot of garbage time. But he has talent and can improve. And at $1M/year, Howell Could offer Seattle some flexibility while they build the roster and keep looking for the opportunity to draft or sign the next guy.

I agree that Howell makes it far more likely that the hawks wil cut Geno. The hawks would only save $25M ($13M in Dead money) but that is enough for it to be an option. Howell has a long shot of being an elite level qb (I think his highest upside would be something like 90% of Josh Allen) but giving him a chance in 2025 would make sense.

Not everything. Howell definitely has some major weaknesses but i was stunned by how incompetent the offensive design was. I'm telling you that is unlike any NFL offense (other than Matt Canada's Steelers) that I have ever watched. Definitely a major part of the problem and the Commanders should be glad that he is gone.

​@@teslamodelxdaniel8260 I don't disagree. I first of all think Brissett is a pretty good quarterback (not a franchise guy but definitely a top 32 player) and also a better fit. I will say, I have watched more Howell film and there were certainly games earlier in the year where the playcalling was much better, or even good. I don't really know what happened to make them shift to all of this quick game nonsense but it seemed to coincide with Howell playing poorly. End of the day, I think the offense towards the end of the year didn't use any of Howell's strengths and instead asked him to play like an NFL vet. His INT rate is the same as Allen for the Bills. 3%. Howell just threw it more. Of course, the bad side is Allen is a turnover machine so take the 3% rate with a grain of salt.

A 4-man pattern that wasn't going to work. He should have thrown the pick. You throw it away you don't throw it into the coverage. That's the problem. It wasn't the bad play it was the bad pass he shouldn't have thrown. That's been a Josh Allen problem with the Bills. Not every play is going to work. Don't try and make it work.

Thanks for your comment. I agree the TD to INT ratio is bad but I think that he is a young player who could turn into more than that. Josh Allen and Peyton Manning had terrible stats too. That's by no means a comp but I'm just saying your first year doesn't define you and you can't deny that he has so crazy highlights (and lowlights to be fair). :) Thanks for watching. I've heard a lot of commanders fans think he's bad so I'm not surprised. I will say that the more accurate trade charts have this value closer to a late day 3 pick, so as a hawks fan I don't feel that bad about the trade if you're right and he's trash. I think at this point, that is the smart move. The 49ers are at the height of their powers and the Rams are still a powerhouse. With a first year coaching staff, going all in to try to match the division doesn't make sense. The best thing the hawks can do right now is build towards 2025 and 2026 while trying to get a wild card birth for the time being.
