? In an effort to save on numerous boards and having the money to buy nice first, I was looking at the Blaricuda (goat construction) and the Vic Web due to the tail designs and coming from years of DK bodyboarding and Surfing. Are these both about the same for West coast waves and what size would you go for? 6’ 2” 200lbs Any difference in quality Vic vs Exile? I debated the in between board, but have done this before and it was not wise and wish I just went all in as I feel like you get used to your shape and relearning the quirks can be annoying in a new board.

I have restarted at age of 48. Built Skimboards when I was young. Bought a Hybrid from a German Shaper HW Shapes and had a lot of fun at the Atlantic Coast. Good counter job to wave riding. Sore legs all weeks long😅 not sure how they are compared in weight but assume to light would have been crap in the pretty strong winds. So something in the hand was good but guess compared to the wood bricks it is lightweight. It is called HW-Shapes Ultimate Wave and was 329€

What about the driftsun skimboard. Can you make a video on that or something

What do you think of wooden skimboards? I am good with wood and love making things with it. I am Brand new to skimboarding. I don’t have a ton of $$ to drop on a board. Also, I am older, age 54, a bit more heavy set… I rented a super light tiny board this past weekend. Broke wrist…Lol, and I was just practicing in shallow water. I am 5’11” about 230 in weight. Maybe a much larger board with a little more weight? This little light board kept shooting away from me by the the time I was planting my left foot.

Great video man! Really helpful. I’ve been skating all my life but just tried woodies and so I’m hesitating between an EX1 and something better. I’m just worried it doesn’t last as long as a carbon fiber one and could break. My goal being to catch waves, I’m also wondering if I would have to change fast to get some. Also is the hybrid shape easier to ride and more recommended for beginners intermediate? Is the swallow tail harder to ride?

@@SouthAusFishing can balance so well that u can go on a wave probably not and it’s bc the it’s not foam it’s carbon fibre and it’s bc the carbon fibre ones are a lot better to balance and are so much easier in general

@@SouthAusFishingwell tbh foam is basically as good as carbo so yh I guess it is foam yh never mind what I said yh I agree on the foam part but it’s bc there better

Hello Garrett! Thanks a lot for the video summary was great. I wanted to ask you, have you ever tried or heard about the local US brand Wavezone skim? Also, do you know Circle one skimboards? My level is intermediate to high level. I mainly want a board that will be durable and that will allow me to ride waves in all conditions, weaker and smaller, but also in bigger and stronger ones. Let me know which options do you think are the best for me. My budget is around 200-400 dollars. Thanks a lot!

Looking for a board for my boy. 14 yo 5/8 130lbs. Guys at exile told me the ex0 or ex1 to start. $230 for each. But the blairacuda fish is on sale from $325 down to $199. Is it to much board to start. Dont mind investing because we have several boys younger than him to pass it down. Your thoughts? I can only pay for your advice with a sub 😂😂😂

Hornet 5/8s just broke lol after a year of use. Probably going to buy another one but I don't know. If my 600 hundred dollar board only breaks after a year I might switch companies. Although I have nothing to say about the performance of the board, the performance was amazing and I loved it a lot. Idk I feel like exile needs to up their quality and longevity of their boards. Edit: if you were wondering what I was doing, I was pumping out to a wave and on one of the pumps it just snapped in half. Another thing is, is that there were no previous dings or previous breakings
@centr6l Жыл бұрын
I’ve had the same exile for 11 years and it has never had any problems. Definitely wouldn’t blame the brand as a whole for your board breaking. I’ve experienced nothing but great quality from them over the years
@prodClav Жыл бұрын
@@centr6l I went to the shop the other day and they examined the board, and they found like a dent on the right lower side of the board. I didn't think about it at the time but I did collde with my other skimboarder friend like 10 minutes before the break. Then after pumping out to a wave it snapped. I think it all makes sense now. But yes if that dent hadn't happened between me and my friend this board would have definitely lasted years if not decades.
