What sleeping direction is considered your sleep facing?

I've seen so many diagrams that show the wall the headboard is on is the "direction" you are "facing" and that didn't make sense to me, because if you have your headboard on the north wall, and you're lying there and look up, you're not "facing" north at all. But this is the first thing I've seen that explained it this way. I hope this is the right explanation and I'm understanding correctly now!
