Great video sir you gained a permanent subscriber Tom Mann the Godfather of soft plastics in bass fishing once said words to the effect of: "90% of bass fishing luers catch far more fisherman than fish" The shelves in my basement full of tackle organizer boxes full of luers (90% crankbsits) unused for years is proof I failed to heed Mr. Manns sage advice I also have 3 40qt storage bins full of exotic colored soft plastic worms I will likely never again use Why? Because the fallowing colors of worms, creature baits and now flukes and swim baits just always alway ALWAYS catch me bass using one of these colors RARE now is the fishing trip where I get skunked My current go to soft plastics colors for worms and creature baits are: *Watermelon red or blue flake *Watermelon candy *June Bug/Red Bug *Sapphire blue *Green pumpkin blue flake *Black blue sparkle flake Two colors specifically for creature baits that have worked extremely well for me have been: *Tilapia Magic *Okeechobee craw In 5-7" flukes and paddle tailed SB's absolute killer colors have been: *Ghost shad *Sight Fish *Pearl silver flake W chartreuse tail *Watermelon red flake *Watermelon blue flake *Watermelon candy Actually Watermelon Candy is now my only Watermelon colored fluke I use So essentially I use only five different colors of soft plastics worms and creature baits Two different colors specifically for creature baits only And really only three different colors unique to flukes and swim baits. I mean Z-Man super fluke comes in I think 120 different colors at essentially $6/10 you can invest literally $1k in just different fluke colors now add in worm and creature bait colors you're looking at spending a very significant sum of money on soft plastic baits that are designed and intended to be 100% disposable unlike hard baits which will last for years until lost or brake somehow And yes walking into my local Cabelas or BP fishing luers and tackle sections is now so overwhelming due to literally 100's of different style hooks and soft plastics I now 90% of the time shop at Cabelas or BP's online store buy what I need on line then drive to the store and pick it up otherwise it just takes to God Awful much time trying to locate the specific soft plastics Im looking for and WAY to much time trying to locate #1, 1/0, 2/0, 3/0 Owner non weighted and weighted screw lock hooks and my favorite Gamakatsu worm hooks and tungsten weights. And do not hesitate to change colors while fishing Monday of this week I was KILLING the bass using a T-Rigged Ghost shad colored 5.25" Z-man super fluke Wednesday fishing same fluke wasn't doing near as well then noticed gills were starting to bed in large numbers I instantly switched to a Watermelon candy fluke and immediately began catching bass again and in good numbers Lastly I have 50+ years of fishing experience and have fishing spinnerbaits for over 30 years and chatterbaits for 4 years Was only THIS year I put a trailer bait on my spinnerbaits and chatterbaits and WOW what a increase in my catching bass on them did I experience I went through a period of almost 20 years were I did essentially no new experimenting with new bass luers of any kind thinking there was nothing any new soft plastic luer or system to fish soft plastic baits could be any better than a T-Rigged worm Then for the heck of it tried a Z-mann chatterbait 4 year ago and my success with that luer was beyond anything new I tried I could ever recall This success prompted me to begin watching YT fishing channels and thats how I learned about the importance of trailers for chatter and spinnerbaits and got convinced to try soft plastic flukes and boot tailed SB's this year and I have not just caught at least 4x more bass doing so this year vs same time last year but caught many more higher quality big bass then ever before from the same lakes some Ive fished for over 40 years. Took me a little trial and error to find what chatterbait size and trailer type suze and color the bass wanted but once that was done my best outing this year was my son and I caught over 40 bass in the first 6 hours after sun up in one of my favorite smaller bass lakes all bass were caught along the same stretch of shore less than 600 yards long.

So if the water I fish has no shad is white still the go to? There's trout and bluegill. Do I go for a bluegill or trout like pattern for flukes/paddletails

Yes white will still work.

Bass can see in color and see a large majority of the colors we do.
