I'm happy that the game will be able to live in the players' memories with this version, I'm sad that I forgot to take a print of my records for each class and the account as a whole so unfortunately I will never be able to know how many exiles, damage, etc i did on the account but what to do, i hope this version released to the community can one day maybe be the gateway to bring the official game back, because i'm really not ready to say goodbye

@@JustSaySteven I agree, Spellbreak was always something to distract me from a stressful day and it always cheered me up with every exile I did whether it was with an ice arrow or an invisible toxin spray and I was always super happy to have an epic battle with someone who would decide the winner even if this battle was me flying in the tiny area saved from the magic storm and letting a fire tornado take care of everything. Spellbreak really was something that always made me very happy and I'm really happy for the amazing moments I had in the game but I'm sad that those moments end now. thank you so much for this amazing video showing us a light at the end of the tunnel! I'll just need to learn some programming to put this into practice lol

Not only did they allow the community to have their own servers, but they also released all the skins for free. Although I never played this game, but I have heard good things about the gameplay, it's amazing to see a game company do something like this for a change instead of shutting down the community's attempts to keep the game alive. **cough** Disney **cough cough** Club Penguin **cough**

This is so sick. I didn't get into Spellbreak quite as much as others but still played it everyday for a few months and I'm really not a BR fan. It was sad to hear it's ending becasue the combat mechanics just make truly fun gameplay. Hope to see someone make something of this.

Thanks for the video. I will be getting this if nothing else to play on my own. The world they created is very well done and as an artist I found it fun to explore, and escape to etc outside of the combat and I always wished they had allowed this kind of thing from the beginning. And by "this kind of thing" I mean play on your own with either an empty world or bots so one could get use to the world, how to control the character etc. I know this isn't the place for it but I wanted to take the opportunity to mention what I think was Spellbreak's biggest mistake and that was making players wait to play again once you were eliminated. I know that is how battle royal games typically work and they did add dominion mode later but it wasn't the same as playing in the large world map. Was hoping they would break the mold of how battle royal games work and allow players to rejoin a game immediately that they got knocked out of (other than dominion mode). There is a tank game I have played off and on for years and when you get killed you come back in the match after a count down no waiting 5 + mins for example. Sorry but no one wants to wait 5 or more minutes to play a game when there are so many other games one can play without waiting. Obviously if the player base is big enough one wouldn't have to wait but once people start having to wait I think they give up and would play other games they don't have to wait on. I made comments on videos on how the waiting could have been fixed but it fell on deaf ears. I am not sure the developers ever did a survey to see what players wanted changed to keep them coming back and that too probably "spelled" the doom of the game. Looking back apparently I played the game a lot having reached mage rank 50 and even spent some money on a few skins. I do feel bad for people who spent a significant amount of money on this game only to have it pulled from underneath them; but I suppose this version will help with that some. Who knows maybe the game can be brought back from death in a different version at some point. But at least now I can visit the world when ever I want even if it is all by myself; who knows maybe I will find areas I never saw before.

I mean, the assets are all there: for NPCs, there's over a thousand skins, each with the same general animation rigs; and a decently sized open world with clearly defined regions and landmarks, a handful of spells, skills, equipment, talents and runes with levels, variations and interactions between them.

I get thrown off from other BRs since the ideas of running around gathering supplies for 12 minutes only to get sniped by a camper seems unfun as hell. This game doesn't seem to have that problem.

I liked the style and concept of that battle royale a lot. It is true that it took time to find a game due to the lack of players. But instead of shutting it down, they should have done something to get the players' attention and not let it die. Now it only remains in our memories.

Loved the idea of the game when it first launched in beta but sadly wasn't able to play too much due to having a really shitty PC ... until recently Got a proper pc now, can play up-to-date games on high settings and enjoy the fps stability, and today out of nowhere I saw a video talking about what happened to Spellbreak. Didn't even bother watching the video, immediately typed it on google and found out about the closure of the servers. Was sad that one of the few BRs I ever saw as being really good had to close down, tho very quickly on Reddit I kept seeing links talking about a community version which led me to this video Ty ♥

This is amazing. I'll download it just to keep in my archive. TBH, I'll preach what I've been saying since I first played this game on alpha. This BR needed lots of unique enemy AI. It should've felt like playing an accelerated MOBA. Just fighting cool ass monsters would've got the casual RPG enjoyers into the game even if they end every round dying to an air gauntlet zoomer. I'll never forget when a dev explained why the poison gauntlet wasn't bottom tier with math and completely upturned the meta lol

it was worse when it was live. there was no decent match making. It would put you up against alpha tester players when I had less than 2 hours of playtime. they would run circles around you. the gameplay was fun but the horrible matchmaking made me happy to see it die. i'm sad I felt that way, it could have been great!

Wow! This is the first I heard of not only the game shutting down, but also of the game continuing to exist in its complete form. Proletariat were radio silent for so long, that I had forgotten all about this game. I invested fairly heavily into it, as I enjoyed it immensely so I figured spellbreak would be the BR type of game I would cling to. I am so happy to see I can continue playing it, especially after I dumped over $100 in supporting the game. I am definitely going to download all the files and create hardcopies for posterity. It really did deserve better treatment than it got, and Proletariat really did dump a lot of their souls into this game. Good for them on their choice to do this. This creates a considerable amount of goodwill for me. Sad to see it die, but glad that this frankenstein is still animated. Thank you for the heads up on this. Without any fanfare whatsoever, this has slipped by many radars not pointing in the right direction at the right time.

I reminisced a bit, clicked it, and it said "Download". Now I remember the game saying they were shutting down the servers, so I rushed to the PS4 Store and... there it was, Spellbreak was still being shown. I haven't downloaded it just yet because I don't wanna download it and then for it to be like "Sorry we've shut down" so is still possible to play the game on PS4 right now?
