I understand. I came from a racist family and hung out with some pretty terrible people. And I did some mean things under that influence. I had a moment of clarity in the Navy (30 years ago) when we newbies were being hazed and we were talking about it. Some people said they couldn't wait until they had a chance to haze boots and some people said they could never treat someone like that. I learned to avoid mean people. Then I learned to stop being mean. Life is much better this way.
