Good morning 🌄 Ellen! I like the Diagonal Eyelet Stitch! I LOVE anything lacy! That or the Diagonal Lattice Stitch - so beautiful! I use swatching yarn, too! Better to practice a new stitch on swatching yarn and THEN use the good stuff! Have a blessed day! 🙏🌄👍🌹☺️❤️

I love the diagonal eyelet stitch, but I wonder if the lacy quality of the stitch is not as prominent in a variegated yarn. I just finished a variegated scarf and I ended up with the honeycomb stitch (a favorite) because for me, the texture worked better with the variegated yarn. I’m working on a solid piece with a lightweight silk/cotton blend now and the lacy stitch is really the star of the piece. That said, I’m sure that whatever you choose will be great. You make such beautiful things. Thank you for your videos and tutorials.

Good point! Generally lace does look great in a solid color. Yours sounds beautiful! How wide and long did you make it?

Asymmetrical shawl in the diagonal eyelet stitch, starting with the small end, and working toward the wide end.

Hey Ellen, 220 yards so my pick would be the diagonal eyelet, dont want to use a big yarn eater. Nice to see you 🙂

Hi Ellen! I like the Diagonal Eyelet Stitch for a shawlette. But you need to follow your own inspiration and do what makes you happy! They are all beautiful stitches! I can’t wait to see what you decide!💞

Hi Ellen, I could see the shawl in the diagonal eyelet stitch but I, myself, am struggling with pieces that require a lot of concentration so understand if you don’t feel like tackling it and increasing at the same time. My 2nd choice is the diagonal lattice stitch. Whatever you choose you know it’ll look good. Stay safe and well. Thanks from Australia 🐨🦘

Thank you, Lesley! Yes, I couldn’t put my finger on it, but concentration is a factor!

I love Tunisian crochet but I always have the same issue with increases and decreases because stitch instructions do not include that and I don't want to make just square shapes

I think it probably needs to be lacy for a shawlette, so maybe the diagonal eyelet stitch. If you can’t work out how to increase on both sides, why not make it asymmetric and work it sideways? I’m a bit sad that you’re going to use Tunisian, as that rules me out. I can cope with any complexity of crochet or knitting, but don’t do Tunisian as I can’t see the point when I can knit, and have been doing so for 60 years! (I’ve been crocheting for over 50 years). Having said that, I shall look forward to seeing you make something gorgeous out of your beautiful yarn. What is it made of? ❤️
