Did you know that the carbon footprint of ICT is on a par with that of aviation? Is reducing energy consumption by devices the most important contribution to sustainable computing systems? How many elements of the periodic table are used in smartphone circuits? How much water is needed to produce semiconductors?
Arguably the greatest challenge of the 21st century, sustainability is a dauntingly large and multidimensional problem. In this webinar, Koen De Bosschere (Ghent University), Patrick Blouet, Thomas Ernst (CEA) and Lieven Eeckhout (Ghent University), all expert contributors to the HiPEAC Vision will set out some of the main issues, along with some potential solutions.
