Looking back at it, giving Charlotte a plain wedding gown was intentional in order for George to not find his bride too attractive and not get so attached to her. Augusta knew what she was doing.
@denisekoltys30195 ай бұрын
Princess Augusta was never Queen. Her husband passed before her father in law - The King. Augusta would never of had this kind of power. Besides Frogmore House was built specifically for Charlotte. This is all fairy tale fluff. If I’m not completely off my rocker this was also during the Revolution with the American Colonies.

Yes, Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Victoria and William and Harry are descendants of Queen Charlotte. Queen Charlotte was into the arts, horticulture / herbologist ( She Created Kew Gardens) , She introduced the Christmas Tree to the World, She spoke Several Languages, She was friends with Mozart and Marie Antoinette. Queen Charlotte was very Cultured before she married George. Buckingham Palace was built for Queen Charlotte. Also, Charlotte, North Carolina and County was named after her and she was heavily for the abolishment of slavery. There are Streets in Canada, England and the USA named after her, too. And, as some people want to deny, she was Black and back then they didn't use color in describing people, except the Portuguese. Actually, the First Original Royal Families were from Ancient Kemit/ Egypt/( Black/ Before it was robbed and invaded. The Cradle of Life, Medicine, Science, Embalming, Weddings, Architects, Agriculture, Universities / College , etc where Greece , Italian, Romans all came to study to build there countries with antiquity, now ( Read the Book Stolen Legacy) Africa that the world and European Royals emulated/ copied from as well as the Royal Color/ Purple/ Lavender. Queen Charlotte was Black/ Mulatto there is no denial. In fact , there are still Blacks passing as white today. Look at Harry and Megan children for example and look at Duchess/ Princess Meghan Markle.

It’s gruesome but that was how you got ANYTHING done long term back then. The idea was to breed as many children as possible and hand out land as evenly as you could to them as you conquered more land to distribute. One king and queen and their court were not enough to govern an empire. You needed strong and LOYAL above all else vassals and dukes, and your children were simply the best mould for that. Play crusader kings 3 for more than a few hours and you’ll understand. Or look it up lol. It sucks but they simply couldn’t find anything more efficient. It’s also why concubines and arranged marriages were so common. It’s was ALL about breeding as large a lineage as possible to spread influence and power.

@KL-ki8db2 ай бұрын
She wasn’t and at the most generous some can argue mixed since she did have black ancestors but they were roughly 300 years before her so it is unknown how much of their traits she actually inherited. Although, I will say that she probably wasn’t perfectly pale as painted as the Georgian era was known to paint their subjects a lot more pale than they actually were due to beauty standards. Even King George III, who was still a Caucasian had very ruddy and red skin as written during his lifetime, but the paintings clearly painted him more pale than he actually was. Although, I heavily doubt Charlotte looked like as portrayed in this series, she probably didn’t have a super pale skin tone either. Nevertheless, this series never claims and in fact made a warning at the start of the series that the series isn’t meant to be historically accurate but only historically inspired so I give it some slack for that. Sorry for the long answer, I just hope it cleared up some confusion.😅

People be getting mad that she’s black but it’s actually more accurate than u think. Let me explain. So, the real Charlotte was white, but was European, and by the royal families standards she wasn’t white enough, so they made her wear whitening powder and painted her portraits as lighter. But, because this show was filmed in the 21st century, we would not understand this as this isn’t a problem in our society today. So they cast a black actress so that the racism and problem is exaggerated in order to make it easier for viewers to understand and grasp. Does that make sense?? So not entirely factually incorrect. Just dumbed down for us as a society

So you don’t like fiction. Because that’s what you are saying. If it the character didn’t exist, you don’t watch it. There is no book that has ever been written that does not draw on history or the human experience in some way. Even fantasy worlds pretend to harken back to a fake versions of medieval Europe. Maybe just calm down and enjoy things for what they are: Fiction.

I don't understand why people are so sad that her skin colour isn't historically accurate. It isn't meant to be historically accurate in the first place. For me Bridgeton is playing in an hole different world that might share some similarities to historical events but also has totally different aspects to it. They never promised it to be historically accurate or a documentary. It's more like a fanfiction of history or as the creator said it's " fiction inspired by fact" .

@julesking13035 ай бұрын
Ok a lot of the comments are kinda mixing this up. Her family was known to have Moorish ancestry. The Moors were a North African culture that at one point had control of Spain, and originate from a few areas, including modern day Morocco. There were people from there who had both dark and light skin tones, but the fact alone that it is historically recorded that Charlotte has “Moorish blood” heavily implies that in real life, people noticed that she didn’t look entirely European. If she did, there wouldn’t be any record of her looking anything other than German. And the fact that the British Royal Family would want to historically erase this heritage MAKES SENSE if you know even a thing about them. They even try to hide their own German heritage, and Charlotte was hardly the first or only German in their family line. It is a simple fact that the British nobility have been trying to appear more pale for centuries, and even generations before Charlotte. It’s entirely likely that Elizabeth the First died due to complications from lead poisoning from the heavy lead-based makeup she applied to make her look more pale. The concept that British historians and artists would try to make her seem more “European” is not at all surprising.

Charlotte was probably also a different height than this actress, probably a different age than this actress, her real accent was probably very different than this portrayal. People don’t care about differences and inaccuracies 99% of the time but if the actress is a SINGLE shade of skin color too dark you’d think it was the end of the world. 🙄 It’s weird to be so fixated on race.
