The family of Breonna Taylor, the 26-year-old EMT worker killed in a botched no-knock raid in March, has agreed to a record $12 million settlement with the city of Louisville - one that will include substantial, lasting changes to policing, including the mandatory use of body cameras during police raids. @derty QWERTY 42°N no. her ex boyfriend (who lived at a different address) was a drug dealer. the police alleged that she was receiving 'suspicious packages' in the mail when applying for the (now illegal) no-knock warrant. however, the postmaster general has vigorously denied these claims. no evidence of drugs, drug paraphernalia, large amounts of cash or illegal firearms were found at her house. no evidence of drug dealing was found at her house, period. multiple neighbours have confirmed her boyfriends claims that the police didn't identify themselves when knocking/before breaching the door. her boyfriend legally owned his firearm. none of the police officers rendered first aid. one of the police officers when AWOL for hours after the botched raid. i would suggest you research media sources, concerning both their factual accuracy and biases, before regurgitating falsities. have a blessed day.

Jennifer Anderson Not all cops should be punished, but if a cop does something wrong then he should get a paid cut and benefits hurts. That’s the only way cops will listen. As soon as they see the punishments they’ll get if they do something bad then they’ll change. Police unions protect the hell out of them which is why some cops believe they’re above the law.

Stop calling it a mistake. The word mistake implies, that they were at the very least careful as to not murder a citizen in her bed. Mistake implies, that they would admit to being wrong and work to get better. This is not a mistake. This is not misconduct. And this is not excessive force. It is murder, plain and simple. And all officers involved should spend the rest of their lives in prison, including their supervisors and commanding officer (as co-conspirators).

In real life, no. On paper, yes. Meaning their management will change because they're hurting officials and their democracy. For dummies: On paper it says the reason for settlement is because of what the police did. Money was lost. Thus police on paper (administration) will change. In real life? Maybe not. You know how it goes with management. It's just alot of paper, policies, micromanaging, etc. But the clowns will still be clowns.

@C D Ah, my mistake about the place, but looking at the crime scene photos, the police shot haphazardly into the home, and Breonna collapsed where she was shot and the bullets went through (so meatshield is out of the question). @C D I suggest *YOU* do some research. You truly need to find and stick to news outlets that are ethical & responsible when reporting. You're just parroting the same mindless spew from alt right media. Everything you wrote, with the exception of the warrant being in her name, is false. Yes, she was employed. No, they did not find evidence of drugs in her home nor did she have any prior convictions of anything drug related. Her ex boyfriend (person of interest) is the reason she was in the warrant because a package in _the ex's name_ (confirmed not drugs) was delivered to her house (without her consent). An outside independent investigation concluded that Brianna should have never been served a warrant in the first place. So yes, this women is indeed a victim. Bad taste in men doesn't warrant someone's execution.

I've read enough to believe that Breona Taylor was heavily involved with her boyfriend's drug selling, and perhaps tragically, at best, she was killed accidentally in the exchange of gunfire initiated by her boyfriend. If that is the case, there is no criminal intent by the officers, it's a tragic and horrible mistake. The city is simply settling for that, knowing that in today's climate, they could potently lose several times more by a vindictive jury; and the family knows that the city could potentially fight it and delay the suit for years.

@wehrmeister
@wehrmeister 4 жыл бұрын
@Latoya austin That's why I stated "at worst" case, Breona was mistakenly shot 8 times. If you're in close proximity to a person shooting at the police, you're probably going to catch a few bullets. They are justified in firing back when fired upon, and they're not going to fire one time, wait to see if the threat was stopped, fire one more time if not, wait to see again, etc. They are going to fire several times, until the threat is stopped, especially when raiding a trap house.

How can you charge the cops? They were giving the address and did what they had to do. You need to go after the judge who signed the search warrant. That’s who should be in jail, not the men who went into A raid and were shot at.

Roberto stands outside of Vice HQ, Krishna stands inside Vice HQ, but it's split screen as if the two hosts are in completely different places. Also funny to see the construction project underway behind Roberto-One that will ruin the view of the east river from the Vice building, which Vice paid to get back in 2014 when they pushed out two of Williamsburg's most iconic music venues, Glasslands Gallery and Death by Audio, ending venues which were major cultural hubs.

LMAO have these kids chanting Breona's name ever been to or seen a sports game? They're CLEARLY using a taunting tone, NOT a supportive tone. The rise and then dip in their tones is completely inappropriate, there should be an inflection at the end of her names. Instead, they're taunting a dead woman.

So basically, this nice girl gets involved with drugs and gangsters then she was fired from her job as an EMT because a dead body was found in a car she rented for her gangster boyfriend, then she gets caught in the crossfire during a gunfight between the police and her other gangster boyfriend and tragically dies. And... now her family gets paid? WTF?

While her family is absolutely entitled to every penny from the settlement, it doesn't change anything. That money is coming out of taxpayer's pockets while the officers who murdered her STILL walk free. The taxpayers should NOT have to pay for the police officers' murder of Breonna. The attorney general needs to do his job.
