I imagine the key to Richardson succeeding is to not just blindly trust his athleticism. He's going to realize very quickly all the guys in the NFL are the country's top athletes. Learning the discipline and good decision making will be huge for him. While I'm not a Colts fan, I do hope he succeeds because the NFL is just better with kickass talents playing the game. Plus, the Colts fans have been through some things the past few years...

Someone looked into it & found that all the TEs we know as Great Receivers only became so at age 25 (with Kyle Pitts being a _huge_ outlier). I looked for when men become able to stay calm in the pocket as opposed to freaking out like Zach Wilson. It's about age 23 with 22.5 being the earliest I've found. Not good news for the top-3 with the High Expectations. My favorite example is Peyton Manning. While his rookie year stank, about game 10 his stats improve & mostly stay improved even though nothing on the team or field changed. His ability to shunt aside the Fight or Flight instinct long enough to not throw INTs in a panic kicked in & he stopped throwing INTs just because he couldn't stop himself.

Couple of big mistakes. AP was a second round pick. Look at the QBs that Pittman has had throwing to him before you judge him not a WR 1. AR's best throw in the preseason game was a deep corner for a TD that AP dropped. The interception was more on MacKenzie not coming out of his break quickly because of the blitz (He was the blitz beater in that package and he ran the normal route) AR still should of ate the pass, or tossed it way out of bounds, so he's not wholly off the hook. It was less about him being dead on accuracy and more about his poise. A lot of rookies kind of fall apart in their first game after their first pick (like Stroud did) and AR lead two 70+ yard drives in his next two offensive periods.

AR is the future of the team, best QB in this years draft by a handful, and Gardner Menshew is nothing but a backup that you don't even want on the roster so there's no point in starting him. Tre Lance sat and watch and look at how much "experience" he got from that, the dude is trash. Let AR get those reps in it's not like anyone on earth was expecting the colts to win the Superbowl this year, the Chicago bears have a better chance than them this year. Just let the boy get playing time. Trade J Taylor for 2 2nd round picks & 2-3 3rd round picks, get a new rookie RB and some other rookie players via draft, and let everyone develop together. Then the colts will be a serious team

I'm a colts fan but I have to say this was a terrible pick. At Florida I never once saw him make a throw that said that's an NFL throw or he's an NFL QB, his speed or arm strength are good tools but they don't win you games at the end. What wins you games as a QB is knowing how to read a defense and throwing men open like manning, Brady, Montana, or even Carson palmer and Phillip rivers. But time will tell who will be right on him

He's insanely inaccurate and made terrible decisions on a regular basis in college. As a Colts fan, i'm crushed we took him 4th. His tape says he's a 2nd rd project. Tom Brady and Joe Burrow have a combined vertical jump of 7 inches, but they complete 70% of their passes all day every day. But for some reason we've overlooked the most important traits a QB can have, and fell in love with his combine performance. RECORD JUMPS!!! YAY!

As a Colts fan I don’t expect Richardson to impact immediately like what Mahomes did. I’ll have to wait and see over time. Also one of the reason why I think that Frank got fired is because the lack of not using the TEs more often. There are games where a specific TE played fantastic but instead of keeping the momentum going the TE that had at least a solid game will disappear for a couple weeks but then here they are again showing up again like 3 or 4 games later. For the WR room I’m really curious to see how Josh Downs and Mike Strachan can do. I hope that we (colts fans) see Strachan on the main roster he has solid height at 6’5 but his 1st year he was out for the year then the year after that he didn’t make the roster. He has talent, specially for the red zone that I hope he will be used for. For the TE room I really hope that our new coach keeps feeding our TEs, specially Jelani Woods. I truly think he can be a matchup nightmare.

There’s no way he “won the QB competition” with how well Minshew is playing and how mediocre AR was in his only preseason game, this is purely a move to give him experience. Which I think is a mistake since there’s 17 games, plenty of time at any point to put him in if Minshew struggles. But Minshew is clearly the better passer right now and better option if the Colts actually were serious about putting their team in the best position to win. I think the Colts signaled they’re more than willing to make this a lost season purely to give AR experience, even though there was plenty of time to give him that later in the season……

I have been a Colts fan since I was 5. I was so irritated when the Colts drafted him because I think he will be a complete bust. In the 40+ years I have watched NFL football, I have NEVER seen a QB who started 13 games in college, losing record, inaccurate, running QB succeed in the NFL. No, Josh Allen played two years. I think what is sickening is the hype machine on him. He will go 6-17 and the media will say "Richardson Shows Elite Skills". When Andrew Luck was a rookie, if he put up those numbers, they would have criticed him more. Wishing someone would be good and talking positively about them doesn't make them good. I think he will have his share of highlight reel runs and a pass here or there, but overall will be overwhelmed and turn over the ball much. I think Minshew is a much better QB. And for anyone who says Richardson can the big play potential, Minshew actually has a higher yardage per pass than Richardson. I just don't get it. Bust.

Yeah, the tape reveals that he is actually a pretty bad QB. Sure every now and then he'll break a long run or throw a long TD pass, but he struggled with the most basic of pass concepts and reads at the college level, not to mention the inaccurate are in the short and intermediate ranges. I don't see him becoming a successful NFL QB unless he is given 2 or 3 years on the bench to develop.
