It really is just like that old saying. “A child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.”

The last time Shigaraki's dad hit him, it was out of panic not out of hate. He wanted to do something for Tenko to stop the destruction he's doing. But yeah, what he did wrong was to actually hit him that only made Tenko angrier.

Her leaving Shigarakis dad was her going to fight All for One before she died. Its not out right said but that "bad vilian" that she mentioned in her note was AFO, based on the timeline and what we see of her death in the 1st movie she probbaly went after afo instead of waiting for him. She left that note because she knew AFO woud probably end up killing her and she didnt want her son to be caught in the crossfire. Keep in mind there is no all might at the time so AFO was still a very powerful guy not just physically but his hold on society.

Manga Spoilers on how they censored the show in the Origin episode: In the show Re-Destro just squeezes Shigaraki's fingers, but in the manga he actually rips Shigaraki's fingers off. This fact people get confused about in later episodes. I know you are further ahead so hopefully it didn't confuse you not knowing that. Also, as others have mentioned Shigaraki's quirk was censored for the entirety of the show. They have to censor it because the show airs at a time when children can watch it. But Shigaraki's quirk explodes people into a puddle of bloody chunks of flesh. Even in Shigaraki's origin story the show still censors it a little bit. For example, when he touches people blood sprays out everywhere as they crumble. Even in his episode they still show them initially "turning to dust and ash." But they finally showed the actual aftermath of his quirk. As for Shigaraki scratching himself, I believe it is stress-induced. He specifies that it happens when he is home which is common for children from abusive/stress-filled environments to manifest their stresses in physical ways. Children from bad environments will actually gain physical reactions to it, for example, a lot of children will wet the bed more frequently/ or for longer periods than children from better family situations. Or they may only wet the bed when they are home but as soon as they sleep over at a friend's house they will be perfectly fine and accident-free. It carries on for Shigaraki that it is a stress/ anxiety response that he uses well into adulthood as well, because his trauma's are never addressed and rectified. Each family member died doing what they did in life. Mon died comforting him. Hana died running away (since she threw him under the bus), His mother died trying to run toward him and hug him/ help him, his grandparents died doing nothing. And his father died abusing him. They all sat back and allowed him to get abused for years on end. Mon and Hana were accidents but he started realizing how much he hated them allowing him to get abused. They finally were standing up to Kotaro, his dad, but it was too little too late. Also, Shigaraki's hair changed colors while his family was dying around him. Shigaraki is exactly like Deku except his support system was reversed. They both idealized All Might and wanted to be heroes. But if their family lives were reversed, this would have been a completely different show. I don't know if either of you watches The Walking Dead but it's brought up there too. We watch shows from a fixed perspective and meet opposing forces along the way. But if the show was from their perspective instead we might root for them and not the people we deem as in the right initially. And his backstory flips just seeing him as a villain right on its head. Also, both Shigaraki and Eri are similar as well, both of their quirks are mutations, which means their specific quirks weren't passed down from anyone else. Usually quirks are a combination of their parent's quirks as you see with Shoto Todoroki's family. But if they aren't a combination, then they are a mutation. The parallels this show has is why I love it so incredibly much. Kotaro is EXACTLY like Kota, the boy from the training camp in season 3 had Deku not intervened. And Kotaro's mom, Nana Shimura, I think she wrote the letter knowing she might die. Especially, when she included I'll be watching over you from up above in her letter. She didn't want to leave him but she knew she was potentially going to be killed. Lastly, I'm glad that you all noticed, but that is the same Doctor who told Deku he was quirkless. Sorry for the long-winded response, I studied psychology and I could literally write an entire analysis on this episode alone and on the parallels between Shigaraki, Deku, and Kota.

Shigaraki power was censored he'd always turned people into puddle of fleah and blood but there was no way they could anime that all the time
@ushijimawakatoshi142910 ай бұрын
Yeah, the moment they crumble it looked like he's making people into stone and then dust. But they showed here that he also made his dog and his sister into chunks of flesh and blood around it. They couldn't just outright animate it to burst of bloodspray and crumbled flesh because it's too gory.

@@ushijimawakatoshi1429oh really? I read in another comment that it is actually because at the beginning Shiggy didn't know how to control his quirk as much as he does now, and that as he grew up he knows how to handle it better e.e. (as we can see throughout the show xd) (sry for the bad english)

In the manga they cut out a shot of a shadowy figure in a suit dropping off tenko to his family from what was likely a daycare. Its speculated that shadowy figure was AFO and that afo secretly Gave Tenko (shigaraki) the decay quirk in secret. Causing tenko to start itching. Its also said people personalities revolve based around their quirks.
@anusaukko679210 ай бұрын
Yeah but aren't those personalities decided basically at birth? Instead of later in life.

The author of MHA is all in for gore and body horror (his manga profile pic is literally a hand coming out of another hand). However, the anime was intended to be airing in a time slot for where kids watch.

They kinda cut out the scene where All For One brought Tenko home. That was how he found him. There was a theory that All For One orchestrated the entire thing by giving Tenko Decay.

The reason Nana left was because AFO was after her. Nana had to completley erase Kotaro from her life. To the point where official documents dont even have her listed as a son. Im assuming yall know this tho since yall are ahead on Patreon

Guys I MHA is so bloody you don't know the half of it. The anime has been really censor heavy
@jenjenhocho31888 ай бұрын
I think people are equating season 5 as the weakest season because of the later half left a lasting impression (the My Villain Academia arc). If you isolate the 2 arcs of the season, you'll quickly realise that's where the issue is. I think, in a subconscious level, people felt like the villain backstory is there to justify their action. Even if bad things happen to them, _they_ still _chose_ to do bad. The audience understand that subconsciously and the way that their backstory was presented contradicts that and that's where the disconnect is. Compare that to season 4, Chisaki's story wasn't depicted as him being misunderstood or as justification for his action and so there's no disconnect there. Gentle Criminal's story is presented as justification but he wasn't evil, he was desperate sure but his crimes weren't evil.
