As an Austrian, I have to say it's always nice to see English-speaking people reacting to musicians from my home country. Falco's music is an integral part of Austrian culture and it will never be forgotten. He sang many songs in both German and English and was the only Austrian to reach number 1 on the Billboard with a song in German (Rock me Amadeus). Falco was one of the first German-speaking rappers and is also known as the first white rapper because of his style. Thank you for your great reaction. Greetings from Austria.🤘

Andy, sir, in case you didn't know, I'd like to be the first one to tell you that this song was played quite a bit here in America. I first heard this song when I was about 8 years old and I loved it! I'll never forget that one day, I came home singing this song and my brother was trying to figure out what the heck I was singing 🤣. And I think it's because I was mispronouncing the word "Amadeus" hahaha. Anyhow, I'm very much grateful that these two young people enjoyed this song, because I don't think they were born yet when it came out, and I was afraid they would think they were "too cool" for a song like this lol. Finally, I was very sad when I found out Falco passed away at a young age. May he rest in peace.

Only someone that goes on a musical journey like yourselves can understand why we 80's kids usually think music today is boring. If you only sample the 80's you usually just cover the highlights and gems like this are missed. The song is sung in German, and talks about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), who was a musical genius and if alive today, would probably be a rock star. He was an outrageous talent for his time, and pushed musical boundaries, as well as living a rather edgy life of excess, and lack of care for the future.

This video was a harder reaction to this song as it is in German--you should look for the Canadian or "Ultimate Canadian/ American version" (on You Tube) that was played a lot on the radio and a banger to dance to at the clubs in the 80's (You would love this in English). It is about Amadeus Mozart and what a superstar he must have been in his time period. The violin part that you are hearing was one of his most popular compositions, "The Magic Flute". So basically Falco turned Mozart's greatest work of art from 1791 into something we could all dance to at the clubs in 1985. Thanks for your fun open minded reaction to this one!

He was superstar, he was so popular He was so exalted, because he had flair He was a virtuoso, he was a rock idol And everybody was shouting, "Come and rock me Amadeus!" It was around 1780 and it was in Vienna No plastic money anymore, the banks against him Where the debts came from was well known to everyone He was a ladies man, women loved his punk He was superstar, he was so popular He was too exalted, that was his flair He was a virtuoso, was a rock idol And everything still shouts today, "Come and rock me Amadeus!" No1 hit in the US back then. Very extraordinary for a non-American. Besides, he was one of the few musicians in Vienna back then who introduced his audience to a new kind of technology: Vocal Sampling.

Born in Salzburg Austria in 1756, Wolfgang Amadeus Motzart was a child prodigy. Although he lived a short meteoric life dying in 1791, his impact on Classical music is undeniable. From Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to Fur Elise, you would likely have unwittingly heard his music many times before. Motzart lived a rockstar lifestyle and embodied a chaotic laissez-faire existence.

@kolty99

The melody for "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" was not actually composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, although it has been attributed to him in the past. The melody was actually taken from a French folk song called "Ah! vous dirai-je, maman," which was first published in 1761. Mozart did, however, create a set of twelve variations for the piano based on the melody in 1781, when he was 25 years old. These variations are known as "Ah, vous dirai-je, maman," K. 265/300e. So while Mozart did not write the original melody, he did use it in his work.

The song is about Mozart - the "rock star" of his generation. Falco was also Austrian, and was a child musical prodegy like Mozart. Apparently, he was seen as the next up and coming Mozart during his childhood. When he grew up, he thought that there would be more money to make with pop music rather than classical or opera. He has some really great 80's hits!

There is a more popular version with those of us that grew up with this song that couldn’t wait for the radio stations to play it called the 12” EXTENDED DANCE VERSION. (Look for a picture of a vinyl record with Falco Rock Me Amadeus on it). That version doesn’t have any German in it although it still has a lot of his weird quirky sounds he makes in it. It is also a lot more “instrumental” with a TON of different sounds to it. AWESOME VERSION!! Y’all should redo the reaction and compare the two.

You two make me laugh with your reactions to some of our crazy 80s music and MTV videos. Falco, Taco, Herbie Hancock's "Rockit" song and MTV video, Adam Ant's Goody Two Shoes, She Blinded Me With Science, Safety Dance...yeah, they were strange, bizarre, weird...and we did not care! We just jammed and loved 'em all!

He was the first punk ever to set foot on this earth. He was a genius from the day of his birth. He could play the piano like a ring and a bell And ev'rybody screamed: Come on, rock me Amadeus.... He was a superstar, he was dynamite and whatever he did (it) Seemed to be alright. And he drank (and) he cursed and he fooled around But when the women would shout: Rock me Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus, Oh oh oh Amadeus..... With a bottle of wine in one hand and a woman in the other 'Cause he was a ladies man He never stopped to worry what the next day would bring Because the girls would sing: Rock me Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus, Oh oh oh Amadeus...... His mind was on rock and roll and having fun Because he lived so fast he had to die so young. But he made his mark in history. Still ev'rybody says: Rock me Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus, Oh oh oh Amadeus.....

Oh, yes. Go on down the Falco rabbit hole. This man was unbelievable. He was making music from Eastern Europe during the years when Western and Eastern European cultures were fighting to break down the Berlin Wall and to lift the Iron Curtain.

I mean, let's be honest... This is one case in which y'all's reactions are like most of America's were at the time. Bewilderment, amusement, and a need to dance and sing along. It's positively infectious. It came from out of nowhere, was catchy as heck and it raced to the top of the US charts, which was a first for an Austrian or a song sung in German (the main language of Austria) on this side of the Atlantic (though Nena's "99 Luftbaloons" made it all the way to US#2 a few years earlier.) "Rock Me Amadeus" was actually about the Baroque-era composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. There had been a huge movie a year or so before the song, called Amadeus, and it portrayed Mozart as a bit of a rock star. I think we all assume he saw that movie, wrote a German rap over a banger beat, and made record sales history. Falco was already established in his home country and had a huge international hit a few years earlier with a song called "Der Kommissar". It didn't make the Hot100, but it was US#22 on the Rock charts and US#10 on the Dance charts. An American act called After the Fire took an English remake of "Der Komissar" to US#5 on the Billboard Hot100 later that same year (1983). I feel like you may have done "Der Kommisar" by After the Fire a few months ago. If you haven't, then react to both. It's an iconic song, and one of the first international "Rap" hits. The history of Hip-Hop looks concise and linear when we look back, but when it unfolded it was messy. There were lots of Pop, Rock, Novelty, New Wave, and Synthpop songs that were influenced by early Hip-Hop. Some are good, some are bad. "West End Girls" (1986/US#1) is a work of art, "I Wanna Be a Cowboy" (1986/US#12) by Boys Don't Cry sounds similar, but feels like a joke. (It's still a good one to react to, though!)

To answer all or at least some of your questions. Austrian born rocker Falco , decided to compose something inspired by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Mozart and Falco were born and raised in Austriañ/German culture But this song is actually about Mozart (I know I don't spell the name right) , so come and Rock Me Amadeus. It was actually being sang/sung/song in English but he was Austrian with a very HEAVY accent. This man was huge everywhere but the States. Even then some of us survived

I know I'm late, but this song came out in the 80's shortly after the movie of the same name, Amadeus. There is an extended version that has an amazing guitar riff that gives dates of different things that pertain to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Just when Falco was starting to get international fame he died in a car crash, I think he flipped a jeep in Brazil. You should listen to a band called, 'after the fire' song name: 'der komissar' It was written by Falco but made popular by after the fire. If you want truly quirky you should react to Adam Ant song :'friend or foe'.

Amadeus Mozart one of the greatest composers of all time. There is also a movie called Amadeus I believe. It came out in the 80s is pretty good. Not sure why you didn't find the version they played in the US :) Oh I think that is footage from the movie in some of the scenes. Sorry I got bounced out and came back to finish my comment.

Guys, there is an English version of this song if you'd really like to find out what he's saying. It actually gives a lot of accurate history on the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, probably the most "metal" of all of the classical composers.

As you’re going down this path of weird oddities from the 80’s, maybe you should explore “army of lovers”. ‘Crucified’ is quite catchy. I remember seeing them live in London and they were very theatrical. Nothing like Falco but a similar genre of bohemian visuals.
