@@a.g.r.v.3144 Specially when spoken to Talim, Since she is only 15 xD In SC4, Yoshimitsu basically cut Talim's head off with his Critical Finish as she lay down dead on the ground, Its not as gory as in Mortal Kombat, but Critical Finish in SC4 and Critical Edge in SC6 DOES kill the characters. In SC6 he pretty much cut Talim's soul killing her and the most gory is Haohmaru with his rage explosion CE, he cuts Talim open and her blood spout everywhere then fall down dead as the camera linger on her dead body.

“If none can know what lies ahead, then losing one’s way is just human nature.” That hit me. Edit: Because it was asked, my interpretation is this: This quote means humans are flawed by nature, so for them to make mistakes is expected and excusable within reason. That’s why our focus should be on forgiveness rather than condemnation. Thus, Yoshimitsu spared the villain’s life.

As someone who always gravitated towards the weird and wacky characters in fighting games, Yoshimitsu being a cool Robin Hood-type who might not be a main player but always tries to have at least SOMETHING going on, unlike poor Dhalsim, is very good and enjoyable for me. Steals from the rich, frees and befriends a wacky scientist, gets a laser sword, makes an enemy just because he's such a generous dude, starts a rivalry with a Blade-rip off because the Blade dude is a weeb who thinks he's doing ninja-stuff WRONG... it's really just in T7 where I feel he's got nothing but filler. Considering how hot the war between Mishima and G-Corp has gotten you'd think Yoshi would be super-busy behind the scenes, but nope... gotta get into "wacky" molestation shenanigans with Leo. Then there was Killer Instinct, Virtua Fighter, and then there was TEKKEN! Yoshimitsu was the weirdest character design since Blanka and I was into it. As weird as he looked, he felt weird to play as too because his move set was way different to the other characters. I think he had long sequences of inputs but he could do things like teleport, helicopter, levitate, heal, and pogo stick. I remember in Tekken 3 (my first at-home Tekken) after a victory he would say his name very slowly "Yo-Shi-Mi-Tsu", or sometimes just growl.

Funfact: director actually later redacted this statement saying that Leo was a female character named Eleonora Kliesen in the initial concept, but later the gender was changed to neutral. So yeah, another non-binary character in fighting games. Yoshimitsu just wanted some of these they/them pu$$y.

@@siskohwat473 yeah i also heard about it but to be honest i am just gonna stay with the old statement for the joke of things but then again in yoshi's ending it pretty much showed one of the funniest scenes in tekken history which was like an anime adaptation of a guy accidentally tripping over a guy who is secretly crossdressing as a girl

just a correction, Japanese names with the same pronunciation can have different meanings depending on the Chinese characters (kanji) used for the name. The kanji used for him in Soulcalibur is 吉光, which would probably mean something like light of good fortune. The meaning he mentioned in the video (light of goodness) would probably be these kanji instead: 良光

I know I'm a bit late but as a former Yoshimitsu player, I really enjoyed this vid! One small note, but I think that instead of Independence Day aliens, his appearance was influenced by an older Namco game (+ movie) called Mirai Ninja, in which the protagonist, Shiranui, looks like a combination of Tekken 2 and 3 Yoshimitsu but with a visor. The game is pretty much completely forgotten but the movie's fun if you can find it and don't mind the low budget. They both have great soundtracks too.
@Eli-C-
@Eli-C- 2 жыл бұрын
Wow, that's extremely fascinating stuff! I knew some of Yoshimitsu's designs were based on one of Namco's older games, Genpei Toma Den (Tekken 1 P1, Tekken 4 P2, Tekken 6 customization "Kagekiyo" outfit), but I never knew this. I see Shiranui's helmet is even the same exact shape as Yoshimitsu's Tekken 3 helmet. Thanks for sharing.

@@Eli-C- Glad it was of interest. Yeah, a few years ago, I really got into that director's work. Despite being one of his oldest, cheaper films, it's quite a spectacle. The fact that the main guy was like my favorite Tekken character was an added bonus. Another funny thing is that if you played Tekken Bowling in the bonus features for Tekken Tag, Yoshimitsu and Shiranui have similar (if not the same) Heads Up Displays. The info on Genpei Toma Den was interesting for me as well, so thank you too!
